What's a girl to do.
If you tried it on and you loved it and can afford it get it, if you're not sure forget about it, Adina mentioned that MAC are coming out with 5 new MSF so it's ok to be picky

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

Well...I am the loner. I got Grand Duo blush, hate it. Chunks of shimmer on my cheeks, no matter how much I buff, how much I apply, what brush I use, etc...So I am going to return in the next couple days. Bummer!

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

Returned Grand Duo
It was similar to Love Thing. Too similar when it hits the cheeks Im afraid. Im NC35 btw. Makes me sad when I return stuff but honestly wasn't going to get used by me thats for sure. I love Love Rock though.

But I might rethink purchasing mineralized blushes b/c they certainly don't stay put and I don't like how shimmery these grand duos were.

Glam, try a beauty powder under the MB. That makes them stay where they should all day long.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

I've found that using a kabuki brush and buffing these out after application really helps disperse the shimmer and prolong the wear...at least on me. I wore Love Rock with Perfect Topping on top last night, and there was plenty to take off at the end of the night. I used my 187 dupe to apply Love Rock, buffed it a bit, then buffed Perfect Topping over, and viola! A pretty pink sheen!

I tried that and the CCB but no luck. :\

Too bad, the ccb would have been my next try, but so far the BP at least works for Dainty.
Are you wearing makeup? I was told that the reason the MB fade on me is that I do not wear makeup. Not that is changes anything.

I do wear makeup. Its just too powdery for me I guess. Oh well, there are plenty of sheertone blushes I want. Don't care for Grand Duos anymore.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

All this talk of returning the beautiful raspberry Grand Duo blush is making me cringe. It's the perfect must-have blush in my eyes. Perfect color and texture. I personally didn't like Love Thing because blending it was a bitch and it didn't give me the buffed up, plump cheeks look like I get with these babies.

What I love about these is that you barely have to blend them and you don't have to apply them wet to get color payoff like I do with the sonic chick ones. Oh and also that I don't need to apply MSF on top.

Could it be the foundation your using? I apply my MB's and Grand Duos early in the morning, and it's still there at 10 pm when I wash my face before bed. I use a long wearing foundation though. Anytime I've used blush over a non-long wearing foundation, no matter which blush it was, it faded before the end of the work day. The way I see it, if a foundation fades, then so will anything that is applied over it.

Well I have tried it on Studio Sculpt, Studio Fix, Studio Stick and MUFE HD. No luck with either of them and at the end of the day I end up with patches of color on my cheeks, as if its been rubbed off certain places. I never had foundation fade on me, ever. So I don't think that is the problem. I really don't know what is. But mineralized blushes are known to fade or come off easily than other types. I even buff it in with my 182 and still comes off.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

Back from the MAC "seminar" I attended tonight, (which I talked a bit about in the Rose Romance thread), but I'm mentioning it here as well, because the MA tonight did a super simple pretty look on one of the models. She used bronzer to contour her cheekbones, and applied Moonriver on the apples of her cheeks. The model was about an NC30, and this looked super pretty on her! She completed the look with Pink Nouveau l/s over pink treat l/l (as the focus was on her lips) and used Sugarshot to highlight her browbone, bronzer on her lids and a blitz and glitz fluidline to line her upper lash line and winged it out a little. I'm sure the fact that the model was stunning sold the look even more, but it was oh so pretty!

And naturally Moonriver made it's way home with me!

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

My Grand Duo blush doesn't last on me either. So your not alone.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

Hot Planet stays on me ALL day...BUT I have to pack a good amount on, otherwise it won't barely show at the end of the night (before taking off my makeup).

Btw, just saw Moon River is the 1st grand duo to sell out online! Makes me want it even more, lol :X

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

I just can't get into Hot Planet, I don't know why it doesn't look good on me at all. But I did pick up Light Over Dark, which is probably one of the last ones I'd consider, but it is really pretty. Gives me a gorgeous bronzed glow, perfect for spring/summer And now I'm lemming Earth to Earth for that slightly cooler bronze look.

It didn't look good on me either I prefer Intenso, I wore it dry and it is super easy to blend like the others, you just have to use a light hand.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

For me, these stay on all day. Maybe try using it wet.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

Hey guys

Was it just my crappy vision or did a lot of these blushes have large glitter chunks in them? I was kinda bummed about that but I did get one, Intenso.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

^^ When I swatched them in the MAC store and counters on three occasions, I saw large glitter chunks too.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

Ahhh I see. So I wasn't going crazy. That's too bad though because I was looking forward a few of them. Oh well.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

i was just browsing through the mac website and it says all of these are sold out? REALLY? REALLY? some of them are not even that cute. like intenso. i don't get it.

the only one i got was moon rock and i managed to get that the day my store got them in cause i'm pretty sure they are sold out now. i was really looking into getting light over dark for a nice bronze-y color. i was actually hoping the cco's get them eventually.

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

^^No just moon river is sold out. Sometimes if you click on the item that is sold out of out of stock and then click on another that will say it is out of stock as well. At least that is what I have noticed.

Team Cats?? Can I be the token reluctant waterboy/girl/whatever? My cats are seriously f-ed up. God love em, I couldn't live without the three of them but wtf, they're all a little whacked. The youngest thinks he's a dog. Pants, growls and plays fetch. No lie. I play fetch with this goofball every day. How I manage to pick the nutters I don't know, but they are so entertaining.

Now that i am done with HK, i can't wait to see these blushers!

Re: MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

These blushes last all day long on me, and I have very very oily skin.

They are super pigmented though, the first time I put on Grand Duo I was like "woah, I look ridiculous".

Truth.

Love Rock on my fish belly white skin makes me look like I belong on the street corner unless I use an infantisimally minute amount, and we're talking no visible grains at all on the brush lasting me 40,000 applications. Don't get me started about the first time I applied Light over Dark

How are you liking Light Over Dark? I wasn't initially considering it, but after swatching it at the counter I fell in love with the color. I decided to give myself a few days' time to think about it, but when the damned blush was on my mind 24/7, I knew I couldn't ignore it any longer. The next time I go to MAC will be the day it comes home with me.
