Dior Cosmetics Discussion

So, I'll be going to Hawaii and I'll be in the water a lot...

I was wondering if any of you gals/guys have tried "DiorSkin Forever Extreme Wear Flawless Makeup SPF 25" it is said to be waterproof?

My question is, does it work? If so, does it hold up to the "waterproof" part?

Or do you guys have any recommendations for any "water resistant" foundations? I've looked online and seen that MUFE has a water resistant foundation, does it work?

Thanks!

Re: Come out, you Dior foundation wearers!

I wear this foundation and it stays on that's for sure. When I wash my face I have to cleanse twice! I love it!

Re: Come out, you Dior foundation wearers!

i use this foundation as well and it holds pretty well..i haven't swam with it on, but when i went on a water ride and got splashed due to being in the front, it stayed on.

Re: Come out, you Dior foundation wearers!

Dior is good... however I have found Make Up Forever's foundations to have a better range of colors and better wearability especially if you want it to look good after being in the water!

Thanks, so either way both foundations wear off? I'm so undecided!

Re: Come out, you Dior foundation wearers!

Yeah, unfortunately. If you plan on actually swimming, I woudl do a tinted moisturiser and maybe carry some foundation with you, any and all will come off with active play in water, especially for an extended period of time. Anytime I've done a shhot where I had to have the model where body makeup, we had to touch up constantly, and I used Ben Nye Makeup Seal, and still had to touch up every 30 - an hour that we would be in water.

aw that sucks. haha.. I guess I'll just save my money for some waterproof mascara. hahaha... Any recommendations for waterproof mascara?

Thank you so much for your input!

Re: Come out, you Dior foundation wearers!

so i have used both dior and mufe. my gripe about dior is it oxidizes quickly and tuns a shade to two shades darker/orange within the first hour.

anyways they both are really great for longwearing and both are waterproof. when i would shower they would both still be on when i was done if i hadn't used a cleanser.

mufe gave me more porcelain coverage because it covered my freckles but dior gave me lighter coverage but still full coverage (if that makes sense?)

i like dior for more daytime and mufe for night but dior just doesn't come in enough foundation shades to match my skin that well.

Re: Come out, you Dior foundation wearers!

waterproof mascara- lancome hynose waterproof handsdown! the only thing is have a good makeup remover because it is a pain in the ass to get off.

i think i've tried them all because waterproof holds my curl better because i have such straight lashes. diorshow waterproof is also amazing but it tends to give me a slight racoon eye near my outer lower lashes.

Re: Come out, you Dior foundation wearers!

Your welcome, always glad to help!

I reeeaaallllly liked Tarte's new one, the 4 day lash stain. Boy, that sucker looked good for 3 days, and when I went to take it off (just any waterproof makeup remover) it removed really easily and didn't hurt me or my lashes.

EDIT - I used to work for Sephora, and I've been in the cosmetics industry for 6 years now - I've tried a LOOOOTTT of stuff, lol.

Thanks! What brush do you normally use when you apply both foundations?

Do you put a powder on top of the foundation? Or just leave it?

WOW! 3 days?! That's crazy! hahaha...

I was wondering, since you worked at Sephora, do they give samples in little sample jars if I wanted to try both foundations?

Thanks! I'll definitely look into the product. I have some problems with Dior mascara as well, I actually got a allergic reaction to it, although I loved it when I first used it!

Re: Come out, you Dior foundation wearers!

They should. Make sure and let them color match you first.

Re: Come out, you Dior foundation wearers!

I own this dior foundation, I also used to use Mac Studio fix fluid but this Dior foundation goes on smoother, looks more flawless without looking cakey. It's effortless to put on and I was in love with this foundation

BUT I WOULD NEVER GO SWIMMING IN IT! EVER!!! It is sooooo gona come off girl, you don't even know. Dior is expensive and beautiful unfortunately we are paying a lot more for the packaging then the product plus it isn't a professional line , it doesn't cater to the professional make up artist as much as say make up forever or nars. Dior is just for the looks and glamour but their products aren't as up to par in quality.

For the mufe i just used my fingers because it was thicker, then i used a moisturized brush (just spritz a little moisurizer on my 187) and then go over that so everything is really blended.

for dior i have used my 187 and my fingers. you have to work with this stuff fast because once it dries it isn't going to budge. i found that they work about the same but if you want excellent coverage follow this:
1. use one pump of dior, i used ALMOST a full pump, and a pump of moisurizer and put that on your face using a brush.
2. take a half pump of dior and use the moisturized brush and apply to areas you need more coverage.
looks flawless!

also i didn't need to use a powder with either of these because mufe was just about completely matte and dior was slightly less matte but in a good way. no powder needed!

Dior Cosmetics Discussion

I just went to a Dior update and I figured there are a few things any good Dior colour fan should know... two of my favourite products are being replaced.... HISSS

1) Worst news first: The Dior Addict Lipsticks(not glosses or high shine gloss sticks) are being replaced with a reformulated version with a new colourstay technology. There will be a gradual phase out of the current Dior Addict lipsticks over the next year or so. IMO, the Dior Addict lipsticks are some of the best formulated lippies around after a few of the NARS or Chanel formulations, and much better than the Rouge Dior lipsticks(which have a HIGHLY outdated colour selection). Stock up on classic colours like #857, 869 and 647 while you can. Especially 857. I can't say enough about this Red. Think MAC Port Red with a warmer undertone, and a better texture. Looks amazing on pretty much everyone. Even better when paired with the Red Stockings Dior Addict lipgloss.

Also, I tried a couple of the new colours... they are definitely beautiful(!!!) hues, on trend, and exceptionally lightweight(they feel as light as the gloss sticks, even lighter maybe), but give a good amount of colour, comparable to many of the MAC lustre lipsticks, but i don't think they give a great 'lipstick' texture on the lips... your natural lip texture(and sometimes colour) shows through, which i don't love. Also... one of them fully STAINED my lips and i couldn't get the colour off. Not that into that either, but i guess it's good for the wear.

2) Second worst news: The current Harmony de Blushes (with four strips of both blush and bronzer) are being replaced with new ones that have a main 'circle' of colour(bronzer, not blush from what i tried) with a few bits of other harmonious hues in strips at the edges. The new ones are inferior IMO, just because the old ones were pretty unique in that they were all pretty matte and had 4 very different colours, really incorporating both a blush and bronzer aspect. Plus it was easy to isolate each colour if you wanted to concentrate a specific colour in a specific spot and the colour combos were realllly practical - the new ones are really hard to tease out each colour(and there's less variation in each anyway, they're mostly bronzer with a hint of a bit of colour), PLUS there is low level shimmer them so they're a lot more like every other gently shimmery bronzer out there. Pretty, but mundane.

3) There will be a new line of Dior Bronzers called Original Tan, and they will be replacing at least one of the current bronzer lines(matte sunshine or diorbronze), if not both. I don't see much of a difference in the new ones, but i did see a slight bit of glitter in these, so if you have a favourite matte bronzer from dior, grab a backup just in case.

now for a few of the fun bits!

4) In May/June, Dior will be launching their first lip balm. SPF 10, but it's got that ingredient that Smashbox's O-Glow/Gloss has to bump up microcirculation and make your lips more pink. It looked FABULOUS on my pale lips, a beautiful reddish pink, much less tacky thank O-Glow's borderline neon pink, and it looked sexy on the tanned/mediterranean girls because it gave them a pop of colour(but i think they preferred nudes...). The texture is great, really nourishing, and it'll be a good low-maintenance way to keep your lips supple and pigmented when you're not wearing lipstick/gloss.

5) In May/June Diorshow ICONIC will be coming out in a waterproof version(because it wasn't hard enough to remove already!!!), as well as a deep chestnut brown and a dark blue. It's not like the current Diorshow blues that are electric... more like the navy from the UltimEyes mascara, but slightly lighter with a hint of periwinkle - on the lashes, it's really subtle. um. too subtle for my bright-colour loving ass.

6) Not too exciting, but the summer collection will have the quint-essential Dior eyeshadow quints, only there will be 4 shadows, and one cream liner. handy I guess, but the one palette I tried, I was not impressed with the pigmentation for the shadows, which have been jet milled and sifted an extra several times - they are so smooth and creamy it's ridiculous, but the payoff is balls for some of the lighter shades. The compact will also be rimmed with silver trim. Meh. I like the classic, but that's just me.

7)There will be a sexy LE cool raspberry-coloured Dior Kiss lipgloss, which I wish were permanent since all the exhisting colours are too light to be anything but beautiful finishing glosses or barely-noticeable(but tasty) lipglosses. There's also a gorgeous relatively cool Ffuchsia nailpolish coming out that I'm excited about, but that will be LE, too.

8) There will be a(I believe LE) Dior Shimmer Star highlighter - didn't get to try it, but it looked like it had a hefty chunk of PINK in it.

I think that's it. Hope that helps people out and gives you a head's up!

Re: !!! Dior Colour changes in the next year =|

Interesting, thanks for the info and update!

Sad about the Bronzer/Blush I just bought my first one this week - i've heard great things about it.

do you know when these changes will be taking place? once the current products sell out I assume?

Re: !!! Dior Colour changes in the next year =|

I have to say I'm quite exited about the designer palettes, very handy for travelling when you can have all in one compact

Re: !!! Dior Colour changes in the next year =|

I thought all the Dior lipsticks (and I have had dozens) are a bit thin in formulation. I wish they were thicker in texture like Shisido, Nars or Guerlain's or even some of Chanel's.

Re: !!! Dior Colour changes in the next year =|

Quints with cream eyeliner included? Yes please!

Thanks for the info - really helpful.

I love dior quints, will be interesting to see it in summer...

are the colours going to be very neutral again?

Re: !!! Dior Colour changes in the next year =|

So long as the Addict Glosses (and ESPECIALLY Red Stockings) are not being replaced then I am good with it LOL - I have Red Stockings and love it, if they were going to Dc that I would buy another 10!!! I dont like the packaging though - honestly is plain sux and I really wish Dior would fix it! My Red Stockings leaks...

Re: !!! Dior Colour changes in the next year =|

That sucks, I LOVE their blush [the one with the bronzer and 4 strips]

Re: !!! Dior Colour changes in the next year =|

Well, it looks like Sephora.com already got rid of the Sunshine Blush stock..

I received my Sunrise Party today and i'm in love. It's perfect, but now i'm scared of using it because I don't want it to run out. I'm hoping to try out Sunset Fiesta - Bloomingdales.com still has some in stock

Dior Cosmetics Discussion

I tried to search but I really didn't find a good thread that would talk about Dior's make up in general so I decided to make one

Dior is quite an expensive brand that maybe usually is associated with more mature women. That's what I though for long, but since then I have found a few of their products to be stables in my make up collection. Is there anyone else in here that like's Dior's make up and if so what are your favourites?

I have totally fallen in love wiht their eyeshadow (don't worry I still love me MAC as much as I did before), mascara and foundation. I've been wearing Diorskin Forever in 010 (sadly a tad too dar, but I'll manage) and I also really like the Diorshow and Diorshow BlackOut mascaras.

Re: Dior cosmetics

If you like shimmery eyeshadows, their iridescent quads are great. I love the quality of the shadows. I have Earth Reflections and Iridescent Leather and they both have beautiful shimmery neutrals. I often wear them to work.

Re: Dior cosmetics

I don't own any iridescent quints (yet) but have been ponderinf between Sky Glow and Earth Reflections Right now Smoky Light and Twilight quints have to be my favourites though.

Re: Dior cosmetics

i really like the dior lipsticks - the addict ultra shine ones! really shimmery and feel really smooth. i also have a limited edition eye and lip palette that came out in 2007 and it's pink with 4 browny eyeshadows and 2 lipglosses. cost about £50 but it's nice for travelling and the shadows are pigmented.

Re: Dior cosmetics

I am in love with thei shimmer powder-rose diamondiperfecr highlighter!
