MAC - Holiday 09: Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Colour Collection) Discussion

I know we still have no more information yet expect the name - but who wants to wait with me for the next holiday collection??

The holiday collection is a highlight of the year every year for me and I can't wait to see the packaging and the e/s palettes for the first time!

And what are your hopes for the mini gift sets?

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

Copied & pasted from the Early Buzz thread:

I have some holiday collections info... the release dates are for Australia though so it would be approx 2-3 weeks earlier for the US & Canada

Magic, Mirth & Mischief Colour Story - 2nd November (AU)
Mineralised Eyeshadow Duos x 6
Softsparkle Eye Pencils x 2
Lipsticks x 4
Dazzleglasses x 3
Cremesheen Glass x 3
Mineralised Blush x 2
Nail Lacquer x 2

Magic, Mirth & Mischief Holiday Sets part 1 - 2nd November (AU)
Lip Sets x 2 (warm, cool)
Eye Palettes x 4 (warm, starlet, smokey, resort)
Brush Sets (precision, eye, buffing) - apparently the lineup of brushes in these sets has changed this season
Viva Glam set
Face Kit (Fleur, Bronze)
Eye bag

The promo pic for this had square boxes/palettes with round colored spots, these looked like they could be see-through parts to the shadows underneath and were kinda raised like bubbles. The background colour on the box/palette was gold. (this is from memory of the tiny pic my MA had)

Love's Devine Lash Kit - 2nd November (AU)
#7 Lash
Pentultimate Liner
Reflects Transparent Teal
Promo size Zoomlash
**note - this was a Myers exclusive in AU, so I think this will be a Nordies Exclusive in the US**
This was in a metallic bronzy-pewter bag in a similar shape to the RSS brush bags last year.

Magic, Mirth & Mischief Holiday Sets part 2 - 16th November (AU)
Lip & Lustreglass Sets (coral, pink, neutral)
Pigment Sets (warm, cool)
Softsparkle Eye Pencils Set

There was also another set called Baroque something... it was a David Jones exculsive collection in December. From memory the promo pics was warm bronzy red & gold tones, so this might indicate something about this particular collection.

Sorry if any of this info has been posted already!!

If I remember anything else I will post it.

Edit: A massive thank you to my fabulous MA at Myers Adelaide who let me stand at the counter with her collections sheet and type all the info into my phone cos I said we didnt have it on Specktra yet

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

I'm most excited for:

Cremesheen glasses, starlet eyeshadow palette, and fleur face kit. Maybe the coral or pink glass sets, too.

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

Wow I can't wait to see the packaging for this either, it sounds really fun! I hope to escape without buying any more palettes, as I have palettes coming out of the wazoo but I might be coerced in to the MES duos, as long as they are new and not repromos. Also I might pickup a cremesheen glass, as I only have one from the previous release and I've decided I could use at least one more.

I'm kind of disappointed that the kits are going to be softsparkle pencils (they are so rough!) and pigment vials, as I guess I was hoping they'd do mini paint pots or shadesticks or something. But that's more money saved, right?

the packaging looked really cute... I will have to try and borrow the sheet from my MA to scan the pic

I wasnt impressed with the softsparkle pencils either

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

I was sort of excited about softsparkle pencils. I don't know anything about them, and they sounded, well... soft. Knowing that they're the opposite of soft makes me happy, though - less money spent!

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

Now what MAC needs to do is a mini set with pearlglide liners. I agree the sparkle ones are too rough.

I do not need anymore eye palettes as I too have so many but I SO love them. I'm sure I will get at least one.

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

I miss just the regular potted eye shadows for the holiday collections. I am starting to get tired of the mineralize eye shadows. I feel much better after saying that!

Although I might change my mind once I see color descriptions and pictures!

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

i too am tired of those damn soft(hard) sparkle liners. they glitter is fantastic, but they're so scratchy!

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

The soft sparkle liners don't seem like big sellers to me. I wonder why MAC keeps re-releasing them. My cco has a TON of them still in stock and also a TON of the soft sparkle holiday set.

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

^ Yep, I saw the softsparkle liners on the page and thought immediately "PASS!!"

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

cuz mac doesn't think things thru sometimes. i think cuz its around holiday and it sparkles, they think its a good idea, but its not.

i too would love mini paint pots, but the only problem might be too tiny pots.

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

Mini Paint pots would be awesome! What if they made them the size of a Fluidline?

All I can say is I bought a bunch of these pencils from a) Sweetie Cakes and b) Antiquitease holiday sets, and they have barely been touched! I love the colors and the idea, but I can't bring myself to use them.

Yea maybe the pots wouldn't be conducive for standard consumer use. B/c I know they say to use a brush with PP, but I always just use my finger as I'm assuming most average consumers do, so if it were the size of a fluidline it might not be easy to get in to the pot? Or I could be way off...

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

i wish for paint pot sets too. and i really hope that the white/cream side of word of mouth MES will be repromoted, as mine is all gone!

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

I use a brush to apply my p/p and then smooth out with finger.

I can't wait to see pictures. The holiday collection is always so pretty looking

I'm actually most intrigued by the brush sets... I'm hoping for some new brushes instead of the same few hashed over and over. At the same time, I won't be surprised if they are the same brushes, just rearranged across sets.

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

the buffing brush set sounds interesting.

I usually get a few palettes but I think I'll be more fussy this time around. I don't usually go for the mini sets either. I don't know why though? I think I'm just anal about everyhting being the same size...

I'm also hoping that the two LE mineralize blushes will have the Sonic Chic texture, which was still the best across the three types released

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

ok, so I did a quick pic in MS Paint to try an explain what I saw in the palette picture... hopefully this helps!! I know the drawing is really really sucky but it's better than nothing...

ok - so the background was a gold colour, but I think it was matte rather than shiny. Obviously the coloured dots werent as badly colour co-ordinated as this pic (I just went for random colours), but I'm pretty sure this is kinda what the pics showed. The bubbles kinda looked like they were raised plastic showing the colours in the palette underneath, or they could just be colored plastic to represent baubles or something like that.

Hopefully this helps!!!

Re: MAC - Magic, Mirth, Mischief (Holiday 09) Discussion

I might pick up a palette or two and that's it. I really need to find the warm eyes from Red She Said. Really regret passing that one.
I don't need anymore lips.. I don't need soft sparkles.. I don't need more MES... yeah. And I HATE lip palettes. I can't stand the glosses getting all mixed up together.

You're welcome

The main things that caught my eye were the following:

- Face Kits - I am wondering if these are similar to the "look in a box" or even the face trip palettes that were brought out this year (I'm hoping for the latter)

- Love's Devine Lash Kit - this was a good buy from what I remember... I'm pretty sure it was AUD$95, so I reckon it would probably be around USD$45 (no idea really... just guessing)

I'm also very interested to see the lineup of the brushes to see how much they have changed!

Thank you! I want two eye palettes again for sure, maybe one brush set. A mini lipglass and pigment set as well - really can't wait to see the packaging.

I hope for regular e/s in the colour story as well - no MES please
