My fave NARS blushes

For Miss QQ

I am NW20, and love the following powder blushes:

Neutral:

Zen - a matte neutral. Looks muddy in the pan, but is lovely on the skin. I used it for contouring and also as a neutral bronzer.

Madly - a shimmery neutral. Gives a marvelous glow to the skin, and goes with everything.

Colour:

Lovejoy - rosey bronze with gold shimmer. Just gorgeous and so versatile.

Deep Throat & Gilda - beautiful peach shades. NARS has some of the best peach/coral blushes available, IMHO

Mata Hari - bright matte warm pink. For a cooler option, Desire is a stunning cool matte bright pink (think MAC Dollymix).

Highlighter:

Albatross - the perfect highlighter with a stunning sheen and finish. Just perfect.

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Thank you Rachel!

What a pity we have no NARS here.....

But I want to get blush Orgasm soon. Springsheen by MAC is one of my fave blushes ever and it seems to be similar to Orgasm, so I have to have it!

Albatross sounds like the perfect highlighter. To which MSF would you compare it?

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Susanne - I only have one MSF (Light Flush) so honestly do not know what Albatross would compare to. Hopefully others who are MSF fans could comment.

Honestly, I think the sheen and finish that Albatross has is unique to NARS, but I am biased since I have used it for years.

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Thank you, Rachel!

Deep Throat and Gilda have jumped into my list as I don't have any peach blush that I love at the moment. I have my eyes on Desire too!

A few questions, why do you not like Orgasm as much? I'm thinking of getting it. How does Torrid compare with Deep Throat? Likewise, how does Angelika compare with Desire? Is Angelika just a glittery Desire?

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Orgasm doesn't really show up on me (NW20) - to me it is a highlighter and Albatross gives me what I need there. I tried Super Orgasm, but even though it has more pigmentation, I hated the glitter bits in it.

Torrid is more orange on me than Deep Throat.

I've not checked out Angelika so cannot help you there. Have you scoped out the NARS swatch thread here? I would suggest taking a look, there are a lot of blush swatches in this thread: http://www.specktra.net/forum/f217/n...roducts-93429/

Susanne, I don't think Albatross would really compare to any MSF's. I'd pick this over any of the "highlight" MSF shades because it doesn't have that icy look like most of the MSF's, or any glittery bits. Like Rachel mentioned, it's more of a sheen, a nice warm sheen.

Re: My fave NARS blushes

I'm NC20 so maybe Orgasm will not show up on me too. I will get Deep Throat in stead of Torrid then, as I don't like anything too orange.

Thank you, I have looked at the swatches before but I will examine them more closely. I have to do my homework as I cannot see them in person. My friend will be helping me to buy them when she travels overseas this September.

Susanne, we don't have Nars here too. Albatross sounds amazing. I think we both need it.

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Miss QQ - check out Karla Sugar's blush swatches - they include some of the blushes you are considering:

Peachy colours:

Pinks:

Highlighters/Neutrals:

Keep in mind she swatches very heavily, these look very different on the face when applied as blush.

^^^ Orgasm really looks sheer in this swatch. Hmm.

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Orgasm is very sheer, IMHO. Pretty, but subtle.

Re: My fave NARS blushes

I think I need Deep Throat in my life.

And Lovejoy.

And Taj Mahal...

Being on this forum is gonna make me bankrupt!

Re: My fave NARS blushes

I bought Orgasm since people RAVED over it and I thought it was really pretty. After a few months of wearing it, I felt like I needed something with more pink in it to look more natural as the Orgasm seemed slightly too peachy for me. Super Orgasm in now way interested me b/c of the glitter.

Right now I'm using Dolce Vita which I love but have to use a light hand with b/c it's SOOOO pigmented. It looks like a brick red almost in the pan but usually comes out a warm, glowy pink on me and I'm about an NC20 I guess, with yellow undertones and am on the light medium side. I definitely want to try at least 1 or 2 other colors. I got the Luxor multiple and am trying to find the best way to incorporate it without it being too frosty.

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Deep Throat was my first NARS blush and it's also my favourite. If you can't get NARS, MAC Hipness is a very close dupe. MAC Peachykeen can be a dupe but the colour is slightly darker than Deep Throat.

Orgasm is my second favourite and I usually wear it for the night. I love MAC blushes but NARS ones are better IMO

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Love Nars blushes but they are quite pricey.. so i was really pleased to find this amazing drugstore dupe of Torrid blush - its available in the UK at Superdrug - Famous by Sue Moxley blush in Ingrid Copper - it is so so so beautiful and goes on so smooth and buttery - its more of a cream/powder blush. The staying power is great and the colour is so true you can use it as an eyeshadow too - and it was only £6!!!!!!!!!

Re: My fave NARS blushes

I'm NC20 and have: orgasm, deep throat, outlaw, sin, and torrid. They are all so pretty (i still haven't tried outlaw though!) but my fave has to be Torrid. Very hot deep peachy, coral shade that gives off a very nice, subtle shimmer.

I really hope they come out with a new set of blushes soon! I'm really getting into NARS lately.

I'm about an NW10, do you think Zen could work as a contour on me? I can't swatch it because SpaceNK doesn't carry it in their range

I'm seriously fancying Madly aswell...ahh next time I have the money

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Taj Mahal is a pretty blush from Nars. I got the Super Orgasm blush but I didin't see all they hype about it.

I think it could work well - you can apply it lightly and build up if needed. Madly is gorgeous!!

I agree with a lot of your choices!

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Does Gilda turn orange? Which is more orange, Gilda or Deep Throat?

I thought Gilda looks more peachy in the swatches of Karla but the official description on Nars website is :
Gilda - coral
Deep Throat - peach with shimmer.

^^On me, Gilda is warmer than Deep Throat. If I had to pick one, I would pick DT.

Re: My fave NARS blushes

NW15. I love Orgasm, but I think it's very dupable, so I don't necessarily encourage people to rush out and buy it. I've also owned and loved Deep Throat, Angelika, Mata Hari, and Torrid, although I used the latter two mostly on medium/dark-skinned models.

Re: My fave NARS blushes

It's almost September and I'm going to get my NARS soon! I've decided to get Deep Throat for sure, and if it is out of stock I will pick up Desire. Albatross is calling my name too!

Re: My fave NARS blushes

I just recently bought Orgasm as it was ranted and raved about and I hadn't been able to get it in the UK so while here in the US I picked it up. I've yet to try it on but those swatches are making me wonder if I made the right decision.

Although it's sheer, would you say it's possible to build it to a nice shade?

Re: My fave NARS blushes

^ oh yes!

I wouldnt say that its sheer, i would say that the blush itself is hard compared to almost all other nars blushes that are super soft, so a lot of product gets picked up in one swipe. I kind fof push my brush into the pan to get a good amount of colour.

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Thank you! Hopefully it works out for me, I'd been wanting it for so long and I saw this and thought "Oh man, I really don't want to be disappointed!" lol

Fingers crossed!

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Nars blushes are still hands down my favourites. i've tried so many blushes from so many brands and I don't think any come even close. My faves are (I'm NW25 in sff most of the year):

- Deep Throat: this is my go-to blush. I wear it waaaaay too much
- Desire: awesome matte cotton candy. I use a powder brush to apply as this is very pigmented!
- Gilda: best coral shade ever. Looks gorgeous in the summer especially.
- Sin: I love this for a more dramatic look in fall and buffed in over bronzer in the summer.

I need to get some more Nars blushes! I haven't bought one in ages!

Re: My fave NARS blushes

Yayy for this thread!

My favorite blushes from NARS are Oasis and Lovejoy. I love Taj Mahal and Torrid for a pop of color.

I use Orgasm as a highlighter.

I actually passed on Rock & Republic's Shameless blush because it's a dead ringer for Oasis.
