I have yet to see a swatch comparison but apparently shock a holic is a dupe for Mufe 92... So.. pretty close.

i just checked hers out... man karla is a swatching master! i'm definitely getting the LE shadows, and that's it for now. i can get the rest later and i have enough glosses to last a lifetime and then some!

So far in this thread we've established that Crazy Cool is a little lighter than Beautiful Iris, and does not have the same duochrome, but is still a suitable dupe.

When I see the swatches on the MAC site it does look lighter than BI, so I want to compare them in real life because I am looking for something lighter to go with other purples (also looking at Crystal or Digit). So I may end up getting Crazy Cool in the end if it's what I'm looking for.

Edit: Based on Karla's swatch, Zingy looks damn close to MUFE #72. Closer to that than Electric Eel which was slightly more blue when I swatched them on my hand.

Re: MAC - Dare To Wear Discussion

i saw this in person the other day to pre order and i was disappointed in the shadows. They looked pretty in the pots, but some of the mattes really did not want to swatch! The glosses on the other hand were AMAZING!

Re: MAC - Dare To Wear Discussion

Yeah, I think I want Dare to Dare now too...*sigh* I was trying to be good...

mattes are notoriously badly behaved. maybe they'll look better over a base? i hope so anyway because i'm getting a fair few!

there's no being good when it comes to MAC, they're like that slice of chocolate cake when you're on a diet, you know you shouldn't but one can't hurt, right? and now i've thought of it, i really want some cake

Nah, nothing to worry about. Just make sure they place it correctly and you are fine. Like other said, go to someone who has lots of experience.

Do you remember which ones swatched badly?

Well I ordered 2 yesterday, so it's not 1, it's 3 I've never been good at dieting lol

Oh, and I agree with what you said about mattes being unruly sometimes. We have to remember that every formula warrants different kind of attention, y'know? You obviously can't swatch a matte the way you would a frost. The same goes for comparing different brands too.

with the exception of my first piercing, the same guy has all of mine, and he's fantastic. i'm just scared!

i'm sure someone said the lighter ones were harder to work with, but i could be remembering wrongly. karla has some info on which ones were better on her blog though

Re: MAC - Dare To Wear Discussion

I just looked at Temptalia's swatches... I still kind of want Gimme That! and Ban This! I'm excited for the ones I did buy though (Dare to Dare and Brash & Bold). Can't wait for them to come!

Re: MAC - Dare To Wear Discussion

I got my stuff already! So glad I didn't pay for overnight b/c I got it overnight anyway.

I got So Bad and Bold & Brash lipglass and Louder, Please and Sassy Grass shadow.

Louder, Please is gorgeous. The first thing I noticed is how my finger just slid across the surface. Not chalky at all and extremely pigmented. It's a bright hot pink, but I'm seeing some red in there. Maybe b/c I want to,but I think I do. LOL

Sassy Grass is the green of my dreams. Everyone knows it's matte. It, too is extremely pigmented. It's not as buttery smooth as Louder, Please but it's still very smooth. It's going to be a favorite!

So Bad is the lipglass I really wanted. I am slightly disappointed. It's not as rich and as dark of a coral as I wanted. It is very pigmented and full of shimmer, but it's kinda pinky orange. That's a bummer for me. I will keep it though and see how it works on the lips.

Bold & Brash is one of the most gorgeous colors I have ever seen! A beautiful juicy cherry red. I was drooling when I swatched it. If you love red, like I do, don't pass this up.

Ok, these lipglasses might be a problem. When I went to wash my hand, I got glitter everywhere. I'm betting it came from So Bad and not B&B. It looks like pinky glitter that I got on both of my hands. I was able to get it off of one, but it remains on the hand that had swatches. Makes me wonder what will happen when I wipe this off my mouth. Disco ball face anyone? Oh well...

Swatches coming.

I also got So Bad and Gimme That! l/g...

And yes,

dazzleglasses are sheer and these glosses are opaque so i imagine they would be quite different. i really want so bad, im on an orange kick lately

Re: MAC - Dare To Wear Discussion

How fast do you guys think the lipglasses from this collection will sell out? I won't be able to get to a counter til probably next Thursday. Should I order online or should I be pretty safe? I'm only interested in dare to dare.

I think you should be ok especially since you want the most subdued of the lipglasses. I'm shocked that people aren't more excited over this. I know there are perm shades are repromotes, but I think it's good stuff. It's not a massive collection, so I guess that's why. Don't kill me if I wind up being wrong, though.

For some reason I have a mental block when pairing shadows together nowadays. Maybe it's the heat. What do you ladies think I should pair with Sassy Grass? It can be bold or toned down. You can give me a specific Mac shade or a general color description. I really have no idea what I should do with it.

I would really like to side by side swatches of Crazy Cool, Beautiful Iris, Crystal, & Digit. And I am still debating Sassy Grass and Shock-a-holic. I tend to struggle with mattes, but of course some are easier to work with than others. I do love Lime and do not find it too difficult.

Re: MAC - Dare To Wear Discussion

I'm calling the MAC fs tomorrow to see if they'll hold some things for me because again I just dont feel like going before work tomorrow. Not really wanting first to try and gauge my time so I get to work on time and two I dont feeling like showing up in my FedEx clothes

Oh and on the subject of piercings besides the traditional 80's 3 holes in each ear I have a vertical industrial in my one ear. I had wanted the common one but due to my ear being small it wouldnt work. I never felt pain like that before.....felt like a 18-wheeler went through my ear!!

Re: MAC - Dare To Wear Discussion

I think I'll get Going Bananas, i'm feeling very brave !
Sassy Green looks gorgeous but it's the type of green that don't really work on me, sadly.
Skip the glosses, i have too many and want tto try to use them before they turn bad.

Can't wait to swatch the lipglasses! I think Bold & Brash will look HOT over Viva Glam Cyndi!

If I go by the MAC store, I will swatch these and report back...

Sassy Grass was a must-have for me b/c it's matte. Humid's frost leaves me frustrated.

I decided against Shock-a-holic b/c I just bought MUFE's #92 and it's great.

Hmm, I'm not really good with greens, but what about yellow/golds, corals, fuschia/pinks, blue/teal gradients...or green gradientsl, various purples...i'd just pull out a color wheel and go from there. hth

Hi, to tone down a green shadow I use a brown shade.
To give an idea even if it's totally different kind of green I pair Sweet & Punchy with Mulch and I love the outcome.
It's a neutral but with a kick.
Hope that helps

I've been wanting Plumage, too. I always put it off for some reason.
