Whoo Hoo! It's great... right? Dead on for my skin... NO oxidation. I love it.

I told myself I was going to stick to one to start, but I ended up unable to choose between La Sensuelle and La Fascinante. I was surprised at how different they both look on me... Oh dear. Wallet angry. Lips happy.

The reds are really beautiful, I think!

Yes, my lips are about as pigmented as Saran Wrap  LOL

I can't wait to try mine on Friday . . . do you use a liner or a brush when you apply the velvets??

 

Thanks for the link, Michelle! It is very very tempting! I'll be trying really hard to exercise will power for now, because I have spent about 550 bucks on makeup and beauty stuff in the past 3 weeks or so.

Winthrop44...what is your favorite velvet so far? Thanks for the swatches!!

My favorite so far is La Raffinee, but I really love La Fascinante and L'Exuberante too. What I don't love is how my lips feel after trying them all on & taking them off repeatedly in 1 afternoon.

 

Michelle, I have not been using a liner or a brush, I'm too lazy, but with the more intense/darker ones I tap the lipstick on and smoosh it around with my finger to wear it as more of a stain rather than full-on.

My bottom lip was actually bleeding in one spot after trying so many ls & glosses on.

Oh that's awful! I think my top lip is not far from that. I put on some balm before and it really stung.

Hope your lips heal soon, winthrop and elegant! Sounds painful! I have dry lips and if I forget to apply something moisturising for a few hours, they will hurt and the lower lip will split in the middle and bleed a bit. I'm really torn as to whether I should buy more velvets. I love the finish and the colours, but they aren't moisturising enough.

Shontay and Ingenue, great that you found the right shade for perfection lumiere! It's so hard to find a foundation with the shade and finish we like.

Okay, so I know I said I wasn't interested in the colors when the Rouge Allure Velvet Matte first came out here... but now, as usual when you ladies are talking about it... *tempted* 

 

Shontay, you look lovely (as always), and your skin looks so luminous. Pretty . I was wondering on how it would look like on someone with medium to darker complexion, I couldn't find it anywhere before, thanks for posting your look :).

 

Here's a swatch I made the other day... I'm so clueless with trying out new lipsticks b/c I don't want to test them out on my lips, but I still can't figure out how it would look b/c of my pigmented lips. I love the look of #39 La Somptueuse (wants something red-ish) and #34 La Raffinee (thanks to Shontay). Any advice? Do you think I'm on the right track?

Power came back on night before last - I had a crazy day yesterday catching up on all the things I couldn't do without it and hot water....laundry, dishwashing, work stuff.....I'm just grateful it's back on.  Only about 70% of my town even has power, so I'm counting my blessings!!!

Wow! Talk about suffering for beauty! I wore La Sensuelle last night and it felt really lovely. The one thing I would say is that, for a matte formula, I don't find these particularly long-lasting. Lipsticks don't tend to last that long on me anyway and my lips were a bit dry, which probably didn't help, but I found that the elements that make the formula comfortable to wear also tended to make it fade fairly quickly. I don't really care, since wear time on lipstick is never a factor for me... I'm in love with these...

Finally saw the Chanel Velvets in person...

 

Ravissante is a big fat no for me. Way too yellowy pink... not good. But the other colors that I ordered are going to be really flattering. I got all the reds and Raffinee.

 

I went home with L'Exuberante. Very good fuchsia pink... and more fuchsia than Carthage... so I'm happy.

Not the greatest picture, because I'd been wearing it for a few hours here and the light was crappy in my office, but this is La Sensuelle on me again. I should be able to post more swatches tomorrow. Today it's so dark and grey that I don't think you could see anything.

Ok. I just got La Ravissante and just as I predicted, I LOVE it! It's so flattering and just lovely. I can't decide which velvet I love more now. I would post a pic but I don't have my face on. That's scary because hello no eyebrows! Maybe tomorrow. I've just decided that I love these things so much that I probably will haul more anyway. Yes, even the red that I clearly don't need. I love how these things glide on and give full color. No need to go around and around your lips for coverage and it's so soft.

Got my Ravissante. I really like it on! On my lips its a soft slight pink slight burnt coral. I have some menswear sienna colored  plaid pencil skirt & cropped trousers that I think this might look great with. Or, my black pajamas

I'm loving these!!! They cover my lips nicely.
