just a quick update on how much i love my clarisonic and the deep pore brush! i swear mu skin has never felt so clean and soft! i have been using it since wednesday and have fallen completely in love. for the first time when i use my toner there is no trace of makeup or dirt on the pad after cleansing! i am going to get hubby a brush head because i think he will like it too :) i do however have a couple of spots on my chin but it is that time of the month so i am guessing that has something to do with those rather than the brush :)

I giggled at this. I don't like going for or getting waxed because I feel pressured to have conversations, lol. Just rip out ma hair/make me purtiful for a little while and keep it movin' lady, rofl!
Great suggestion. My eye cream isn't doing it for me so this will be a good way to use it up before I get something new.

That deep pore brush is glorious! love that thing.
I like argan oil on my face every once in a while. I get mine from Amazon; Watt's Beauty Argan Gold, waay cheaper than Maran's(which I've had as well) and the same thing, just no fancy label.
Right now i'm feeling okay with my face routine, but am preparing for it to change since I'm dropping the BC hormones. Joy. My main concern is finding an eye cream for my dark circles and puffiness. I feel like if I'm going to carry around these bags i should at least be able to use them to store snacks or something. Sheesh.

ha ha! this made me chuckle! well i hope that you find the perfect eye cream very soon. :)
i actually uploaded a skincare routine video on the specktra blog yesterday so for those interested then check it out. i just talk about which products I use and in what order - and what they actually do of course :)
i'm annoyed because i woke up this morning to find a spot on my chin - so annoying and hopefully it will go away quickly!

Lou--try the asprin thing on your spot like HG was talking about. I sometimes will crush a couple put a drop of water to make the paste and put it on the spot while I'm around the house. After it is really dry I'll them of course wash it off. Cortisone cream sometimes does pretty good. I've also put it on after I've washed the asprin paste off.
You might want to pick up some of the Origins spot remover to have on hand. I used to keep it around for my daughter and I if we needed it. But I had forgotten about it until HG mentioned it a couple of days ago. I'm not sure why I never replaced it last time because we did like it.

Lou, maybe using the brush has made your skin (even one) get a spot... it happened to me when I started using my brush -- it seemed to bring out all the gunk and junk that was deep down.
but like eyeshadowaddictedone is saying a small spot of aspirin mask is always helpful to quell the pimple and make it smaller.. if not get some differin gel... or the Origins spot remover.
I don't usually get any spots but I had a rough rough nasty weekend with a severe misunderstanding between myself and someone I thought I knew well.. and it turned out sadly but the whole mess affected me spiritually and physically to the point where I got not one blemish but three :( ... (SMILEYS ARE NOT WORKING).
right before I got on the plane I bought the Acne solutions line from Clinique.. the foaming cleanser, the toner and the blemish cover -- this was a quick DF purchase and necessary to have my face cleared up by Thurs when I head back to Italy. I have used it for 2 days now, and it seems to work although I am still using my Spot remover and some differin at night .. it feels like it's making my skin dry a bit but I can live with that because I have great moisturizers. I have stopped all night creams and treatments until this clears up.. an old bag with pimples~! (SCREAM cause no smileys).
I am going to do a full aspirin mask tomorrow and will report in on pimple progress.. lol.
meanwhile, if anyone is looking for a good cleanser with some salycilic acid in it, try the Clinique foaming cleanser.. it is excellent imo.

HG--So sorry you had a horrible weekend especially with someone you know, well thought you knew anyway. I hope your week is filled with blemish free smiles and happiness and arrive in Italy safely with gorgeous flawless skin. ![]()
So if I read that correctly you do the asprin mask all over your face. I've never done it all over. If you do i will try that. My t-zone gets really oily I wonder if it would help the little blackheads I get on my nose. My Clarisonic has taken away a good amount but having large pores it's hard to keep them totally clear.

eyeshadowaddictedone.. thank you for being so sweet. I don't trust people easily and therefore when someone breaks my trust I get really really upset.. this time my skin flared up in rebellion but I am handling it as best I can. I have a whole arsenal of acne products (I only had 3 pimples.. but that's 3 more than I have had in a few years!) and they seem to be doing their job on controlling the swelling and inflammation. I really like the Clinque Acne foam cleanser.. it cleans really deep down and leaves skin really soft and ready for any other treatments. I am also using the Acne skin solutions moisturizer which is very very light but enough to prevent my skin from drying out while it's being treated.
I did the asprin mask all over the face (I do spot treatments every once in awhile ..like on my T zone) and this also helps in reducing inflamation and redness as well as curing any bacterial situation going on... this mask helps to keep any blackheads or whiteheads from forming even if you use the Clarisionic.
mtrimier.. I have run across many eye creams which promise to lighten the under eye area circles as well as well as puffiness.. to be honest, I don't think these work well and they usually have a very temporary effect. I reduce puffiness (when I have flown more than 10 hours I do get a bit puffy eyed) with cold chamomile tea bags on my eyes.. or cold cloths on my eyes.. but again this is temporary.
I would love to find an eye cream that does really reduce puffiness.. maybe someone knows one?

Ok, since the sephora 20% off sale is coming I might try origins spot remover, even though I`m low on money ( it seems a never ending state).
As a cleanser I had Neutrogena oil free acne wash, redness soothing that includes salicylic acid, it did nothing for me, Not for the redness, not for the acne and it doesn`t clear the make-up well. I bought now cetaphil because I heard so many good things about it. I usually use a eye make-up remover, wash my face, tone, moisturize and in autumn-winter -spring I have to add something more.
Till I receive more of the argan oil I bought Eucerin 12% OMEGA, for dry, sensitve, redness... or something like this ( It`s written on italian and german) and after 2 uses my redness is gone, like clear so that`s good. The downside is the smell and it seems very heavy, like I can hardly spread it but my skin definitely feels more moistured and the dry peeling spots around my hairline are under control. It` s cheap compared to other products here, I paid like 13$ for 75 ml, I think 2 .5 oz?
I might try the aspirin mask , should I use it only on the area that is acne prone or all over the face?
Did anyone hear of Ana Aslan?

http://www.ana-aslan.ro/index_en.htm Gerovital is romanian brand of moisturizers that uses some of Aslan discoveries, she was one of the first women in the world to produce and use antiaging products like 60 yrs ago. I `m not quite positive but I think they `ve been bought by L`oreal. Anyway they are decent and almost everything is under 10$

thank you! i have been doing the asprin thing and the spot has dried up nicely. there is barely anything there now :) woo!

so sorry you had a crappy weekend and sorry that it made you break out too :( i hope that things get sorted too.
also i think you could be right about the clarisonic giving me the spot. i now have a couple more small ones near my hairline that have popped up from nowhere. perhaps this is just my skin cleaning itself out. luckily because they are near my hairline they are not very noticeable.

me too. i keep looking at things and putting them back. even with the F&F going on at sephora, and all the other random discounts i've been seeing, I just don't feel like spending the money on another jar that's just going to sit there. meh.

Hergreyness, since you have gone and dyed your hair, do you need to change your user name? with that and the botox I am sure you are looking fabulous.
I am curious Romi, if the Argan oil was used on your face? If so, any breakouts? I want to know before I invest.
Right now I am on a superstrict diet regimen so no oils on my body anywhere--just using glyercin and patroleum jelly for moisture and I am dried up so bad. My skin does not like the temperature changes or the drying of the heater.

Lou, I am so glad the aspirin mask is working for you... I do it once a week and it has always helped keep my skin in good shape. I guess since I am getting old my emotional resistance to certain things has broken down.. years ago, I would not care if someone let me down or tryed to mess with my head. Now it seems to matter more, maybe I am just getting overly tired too. But keep at the aspirin mask, and your Clarisonic as well as your treatments.. you will have gorgeous skin always!
I took off the whole week to spend with family again and will be travelling on Saturday! ... at least I can sleep past 5 am.. lol. My boys are so so so happy I am with them for their morning walks and they jump in the pool with me!
mtrimier.. me too! I still rely on my Shiseido Benefiance but only for easing fine lines and for general moisturizing... but so far nothing I have encountered has diminished any puffiness (I think that's only cured by surgery..lol -- which is something I might entertain in a few years .. I wanna get old like Raquel Welch.. ha).
martiangurl.... lol. My hair was meant to be grey when I got my nic.. due to all the mishaps I had with it getting grey, I have been black, white/black, copper, back to black and now am a true greyhead
.. kind of like back to square one. The botox on my forehead has been wonderful and I am really glad I did it.. my lines and furrows are almost gone and just fine tuned enough to maintain a fresh youthful look... I hope I look better, if not fabulous
.. but I will not hesitate to get my restylane on another trip home.. I passed this time cause I did not feel well emotionally... and truly, today I was listening to music and I heard the song my Jeff and I used to dance to a lot.. and I just started crying.. it is so hard to be without my best friend. Hang in there with your diet.. have you tried Cetaphil.. it works on severely allergic people and the most dry skins I have ever seen.
anyway.. I have been redoing all my mu yet again and one thing I will insist all of you need is the Chanel Clair eye pencil... it really makes the eyes shine and takes away any redness and agey feel. It is a total bu worthy product for me!
my blemishes are gone too.. and today was the first day I actually wore mu and had lunch with a friend![]()

romi, I just saw your post.. yes, I know of these products but have yet to try them...I might give them a shot when I get back home to Fla. tho! Thank you!
as for the Argan oil, I got it an have used it on my body but not on my face -- I had those little blemishes and did not want to further irritate them.. just in case. It is nice on the body.. but I am still not convinced if the oil will not be too heavy on the face. My mom has offered to be my guinea pig.. she has drier skin and no hormones, and therefore will not break out.
will update.

flying back and forth and on airplanes always makes me dehydrated.. like bone down.
I am back to using my nightcreams again as well as my oils since my skin is clear now.. SIGH
.. I did however get really chapped lips which is unusual for me too.
Too many climactic changes I think.
they are still sore although I coated them with Acquaphor for the last two days and they seem to be improving enough so I could put some ls on today.. but yesterday was Aquaphor on my lips and also on the small lines around my eyes.. I now have to investigate on what to do for them surgically.. lol.

I've heard on a hair forum that using activated charcoal works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z5jrz8GsaE
A lot of the ladies will use a natural toothpaste from Welda and use the charcoal at night. Works great also if you have sensitive teeth and gums. It's working great for my husband and I so far.

i'm using reversa eyecare - supposedly anti-puff and dark circles. i don't have puffiness yet - i use it for my dark circles - so i can't comment on that part, but it does help the darkness somewhat (the rest is either concealable, or a lost cause - bit of both)
anyway, nice thing is it doesn't contain parabens!

I have not tried Reversa, but I will certainly look it up.
I am in a colder climate now and my skin is again acting out of control.. I am feeling it taut and drier and will commence with my creams and more potions... since I started swimming again today, I noticed my body skin is more dry and in need of more moisturizing. I have Body Shop and Aveda products but will see how these work in the new climate where I am living.
loving my :LaMer creme again tho.

I just bought the Body Shop Hemp hand cream I have heard so much about. It does smell a bit weird at first but feels so good on my hands. The smell goes away very quickly after you rub it in.
I went to my dermatologist Monday to give my moles a once over and wanted one removed from the side of my neck. It wasn't that big just annoying. There was also this little thing on my right upper cheek that was kind of like a mole. I also have been bothered by these tiny little white bump thingies on my forehead and some around my eyes. I have been looking up all kinds of stuff and it appeared to be Milia and I was right. Having oily skin contributes to this as well as age and sometimes using creams and such. I think she said women tend to get this more because of the stuff we put on our faces and around our eyes. She cut the mole off my neck and zapped the right cheek and a bunch of the little milia spots. I'm going to go back and get the rest done as there are a few more small ones around my eyes I want gone. With makeup I can cover these but I hate them and of course I am always examing my skin in my 7X or 10X mirrors.
She also gave me a script and samples of Atralin. It's like Retin A but not as drying so your skin doesn't just peel off and be raw. Even with my oily skin Retin A was harsh. One great thing about this also is insurance will cover it unlike Retin A where it would not cover it if you're over 18. She also had a coupon so it won't cost more than $25 per tube, now that's a bargin. She said this should have many benifits for me, that it will help control the oil somewhat, help with breakouts like the blackheads I get on my nose. She said it will help slow down the return of Milia and has anti-aging benefits. So I'm all for this. I hope it works well for me. I can probably go ahead and start using it but I'm waiting for the zapped spots to heal all the way. They just scab over and fall off. She said I could wear makeup and all but since I've just been around the house and a run to Target I haven't bothered.
Has anyone tried Atralin? If so what'd ya think of it?
HG--glad to hear things are going well and you're loving the botox still. It's good you got to spend some time at home with family. How is your sister doing?

HG - I tried the aspirin mask and lo and behold... the acnes disappeared
. I also love love love the Clarins cream. I'm going to get it right after I finished the 5ml samples :D.
Btw, for the hair, I sometimes suffer from dry hair when the weather is changing... so I used L'Oreal Kerastase Elixir Ultime as some sort of leave in oil. I love it because it's making my hair shiny and healthy and not overly greasy.

eyeshadowaddictedone.. I have heard of Atralin and might get some when I go back thru south america.. lol. I had my botox there and it was suggested to me but it was deemed not really necessary (omg.. sorry for the bold type, this just got like that by itself !).
my botox is doing really well and now that my skin is cleared up, I am doing fine on that front. Back to my Clarins creams and all my potions..I do have the hemp hand cream and am using some Aveda body creams on my legs and arms (the chlorine and the cold are doing a number on them).. other than that.. I just want to thank you for your kindness in asking about my sister... she is hanging on, and hanging tough -- as well as we can expect with no chemo and just good nutrition and lots of loving and caring. I skype with her everyday and miss her so much.
Cutie.. YAY! I am so glad it is working for you. A good way to keep the skin under control without overdoing the chemicals. Glad you are going to get the Clarins cream.. you will enjoy it alot.
I wanted to address the topic of mu for looking younger. I just wrote a review/report on some products which are targeted for women 40+ and found that because the trend is glittery/metallic, the idea is to upcharge a product and make it more appealing to an older and more affluent group. I don't agree with this premise because one thing is to buy a Birkin bag, quite another to glop up your face with glitter and shimmer when you are more mature. I guess if I worked in LV, and on a stage, I might have been tempted but as it stands, the less mu I wear on my face (I mean lighter products), and the more natural my skin looks, I tend to look my best.
I do love a good eyemakeup, but even there I am using more subtle colours and less blacks.. a big change for ?me from 5 years ago! .. I do love my blush tho and that is something I will not give up or I look meat lockered... and and.. I disagree with the old adage that mature women should only wear light/nude/soft colours on their lips. I am doing my reds, my fuschias alternating with nudes.. but I ain't giving up vamp.
Hogwash I say.. anyone have any suggestions

To me, it isn't about age, its about attitude. I do agree with avoidance of too much glitter as it may draw attention to (my nonacknowledged) wrinkles, but I think peeps of all ages should avoid the disco ball effect.
Anyone here who knows a good hyaluronic acid eye cream (or face cream that is eye safe) they can recommend that isn't too expensive? Olay's just made me flake and the area needs some moisture. I cannot tolerate retinoids on the eyelids, everywhere else is fine.

martiangurl.. I am not sure right now cause it's almost 2 am.. lol.
I use Neostrata Bionic Serum and the Bionic Eye cream.. it's quite good and priced reasonably.. I use this on alternating days with my EL Advanced.. just cause I have noticed that my skin reacts much better when I switch products around. I don't believe it has hyaluronic acid.. but is a cocktail of peptides.
You might want to look into Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle eye.. I bought this but have not opened it yet. I do use the PTR Unwrinkle moisture cream for the face again alternating days, and I find it keeps my skin soft and firm.

HG--good to hear your sister is hanging in there. It's great that she is eating healthy and having a supportive family around her can do wonders. I'm sure that you keeping in touch with her daily really makes a huge difference in keeping a positive spirit. So many people that go through this just push family and friends away and isolate themselves when they need them the most.
No glitter for me. I agree that on mature women it would just look tacky and just not a tasteful look. I also see the point of wearing what makes you feel good and at a mature age if you want to wear glitter by all means do so. But for myself that isn't the look I want.
I'm also doing more with blush now hoping to add a bit of color in my cheeks. I love vampy lips on other women but I haven't ventured out of the house yet with them. I do wear them sometimes around the house so perhaps i will be brave and go for it.
How do you recommend using the Chanel Clair eye pencil? Also do you know how it differs from MAC Chomagraphic flesh tone pencil in NC15/NW20? Does it give a different look?

martiangurl..
HG, Do either of these have retinoids? I have heard very good things about the Neostrata...I guess I can look them up. I do love my EL products, so I could deal with EL advanced and prolly get a deal on ebay or hunting the CCO. (Or wait for free gift time!) I guess us women of a certain age really do gravitate towards the EL products...
I will wait for your review on the PTR Unwrinkle eye. I am dealing with some nasty eyelid flaking right now which I think is related to rosacea and so no new products at the moment. This really sucks.

I just looked at that hemp hand cream. especially since the body shop is having buy whatever # of things/get whatever # of things promos right now.
I didn't buy it, however, because a wild beer appeared and I got sucked into the evil of QVC, lol! that channel turns my brain into a turnip, and i ordered a clairsonic opal, oops.
right now i'm trying Korres Quercetin & Oak Antiageing & Antiwrinkle Eye Cream. Might return it though. It has fragrance in it, and while it's an ok smell, I don't really care for my eyes to smell flowery. I mean really, who sniffs eyeballs and goes, "Oooh you smell niiice!". Srrsly, lol.
I'll ponder it for a few more days, but so far I'm not seeing any difference.
i will look up the Reversa and Neostrata things and add them to my "Ponder List".

eyeshadowaddictedone.. thank you so much again for your well wishes for my sister. Yes, she is at least enjoying what's left of her life a lot more... and that brings me peace of mind.
as refers the Chanel Clair.. I saw it used at the shows a lot so I picked one up and started to use it on the waterline... it brightens the eyes and makes them look perky and bigger somehow... it only compares to the MAC Chromographic in that they are both light shades but not in quality. The MAC chromo is not waterline friendly on me and usually ends up in my tear ducts, plus when I wear my contacts, it stings my eyes... the Chanel is perfect and doesn't run into the tear ducts and doesn't bother me one iota when I wear my lenses.. I just took them out and I still have the Clair on my waterline. It is an excellent product.
I went out shopping this afternoon and wound up getting a gorgeous pair of ankle boots.. just simple black suede platforms but made of the most gorgeous buttery caramel suede. I love good shoes and will always splurge on shoes and handbags .. I agree totally on the fact that mature women should have the attitude to dress as they please, but I am also keenly aware of many changes which I need in my wardrobe and mu now.. i.e. I will not wear any green es now (greyed greens are fine) because they seem to be on a collision course with my hair and skin now).. I love my vamply lips, but am wearing mostly vampy stained lips -- and the new Chanel MAtte Velvets.. just amazing products. And for highliters, I am always looking for a very low key, easy and skin like tone .. my EL Mercury highliter is the best so far!
matriangurl... I believe these don't have retinoids, but peptoids.. lol... but I do use the Neostrata serum and eye cream and they both do a good job of keeping my skin in good condition. I will start using the PTR next Monday and will observe how it works and report back.
mtrimier.. lol @ QVC and sniffing eyeballs.. but I agree with you on both counts. Generally fragrances anywhere near my eyes make me watery eyed so this might not be a great product for me... I do know you will enjoy your Clarisonic and your skin will love it. Watch out for mini breakouts when you first start tho!
I will be doing some research on the reversa products this weekend.. that is if I ever get to bed![]()

i love that hemp hand cream! it's super intense...(highly effective on alligators like me). i use to keep a tube in my handbag, but i kind of forgot about it the last while...now that you've reminded me, i think i'll probably try to pick up a new tube sometime soon!
