After update I played with Beth Mask. I used Painterly paint pot as a base, applied the peach color over the lid, the burgundy color in the outer v and slightly into the crease, then I used a brown shadow (I think it was Swiss Chocolate) to blend and "set" the burgundy grease paint stick with a 217 brush and it came out as a gorgeous look for nights out. I may even redo it tonight and post it so you can see that Beth Mask isn't bad. Beth Mask was the only one I actually tested.. I swatched the other three, didn't like them which is why I chose Beth Mask as my tester. She gave Magenta blush a bad rating but I showed customers that with a light hand and a 168 brush they could achieve great results. *sighs* As I always say, take reviews with a grain of salt.

Thanks Bee! That sounds like a gorgeous look. Please post pics if you can.
I agree about reviews. As always YMMV. This particular blogger has given horrible reviews to quite a few things that I find are easy to use and gorgeous while giving glowing reviews to sub par but costly products. I appreciate her swatches greatly but generally tune the reviews out now.

I did not expect these to be an amazing product, they seemed kind of gimmicky to me from the start. But I didn't think that they would be that bad. I believe that most of the times there will be a way to make a product work. Even thogh personally I'm not willing to buy products that I have to put a lot of effort in to make them work.
I disagree with her reviews frequently though, that's why I always take it with a grain of salt. But I'm still a little surised at how bad that review is.

Truthfully I really agree with Christine saying why bother working so hard with a product when there are so many other amazing products that we can use instead. I liked the colors in Beth Mask but have so many similar colors that I'm glad I'm not hearing a rave review, I'll stick with my items in my stash & buy a bottle of wine with the money saved lol

Ha ! You're welcome. I used Painterly as a base, it can't get any simpler that that. LMAO. I didn't do any special tricks to achieve the look. Using bases are extremely common in makeup application. And as I mentioned on my blog, I use paint pots and chromalines as bases AND primers because those products don't crease on me. I don't even buy products like UDPP or TFSI anymore because paint pots and chromalines are like two-in-one products (for me). I've shown that products like Magenta blush and Cut Loose lipglass do work and you don't have to put in effort to make it work. Yes... Cut Loose looks unflattering alone, but it DOES NOT take extra effort to dab Cut Loose in the middle to highlight and add effect to your lip color. SMH So I plan on reusing my Beth Mask soon only this time, I will use Cranberry or Sketch eyeshadow instead of Swiss Chocolate. I'll definitely post a picture of the eye look!!
I swatched the liners yesterday. Beth Mask was the one shadow liner I wanted from this collection, and while the color payoff was good, the colors weren't unique enough for me (trying to cut back as I've spent way too much already). The other liners had terrible color payoff - I had to worked them back and forth several times just to get the color to show up as it should. Complete skip for me - only thing I purchased from this collection was Embrace Me and I don't really count that as it's a repromote.

I'll post a look using them by Monday, but these definitely aren't a must-have. And if someone wanted to buy one, Beth Mask is the only one I would recommend. I didn't like the other ones when I swatched them at update.. I just wanna show everyone (those gals who bought one before her review) that these are doable and it's not hard to make them work.

Have fun tonight! I always love it when i have a lot of time to spend on my face. I will only pick up another back up of Embrace Me with this collection. I'm really not feeling this collection, but that's good because i can save my money for HC.

i love how both the lippies look on you, and although i think cyy is tough one to photograph accurately, i think DD just has that extra something....
i'm so excited to receive my package...i guess it'll be monday.
although the difference in your pic is somewhat subtle, based on how the light reflects on the two lipsticks, i'm hoping DD will be easier for me to wear than cyy...it would be good for me to look back and try to find some combos with liners that tone cyy down a little so i feel more comfortable wearing it...i feel bad not wearing it, and though i often give things away to my cousins or friends that i don't wear but i think would suit them, i think if i handed them cyy they might think i'd lost my mind!
you know, there's a part of me that also wants to get nars carthage...what's wrong with me? if it wasn't enough to be collecting purple lipsticks, i'm now collecting corals and now neon pinks!

Over the past few months I've ended up with a few lipsticks that aren't great for me -- too bright, too dark. Do you think Cut Loose could help me make these more wearable??
Thanks so much for your help.

Carthage is lovely though, my fav bright pink lipstick. Good thing it is perm.
It's much more wearable than cyy, a grown-up version.

Cut Loose will only brighten lipsticks.
If a lipstick is too dark, Cut Loose will help brighten it... also a liner that's lighter than the lipstick and in the same color family would help (Example: Embrace Me lip liner would brighten Girl About Town).
If a lipstick is too bright, a brown liner will help tone it down. Liners like Stripdown, Have to Have It (LE but still available on the website), Spice, Hover, and Cork are great options depending on your skin tone.

Honestly I think having CYY on only half of lips made it look more wearable than it really it is! I need more liners to play with cyy, maybe nightmoth or currant-I think those should do the trick lol. I even blotted it down took a pic and it was still majorly neon! My sister, the 80's die hard looked at me crazy when I showed her Carthrage so no way I could give her cyy! It is really a nice color though. Corals look so good on us though...I'm kinda late on that train!
