NARS Andy Warhol collection - Page 7

I can't get over how pretty those individual nail polishes look. Some of those are definitely coming home with me...

I've been wanting to try NARs but haven't had the chance yet. I've always been super obsessed with Warhol so I can't wait for this! I'm a real sucker for packaging.

Is anyone pre-ordering for this or is the sell-out rate for NARS less insane than MAC?

I may reconsider a couple of those polishes too. They were automatically off of my list because I didn't buy polishes over $5. That policy was obliterated this week. Oh Chanel... th_rolleye0014.gif

NARS is a lot less insane than MAC, thank goodness!

I was thinking about the same products... I also caught myself thinking that if I were very good and didn't buy any of the other sets, I could justify Silver Factory. Then again, since that one is available at select locations only, I doubt it will show up here in Montreal.

i am also curious to see swatches of larger than life lipglosses (not the set)
my wallet is thankful - i don't like any of the sets

Wow!  I love the Self-Portrait shadows.  I don't know if I'll get one though.  I have a feeling they will be hard to get my hands on.  I also love the eyeshadow trio and the black glitter pencil but I probably won't buy the whole set for them.

Normally, no; but since this is Andy Warhol, you have people in the art world and collectors that are already plotting for sure. And then there's the Debbie Harry palette, she has major fans! Edie does too. I think normally you are fine, but this time, I would try to get what you want as soon as you can.

That photo of Warhol in the blond wig, wearing red lip and tie. He is SERVING!!!! It's a great photo. Goes well with the collection.

I think I want the Edie set. I already have the Edie eyeshadow though, which is a shame.

Does anyone have info on the UK release date/prices?

The black polish sounds amazing. I can never find a black polish that is quite right, the one from this collection sounds great based upon Christine's review. I love the teal and purple black and white combinations I am seeing with this collection!

On to the popularity of the Andy Warhol this year, Campbell's just released commemorative cans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Campbell Soup can painting. I saw them today when I was at target. I loved the colors of the cans and the Andy Warhol quotes on the labels. Andy Warhol is everywhere.
I didn't buy any because I don't like tomato soup, but I saw this woman being very selective about the cans she picked. Instantly I thought they would look good on display in the kitchen. Hmmmm

I googled some of the names of the products in the collection today and got a serious history lesson. Of all things Andy Warhol. He was so influential and put a lot of people out there in the spotlight. I knew his work was important, but it was more than just paintings and screenprints.

Here's a review of Self Portrait 2 palette.

I'm going to get this, but now I'm wondering whether I'll really use it after I buy since one swipe takes away the face.:(

that sattelite of love blush is what I wanted WWealth to be.

definitely getting that black polish.  I'm not sure about the self portraits or flowers palettes.  I wouldn't want to ruin the overlay, so what is the point in buying if I am not going to use it, right?

Swatches & reviews up on Temptalia.

Tell me about it!

A self portrait palette is the only item I want to get, but now I'm not sure since it's just overspraying.:(

If it's just overspraying and one swipe takes away the face, I don't think it's worth of buying (it's $55!!!) and I think it's better to buy other nice eyeshadows which are cheaper.

I'm not paying that price for an overspray. :(

but I am getting the highlighter. I collect NARS blushes so... there you go.

Temptalia just posted the review for Self portrait 1 and I'm really disappointed since one swipe really takes away the face.

I am too. I really wanted one but now I know if I get one I'll only want to collect it and not use it, and for $55 that's a lot.

The only thing I really want as of now is the nail set and maybe the Debbie Harry palette. Perhaps the Edie set too.

I agree. Without the face, the palette looks really horrible.

If I want to use it and don't want to take the face away, maybe I should use a tiny little brush and be careful not to put the brush on the overspray, but I think it'll get me upset.:S

I wish there were more lipsticks and blush in this collection, or the quality in the eyeshadow palettes was better. I'm not a fan of Nars' eyeshadow formulation in general, though - too much fallout!

I bought the cans so I could display them in my kitchen and I love it. I thought about emptying the cans to use them to hold pens or eyeliners, etc.

I've been reading and learning a lot about Warhol for the past few months. He is completely fascinating and there is so much to learn about him that isn't as well known as his paintings. I think even the stories behind a lot of his work isn't widespread either. That being said, I'm totally in the height of my obsession right now and want to buy these palettes just to stare at them. That's not too practical for my wallet though.

I'm getting Satellite of Love Highlighting Blush and Candy Says Larger Than Life Lipgloss. The rest are passable.

Satellite of Love looks promising. I think it could work on my skin tone. I was afraid it would be too light and wouldn't even show up as a highlighter.

Initially I wanted Self Portrait 2, but there's no way I'm paying that much for a bad quality palette. I could overlook the overspray if the eyeshadows were amazing, but that's not the case. I think I'll go for Satellite of Love and possibly the Edie set (only because I want the blush duo!). Nothing else.
