i tried it over Fresh Honey (Naturally) and it made the most awesome pinked coral color...

I went back to try and order stuff, everything I had thought about going back for was OOS.  I really wanted the green e/s after all, but it was gone, so I snagged Jealous Wakes instead.  LOL

I have to say that it actually looks lovely on you!  When I first saw the swatch of Salute, my first instinct was that it would look gorgeous mixed with Playing Koi.

Maybe you could mix it with Keep It Loose Lip & Cheek color.  Or, you can mix it with another one of the Lip & Cheek colors that are either more pink or orange

depending on the type of neutral shade you prefer.  My own tip is to use a sparkly silver gloss over nude shades to make them breathtaking eyelove.gif.  For example, mix

Fleshpot with Astro Cool Lipglass.  You can even try using Astro Cool if you have it.  As an alternative, you can take a pale green Lip Tar, Lo-Fi from OCC, and make a neutral

shade more yellow based.  For example, try mixing Lo-Fi with Interlace and it will turn into more of a concealer shade.

Here's how I feel about it........... throwup.gif........... LOL. Not a flattering shade for me! I paired it with Summerfruit cremestick liner. I'm determined to figure out what to mix with it to make an actual flattering shade lol

Look what we did - or look what YOU did??? girlhaha.gif

What do you think of Deep Throat and Lustre? I tried Lustre but I found it too shimmery for me. I'm most interested in Gilda but they don't have it at Sephora. Might have to wait until my next US trip; I'd want to try it on me.

It looks like they restocked some of the HS items. Sail la vie, Salute, Feeling Fresh

correction : they restocked everything but Red Racer

Restock!

Scored feeling fresh only thing I really had regret on
post #4027 of 4349

Gah, now I want Cut Loose! I'm making a deal with myself that if it's around after I return from my trip on the 12th then I can get it...I get paid Friday while I'm gone!

Thank you! The eyeshadow had faded to a more natural feel by that time of day lol, but I used some colors from the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette. I love my pinks and purples :-) You're welcome for the welcome lol. Always great to see new people joining in the conversation! How do you like your Hey, Sailor items?!

Anyone think jaunty is very close to Patina...  I'm going to go home and compare them.

Thank you that's very sweet of you to say! I think Salute makes me look a little ill, though lol Maybe if I did a dark bold smokey eye! hmmmmmm

I think Jaunty and Patina would be in a similar Taupe color family, but I feel Patina is a little more golden brown whereas Jaunty is kind of a lighter beige. I think they would look really lovely paired together, though!

Thank you! I don't have Playing Koi, but I'm sure I can come up with something similar. Those are great ideas to think about, thank you so much for sharing!  I should try it with my Revlon lip butters and see what I can come up with! I bought Out For Fun, but I'm refusing to buy any more of them, because it's always a snowball effect if I don't limit myself! I give in and buy a few here and a few more there til I get most or all of them (see: Extra Dimension eyeshadows, lol). I have Ethereal lipglass, but that's probably the only sheer color I have.

I had the inkling that Cut Loose was one of those sleeper lipglasses - it's not a standard tinted lipglass that can be worn by itself. Whenever I see Temptalia review a lipglass as "milky and streaky" I take that to mean: pair it with a lipstick and it will be aweeesome! I'm intrigued by Cut Loose but still on the fence, because I'm not sure if there are alternatives to it out there..

Ordered Cut Loose l/g and done with Hey, Sailor for sure! LOL!

EDIT://

I know that Jaunty e/s recently got restocked and for those that want Jaunty, Blessedly Rich and/or Riviera Life, PM me if you are interested. I plan to sell them so I don't want to be a hoarder to have backups of them.

Exxxactly!  I looked for alternatives from other brands and couldn't find anything.  Personally, I've never seen anything like Cut Loose, which is the reason why I decided to play with it.  I'll use it again with a totally different lipstick and post a picture in here.

Yes, indeed. The shade brings out my freckles and accentuates them in a way that makes it look like I'm ill lol.  Some of the swatches looked sooo intriguing it made me cave and get it. I'm going makeup hunting at Ulta tomorrow so maybe I'll see if I can come across anything that would play nicely with Salute lol. I'm determined to find a way to make this work!

Salute might not be a color you usually wear, but you pulled it off beautifully! Hope you will figure out what to mix with it so you will like it more. It might look gorgeous with smoky eye? heart2.gif

I saw MAC re-stocked the collection. Hope I'll stay strong! LOL

Hahaha, well I did it, but you gave me the ideas thud.gif

Deep throat is nice. I am wearing some madly and luster today, but I slapped it on this morning in a hurry so I cannot judge that one yet. I do like douceur, nico, orgasm, deep throat and laguna. The rest I still have to try properly. I think Gilda would be very pretty, but it was not available in the online European shop alas....

It's funny you should say that, I just got Patina the other day and was comparing it to Jaunty! It's darker and cooler than Jaunty, in my opinion :)

I went to Ulta today to check out the NYX lip liners and they were all opened up and the tips were broken off :( animals! lol. Anyway, still on the hunt for what might work with Salute, but I did pick up Crystal Soda lip gloss!

Ohh and Revlon makes a clear sparkly lipgloss, it's one of their new shades. I thought it might be close to Cut Loose, but it doesn't have the same milkiness that CL does. I think it's worth checking out though! It's a gorgeous gloss to use for layering :)

I ordered Orange Tempura. I finished my first Fresh Air lipglass and didn't want to open my BU quite yet, so I'll probably switch it out for OT. Maybe it'll work with Salute!

I honestly liked the white Hey Sailor gloss the best over Salute.

Then again, Salute looks really good on me to begin with, for a very skin-tone nude.

I'm NC15 with more yellow undertones in the summertime when I've got some tan. Maybe instead of looking for a good lip pencil to make Salute look good on you, you should instead try to find a good bronzer to adjust your skintone just a touch in the undertone department? That's my recommendation, but honestly from your photo, I thought Salute looked really excellent on you and very very stylish!

Thank you for the compliment! I think that's the key right there is finding a good balance of colors to make it a complete look, otherwise of course the color will look "off". Salute itself isn't what needs more work but more of a big picture kind of thing to really bring the whole face of the day together. With the pink/purple eye combo I wore during the day, it definitely didn't agree with Salute when I tried it on, but there are better flattering colors to pair with it, too lol. I'm going to play around with a smokey eye. I'll see what I can come up with.

That's a good idea with the bronzer, I agree it would definitely change it up. I'm a bronzer-phobe lol, but I do have Harmony blush, Urban Decay baked bronzer, and a Too Faced one that I will bring out sometimes. I tend to be a little neutral-toned, but sometimes more pink or more yellow can shine through.

Whoop Whoop! lol I've put countless of gals from Specktra on game about Crystal Soda. hehe!  I hope you find some NYX lip liners soon ! I promise they're great and are just as good as MAC's.

I might have to resort to online shopping for my NYX fix. Ulta didn't have nearly the selection Cherry Culture does. I also got Pink Rose lipgloss. Really digging that one so far, too!

I'll post pics in a little bit testing the Smokey Eye With Salute Theory :-)

Yea, Cherry Culture is your best bet for NYX products because they sell EVERYTHING NYX offers. lol

Ahh good. Every time I try to shop on there I'm always overwhelmed by the choices there are haha. Eventually I will place an order with some good NYX goodies! cheerleader.gif

I made an attempt at a smokey eye, which I probably could have added more "smoke" lol, but you get the idea with the eyeliner.

I used some bronzer, too as per Liba's suggestion blended with some Launch Away blush.

I'm really happy with how it turned out! I think it made Salute a little more wearable for me.

Duckrodeo, I actually really like the look you made. I have Salute! too and will have to try something similar. I think it would look really nice in fall actually. As for NYX, ya it's a pain when they are opened and swatched. Yes, it really angers me when people do that. I have noticed that some of the stuff is sealed now. I have some of the lip liners and eye liners. I need to try out my slide on eyeliners. I also have some of the lippies which are usually sealed for the most part. If you find a really good lip liner from NYX please post it in the thread.

The NYX stuff at my Ulta is like that too :/. I hope they start sealing their glosses some day because I want to try them, but it's SO hard to tell if they've been messed with.

Very nice Duckrodes, what colors did you use on the eyes?

Thank you so much ladies! It was definitely a fun experiment and I appreciate all the feedback! It helped inspire me to keep working to find a way to make Salute wearable as a complete look. It's definitely not an Every Day face, but a fun adventure in make-up for sure! Now I don't have to be so afraid of Salute flower.gif

For the eyes I used Nubile p/p as a base, Bisque all over the lid, and Charcoal Brown in the crease. Hocus Pocus is the "smokey" part and Jaunty was blended on the lid. Creamy Bisque was my highlighter. I used Blitz & Glitz fluidline for liner and blended out with Urban Decay's matte black from the Naked 2 palette (I think it's Blackout). For mascara I used two coats of Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes and a top coat of Urban Decay's Supercurl mascara.
