I'm a bit dissapointed with the shadows, but maybe other swatches will change my mind. I'm in love with Fire Sign love.gif That one will for sure come home with me. For the rest i think i still want all msfs, Supernova blush, Strictly Plutonic csg and Astral csg. I really want to see swatches of Sky, because that was the mes i was most excited for.

I think swatches of mes are particularly tricky to take because depending on what part of the swirl you swatch the colour of the swatch can vary dramatically. I really like the up close pan photos. Last year, I thought karla sugars swatches were the most accurate
post #1413 of 7900

I only ever use my MES wet, so dry swatches are always so tricky to judge!

I'm Yuki the owner of the blog "Yuki's Lazy Channel." My English is poor.cry.gif Please forgive my poor English.I'm SORRY for my bad swatches photos :D. My swatches always comple at press events. In the event,I always have one or two hours to do all swathes, and the place of press event usually doesn't have a good lighting to take pictures. I'm not a profession photographer and don't have a DSLR, So I just can do my best to show the collections.I'm glad there're so many people  to watch my swatches.blush-anim-cl.gif

I think her swatches are great, they definitely helped me a lot. I think it's pretty obvious that the MES are not applied wet and that they will look different in someone elses pics, in T's swatches they'll probably look more intense and you will be able to see the sheen and shimmer better.

I buy all my MAC online, so I completely depend on swatches and reviews. That's why I always share the links when I see something, I know it's hard to make a list when you can't see the products in person. And it sucks to end up with something that is not how you expected it, especially when you're on a tight budget. So I really appreciate the time people take to make swatches and take pics, upload them etc.

edit: Thanks for your swatches, Yuki :)

Yuki! I spent a lot of time looking at many older collections on your website yesterday. I like your swatches! Thank you for sharing with everyone.

I was actually stalking Yuki's website all day yesterday while working, and left work just minutes before they were posted! Yuki, thanks a lot for the swathces!

Hi Liba (and Yuki),

I don't want my comment to be misinterpreted. When I said that I hope the MSFs are more promising than in the pictures, I meant that I'm disappointed in my first view of the product. The pictures themselves are very helpful and I'm glad that Yuki posted them. They show the glitter in the product. I am looking forward to more photos to confirm my first impression. In no way did I mean that the first shots had no value, simply that I need to see larger swatches to know what I want to get. I typically look at a variety of swatches before I feel comfortable that I have a good sense of what the product might look like on me. I personally need to see larger swatches (preferably on face) before I really know. In no way does that mean that this early view isn't helpful; it gives a good sense of how the colours blend together.

We appreciate you sharing, Yuki. :)

Aww thanks Yuki! Your swatches are great considering, they give me a good idea of what will work or not.  Thank goodness you get to go to the events so early because we were over here dying for swatches!

I agree completely! I have a blog and my pictures are not the best, but it shouldn't stop anyone from wanting to post them and if others don't like them, then they don't have to visit my blog. I do it because I enjoy it, not to please others.

Of course you always have to remember that it can look a lot different in life with the finish, method of application, skintone, quality of camera, etc. Not everyone has the resources to get a fancy SLR with macro or whatnot. I find it that pictures give you a very rough estimate of a product and that you should still give it the benfit of a doubt and see in stores yourself. I am going to wait to see these in stores. I love the ultra watery metallic-ness of the extra dimensions, so I hope the MSFs here have the same intensity. I LOVEEEE whisper of guilt. LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE :3

Yuki, thank you so much for your swatches and all the work you put into your blog. Very much appreciated! And may I say I'm so jealous of you for being able to see the new collections this far ahead. :)

although we cleared it up already, i got an official answear from mac, that the promo pics of stratus and ring of saturn were mixed up. stratus is the purple one.

Hi Yuki, your English is fine and we love your swatches. It really does help. I don't think your swatches were bad at all. It's always tricky with lighting and skin coloring as well as the products.  We do appreciate your hard work and it really does help. Thank you!friends.gif

I DO think her close up photos are really great here - especially the MES. You can tell very easily how the swirls are different colors and different textures, including some swirls that are almost matte and some that are super glittery, with sheen-style swirls (like Semi-Precious sheen) mixed in.

As my MA said, half the blushes and MSFs are glittery and the other half are new, improved sheen, as good or better than SP. The eyeshadows are broken down into glittery, sheen-y and more matte. From Yuki's swatches, it seems like if you want more or less glitter, you just have to swirl hunt for ones with the thinnest or thickest swirls of the colors/textures you want. That's rough for people who are stuck ordering online, but hey, if it's very important, I bet there are Specktrettes who would be happy to do a little extra personal swirl hunting and mail you the spoils. Last year I bought the ENTIRE collection of MES for a friend of mine out of state and believe me, I picked through everything for her.

In honor of these swatches, I wore Hint of Sapphire today, highlighted with Young Venus, and I felt like I had fairy tale eyes all day. It was very cute with Weekend Getaway on the lips and a little Sakura blush on the cheeks. 'Had to wear happy makeup, because I had a cracked tooth drilled the hell up for prep for my first crown. crybaby.gif

I am quite grateful we got swatches and I think the quaility is pretty good actually!  No, they may not be so applicable to WOC or very pale tones, but I agree that some swatches are better than none and HEY, she swatches all of it!  I like that there are swatches on skin versus on paper.

We are very happy with your swatches Yuki.  Thank you very much.  I am sure that your English is superior to almost everyone's Japanese here so we have no room to complain!

With these lovely swatches, my list only changed in that I want more MES and less face stuff.  As I worried, most of the MSF and MB are either too dark, too glittery or too golden/warm toned.  I can do warm tones on the eye, on the cheek, not so much, which is odd, as I am matched NC20???  ANd told I have yellow undertones, but orange or yellow cheek products go ommpa loompa on me uberfast.

My list WANT  Star Wonder MSF and Supernova MB

Galaxy rose csg and Fire Sign lipstick

Earthy, Aurora, Neonebula, Magentic Attraction (back on the list, the purple balances out the gold!), Water and Universal Appeal (which could be my fave, it looks like a lighter version of Twilight Falls!!!)

I love your blog Yuki because I can see every swatch of some collections before they release! You are quick and swatches are quite good ^^

But now I'm a bit confused and I don't know what to buy :P

For sure I want FIRE SIGN *___* and another lipstick... I have to see Cusp of dawn on lips! I also like Pleasureseeker and Cut a caper but I've bought a MUFE lipstick that could be like Pleasureseeker (rouge artist natural 38) and I have Flamingo!

Then I'm in love with cremesheen glasses *___* of course I need lip swatches but I may end up with two... Strictly plutonic and Galaxy rose I guess

Finally I like Light Year.. but also Star Wonder and Solar ray... I'll buy only one thing but it can't be too gritty... glitter don't look good on my skin :/

I really do appreciate the first look at the swatches. I've been to an event and tried to do swatches before with my iphone also, so I know what its like. The lighting in-store is also really hard to work with (overhead lighting, people everywhere, yellow tint to everything).

Mineralized products in particular are *really* hard to catch on film accurately even with the best camera. Its nearly impossible to get a good picture of an MSF swatch even in daylight at home....they never seem to really come out looking like it does looking at them in real life (for me anyway).

The more swatches, the better, in my opinion. I was just trying to say that we should give things a chance...wait to see more before deciding whether something is off the list or not. I hope I didn't hurt any feelings. :(

Hi Yuki,

Thank you so much for the swatches!

As usual with the mineralized collection I only ever care for the lipsticks.  From this one I like the look of Venus, Cut A Caper and Fire Sign.

Yuki so many of us appreciate & love your swatches! Thank you so much for them. I always find them accurate & very helpful. Keep up the great work!!! heart.gif

YUKI!!!! heart.gif I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say we appreciate your swatches very VERY much! You always have them done before almost anyone else, and they help us make early decisions! I'm sure those that can't get to a Mac store or counter are even more grateful. Thank you for always giving us MAC addicts a first look into collections that we wouldn't usually get without your help! flower.gif

I have three of the MSF´s from the Semi Precious collection and the swatches look very alike regarding the finish of this type of products regarding this years collection.

It not the product that is "gritty" it´s just the pictures that´s not accurate to "irl" :)

Yeah...thats basically what I meant... and really its kinda true of most swatches of mineralized products in general... its not necessarily that they really look like that, its just that they're super hard to get an accurate picture of...

I have the same problem trying to take pictures of mineralized things myself
