I have never bought so much from a collection, I also think I never got this excited over a collection.. I have such a weakness for mineralize products (as many of you do). I got all 4 msf's, all 4 m/b, CaC l/s, Earthly m/e! I bought them online, and I'm really happy with the swirls actually! I only wished that the gold vein in Solar Ray was smaller and that the brown/taupe vein in Earthly was bigger, but other than that the veining is great! I will post a picture of my swirlies soon smiles.gif I've been very busy so I haven't really used them yet but they look sooo pretty, almost too pretty to use haha. But it's now summer vacation, so I have a lot of time to play with my little planets yay!
I'm debating on whether I should buy Fire Sign/Pleasureseeker l/s.. even though I'm practically broke lol. How comparable is Fire Sign to VG Cyndi? Some bloggers say they're the same and others say that Cyndi is way more coral/warm and Fire Sign more berry.. I missed out on Cyndi so I really want something like it. And Pleasureseeker.. how pigmented/sheer is it and does it really has a silvery/frosty sheen?

Hi Corally, welcome to Specktra :)

I have Fire Sign and VG Cyndi and they're about the same on me, although Fire Sign IS a tad cooler. I have pretty pigmented lips so I can't tell much of a difference on. I thought they were going to be different just looking at them in the tubes but was pleasantly surprised when I swatched them on my (NW15) arm:

Photo on 13-07-2012 at 16.38.jpg

Cyndi on the left, Fire Sing on the right. Fire Sign looks a little darker in the swatch but it isn't IRL, I took it straight from the tube but used a lip brush with Cyndi (mine melted awhile ago so I can only use it with a brush :sob: ). They're both sheerer IRL also, I built them up to show the colours. Cyndi is one of my favourites so I'm soooooo happy I found a comparable lipstick! And I was almost going to skip FS! I can do lip swatches too if anyone wants, would be later tonight though as I'm just running out the door now!

You should definitely try it on! I wasn't going to buy it until I tried it on in the store.

Does anybody have Venus lipstick and Sweetie from the perm line that can give a comparison? I'm thinking that they look pretty similar. I own Sweetie so that's why I've passed on Venus. But it would be great to get an opinion on how similar or different the two are, to calm or rev up my skipper's remorse goat :-)

Thanks Carriee! And thanks for the swatches, they both look very berry on your arm though! I would love to see some lip swatches! smiles.gif

If someone else has some arm/lip swatches or maybe a small 'review' of Pleasureseeker, please post it smiles.gif I've seen a few swatches in this thread and online but I'm not sure what to think of it.. is it a (sheer?) peachy lipstick with silver shimmer/sheen or is it a more creamy (sheer?) peach? I don't have a MAC store/counter near me so... I would really appreciate it!

Ok so I have sweetie and swathed it over the weekend to compare I didn't take any pics so I did just now again so that you can see. I feel that sweetie has more of a purple finish to it and venus is more pink although they do look a bit similar.

Sorry about being late... I was traveling yesterday and it's so hard to post from my iphone...  but I wanted to say...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGER!!  Hope you had a super day!

happybirthday.gif

And also, I was rooting for Griffin too!  And I said the SAME thing when he walked out of the ring again!  Maybe he needs to do that to diffuse...  I am around MMA fighters all the time, and sometimes they can get into their own heads in an intense way before, during, and after they fight.  It's strange to see it up close.  On tv, it just looks like they're crazy!  HeeHee

MacAddictNurse: thank you soooo much for the swatch comparison! It was extremely helpful!

The skipper's remorse was setting in so after my errands today, I stopped by the nearest Nordstrom MAC and compared. Sweetie is definitely more purple/fuschia than Venus, and also lighter pigmentation. Lovelorn looks the closest, but is pinker. I grabbed the last Venus from my Nordstrom counter and got a very purple Stratus (I couldn't pass that up!) then I hopped over to my local MAC store and got the last Venus there, too. I also picked up Magnetic Attraction with very little yellow, a heavily purple and pink Star Wonder and their last Light Year (my personal fav from this collection). They had one Center of the Universe left and were sold out of Earthshine (which is bizarre imo lol - they still had 6-7 Star Wonders after I picked mine out).

The MAC artist at my full-sized store was a sweetheart and totally understood the need to select one's own swirls! I'm glad I got Venus + BU while I still had the chance. I can't wait to go home and try 'er out!!!

My final haul:
Venus x 2
Meteoric x 4
CotU x 2
Star Wonder x 3
Light Year x 3
Stratus
Supernova
Ring of Saturn
Magnetic Attraction
Earthshine

It could be worse considering the sheer size of this collection, but at the same time I'm glad I spread out my hauls for this collection, especially considering this was one I was going to skip out on! But I am so happy with my products and I know I'll get some good use out of them!

Your haul is to die for!! If I was you I'd just spend hours on end staring at all the pretty swirls - that's what I do with mine anyway girlhaha.gif

Light Year is my favourite MSF too! I'm so glad you managed to snag backups of all of your favourite things, tracking them down later on would be a major pain!

If you have Rich Core Extra Dimension e/s, try it in the crease with NN on the lid - I wore it today and it's super pretty!

Our Team Treasurer has advised us to spend ALL our money on SWIRLS...

Now we must call on Team Butcher, Team Baker, and Team Candlestick Maker to ensure our survival... Hopefully they can provide us food, shelter, and light...  In exchange we will allow them to look upon our Swirls!  Good Job Treasurer Gracie  yesmaster.gif  !  It's all so clear now!  Clear and Swirly!

I bet you totally passed on CotU then! It looks sooo orange to me as it is. But have you tried LY on your cheeks yet? Maybe it's not as bad as you fear because orange blush can look good.

Best of luck! I hope you can get your goodies because you'll love them!

Nope my skin is pretty pale all over. Yery much a bronze/peach on my face as well. lol need's more pink in a mine as the copper swirls are very strong in it. I just don't tan, I freckle and get a tiny tiny bit darker but still no where near as dark as NC15.

This is random but, I HATE it when people say anything along the lines of: "...But I don't have nearly as much makeup as you do" OR "I think you have WAAAY more than you need; you're never going to finish all of that." So what? I can't imagine spending what you do on the things you buy, but you don't see me judging you.  girl_devil.gifWhy must you make a point of how much I own? Ugh. And to be frank, I have a baby collection compared to most makeup addicts! When I say that though as an answer I get "Yea, but for being a makeup fiend, in 2 years thats a lot of stuff" -.- It's like fuck you. I know my limit, even though I'm only 19, I'm smart about my purchases.... 99% of the time! :p

I totally agree! I cringe when I look at how big my collection is, but I love every single thing and it makes me happy!

I used to spend all of my disposable income on clothes anyway haha

^ I know right?! I KNOW I'll never finish everything but who cares!? I spend a lot of money on make-up, nailpolish en beauty care in general, I know I do, but it's a hobby and it makes me happy!

Your hobby is getting drunk every night/week, now that's a real investment hm?

I concur completely! Clothes don't make me as happy as makeup... Maybe it's because people keep bugging me about my size -.- .... Idk. lol It's just not comparable to the shimmer, glitter, vivid colours, the sweeping of highlighter on your cheek bones, the way your lips look after lipstick! th_drool.gifOh I wish I wan't on campus so I could go stare at my swirls heart.gif After staring I can start my genetics readings for my exam on Monday... 100 pages worth D: I 'd rather stare at my swirls :p Is that sad?

Exactly! Couldn't agree more. Or I personally don't think I could spend $2000 on a Louis Vitton or Prada etc like other people do, but thats their choice so whatever floats their boat. I'm happy with my Winners/TJ MAX/Ross/F21 finds :D I wear a backpack most of the time anyways lol. This reminds me of a story... I was in Sephora not too long ago when these 2 East Indian ladies came in and looked SUPER SNOBBY. I smiled at them, cause I smile at everyone and they just stared at me, one was wearing a McQueen Scarf, Louboutins, True Religion etc, hair perfect the works. Now I thought she looked great! LOVED the outfit, what I didn't like was her snobiness towards the other workers and customers. Lady you may think you're the flyest shit up in here, but you're not so please get over yourself, we're all equal. I heard her saying things in Punjabi (I know, cause I'm east indian as well) and I was like :O She walked out empty handed as well... But why must people be so rude? Anyways, she spends her money on fine clothes, we spend ours on makeup :)

I've slowly begun to use my swirly goods because I literally did just stare at them for days! They're all so pretty! I'm glad I got BUs, too! I wanted 2 Venus once I swatched it in person and the counter only had one :( so I bought it anyway, and I'm so glad I got one at the MAC store, too. Those two places are literally the only counters I go to, the others are on highways I'm not too familiar with or parking is varied and I didn't feel like hopping all across town looking for a lipstick lol.

Ohhh yes, I am stocked up on my MSFs for sure! Usually I stop at one BU but something was nagging me to buy just one more of Star Wonder and Light Year! I had some will-power that was slowly chipping away lol and I finally cracked after reading all the glowing reviews of Venus and couldn't pass it up! Team Hypno-swirls is oodles more fun than Team Will-power LMAO!

I took some pictures of comparisons of Venus to some perm line lipsticks (except for Sweetie because MacAddictNurse is awesome and already took a pic!)

On the top is Venus, on the bottom is Lovelorn:

kN5QM.jpg

Lovelorn is definitely pinker, and you get that sort of berry-pink showing through on Venus which is what reminded me of Sweetie!

On the left is Venus, and on the right is Chatterbox:

bYG1U.jpg

Chatterbox is an amplified creme whereas Venus is a lustre. Their colors are definitely in the same family, but Chatterbox of course wins out in the pigmentation department. That little sliver on the left was me experimenting with Venus layered over Chatterbox, which didn't really add or subtract anything, so that's why I cropped out as much of it as I could!

My perty perty items and their swirls that I added to my collection today, minus one Venus lipstick because that baby's staying in the box til Venus #1 gets used or lost, or melts, or whatever may happen in its lipstick lifetime lol.

qJ5Q5.jpg?1

I tried to get a Stratus with as little of the brown as possible, but most of them did have a considerable amount. I feel that the one I chose has less swirls of colors so if I really wanted, I could get a smaller brush and dab at the purple on the edges. Most of the swirls did not have much variety (for either item, MSF, Blush or shadow), so it's literally like they were produced in the same section and then packaged up and sent to the locations, because most of them looked identical. I didn't get to pick out the Light Year since it was the last one in the store, but the Nordstrom I went to before the full MAC store was sold out of Light Year, so I can't complain that I was able to score another BU, plus I'm satisfied that this Light Year is light on the gold.

My Light Years & Star Wonders! The ones I picked up today are on the top. The other two Light Years were from mac.com, and the two Star Wonders were from my local Nordstrom for in-store pickup!

m13n9.jpg

My Magnetic Attraction!

I0QVa.jpg

The Nordstrom counter had a MA shadow that was more on the yellow side and swatched pretty pale-peachy pink. The full-sized store had a MA that was similar in swirls to the one I picked out, and it swatched this gorgeous berry pink color that was amazing! I didn't realize until I looked over the picture that mine has a little chip taken out of the edge :( but it's really miniscule so I guess it will have to do! Again, most of their MAs looked pretty similar. There was one with more vortex-looking swirls and I was curious about it, but I didn't want to BU an MES, because I don't feel that Iuse them enough to warrant a BU (same with MBs), even though it might have looked like a different color, there was no way for me to know unless I bought it, and I didn't want to feel buyer's remorse if I didn't end up loving it separately from the MA I knew I wanted for sure!

I wore Star Wonder today, and whilst it is really pretty, it is so pigmented that I have to do some major blending out even when I only tap my brush on it once for each cheek!

Light Year requires no effort and that's why I love it love.gif

That's what I love about it, too! It's like Lightscapade where it's hard to over-do! Star Wonder is awesome though, too! I love it to layer over blushes just to give more of a pinky glow!

I'm still trying to get caught up on this thread - I was out of town for a few days, and that's why I went back to the MAC counter today lol! I was in Eastern Oregon which is far, far away from MAC civilization! Had to get my fix :) but on that note: Happy Belated Birthday, Singer! I hope you had a great "Dirty 30" !!! rasta.gif

I agree - Star Wonder is very pigmented. I just used a tiny bit and still had to blend quite a lot. There's no way I'd want to have to put the work required into Earthshine.

I definitely agree with both of you, I joined this site because none of my friends understand and I was looking for friends to share my passion with. They are always making jokes and throwing little rocks at me because of love for makeup. I honestly don't care because I love my makeup and I buy it with my own money so next time anyone says anything to you tell them to stop being jealous and buy some makeup of their own it might make them a little nicer to look at lol

Haha thanks! I spend basically all of my time in a clinical environment, and wearing pretty makeup makes me feel better and more confident! Plus it is nice to do girly stuff to get ready in the morning - it makes getting up at 6am a lot more palatable when you have lovely MAC to look forward too :)
