You could of course attach the round steel stickers to the bottoms but then you cover the names and they will no longer stick to any MAC palettes.

I agree that the magnets on the back of the MAC eyeshadows are not as strong as the Inglot and Urban Decay pans, but when I flip my palette upside down, none of the MAC eyeshadows have fallen. I actually like that the magnets on the back of the MAC eyeshadows are not as strong because they're easier to remove from the palette and easier to re-organize. The Inglot and Urban Decay eyeshadows are soooo magnetic that you really have to be careful when you remove them from the palette or else you might nick/damage the eyeshadows.

I am kinda upset that the 15 insert is not included because the pro palette x$4 with the clear top came with the 4 insert and i could remove it if i want since its all magnetized and not glued.  I think the insert should have been included.  such as shame.

I will still get the palette though since i love how the pro pan x4 looks better than the old one. idk if i will get the insert only because i removed the inserts of my two old 15 pan palettes to fit more shadows lol so unless i buy 3 of these there is no point in buying inserts anytime soon since i have more than 30 pro pans/ depotted shadows.

ITA!

Not sure I am digging the inserts.  I am thinking of sticking with the old style 15 pan and 4 pan palettes for trips.  Z palettes for everything else.

You're welcome, I was wondering that myself. Are you going to stock up on old style palettes/buy some other brand?

I posted pictures earlier in this thread (or maybe in the early buzz). Just browse through the threads.

The bottom of the old ones wasn't magnetized either I think. I believe it has some kind of metal on the bottom and therefore the magnets on the shadows stick to the palette.

If anyone is concerned about whether magnets will or will not stick, have you seen the new Stick With It palettes?  No magnets required http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvQlbVj52nM

Yes it is just a sheet of metal glued in but at least it was there!

I always liked MAC palettes for their slimness and the fact their size fits them perfectly in my traincase, so I never ventured into other brands.  I'll probably purchase more of the old style when I can, but that might not be for another week and I hope they are still here.  I only have room in my traincase for 5 more palettes though, so that is helpful for setting a limit I guess.  I have 15 mac palettes already.  th_crazy2.gif

Hmmm. That makes me wonder if the quality of the SMH palettes are consistent. All of my MAC shadows fall out when it's turned upside down. And unfortunately I can't store them vertically because of that. You have no idea how many of my shadows have just decided to jump ship, even with the palette level, after me trying to vigorously load a brush.

When did you buy the SMH palettes? Did you pull out the insert? Do you have the MAC refill pans or do you depot your MAC eyeshadows and buy your own magnets?

I bought my SMH palettes like more than 2 years ago. I kept the insert intact. Also, I bought the thin round magnets that MAC uses for their refills pan on ebay/craft store and placed them on the back of my depotted MAC eyeshadows. I also have some MAC eyeshadows in the refill pans and none of them fall out when I turn my SMH palette upside down.

Also, I bought all 6 of my SMH palettes directly from the company's website around the same time and don't have any issues with them.

Wow! 15 palettes! Awesome. I too have always liked MAC palettes. I recently ordered my first Z palette for some makeup geek eyeshadows, I hope I like it was much as the MAC ones!

My younger sister uses the Z palettes. She likes that they come in animal print

I started collecting back in high school when all my income could go towards makeup, and then when I found the Clearance Bin here four years ago...I was doomed. I depot everything, even special packaging, and press my pigments which contributes to the insane ammount of palette.

I bought my 2 SMH palettes about 3 months ago directly from the company. Insert still intact and all. All of the MAC shadows in this particular palette are refills bought from MAC. That's why I said I question their consistency as far as quality goes. Our palettes seem do have different strength magnets.

Yikes! Sorry to hear that. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they lowered the quality of their products to cut cost and to gain more profit. Many people who bought MAC's brushes 20 years ago notice that the current MAC brushes are inferior, yet they keep increasing their prices.

Anyone else have a problem with SMH palettes? If you did, did you buy the palettes recently or around the time that the company started their business?

If its true they are getting rid of  the old style im so not happy about that seriously bummed crybaby.gif

MAC Pro posted on their site that the palettes (for the US) are delayed, and regrettably, they have no launch date at this time.

Oh no!  This thread is starting to sound like the Glamglass thread with all the delays.

After figuring out how expensive the new palettes would be, I decided to just stock up on the old style (for now). Sorry to everyone who's been waiting for the new launch, but hopefully this gives me a little more time to buy more of the current palette.

I saw these at a pro store today. They weren't out yet, but the MA that was helping me went in the back and brought out one to show me. Besides the price of the inserts, I really liked them. I literally just ordered my first 15 palette online Sunday because they were sold out in store, and now I don't know if I should return it and start with the new ones.

Since you have seen them in real life can you confirm which lid is see thru- the lid of the palette or the part covering the insert?

A double-sided Pro Palette that accommodates two inserts. See-through lid lets you view shade choices while keeping product secure and protected during transit and storage. High quality, glossy black plastic.

Piarpreet! Here are 2 posts I found with pics.  There was another one with a link to one of the Mac international sites that had a pic but I couldn't find it.  I think this is the same pic anyway.
