Me too. It's lighter and I prefer the black cover. I only have two palettes (neutrals and colours) so it's not hard for me to know which is which. I can see why someone with a lot of them might prefer clear lids. I have one back up 15 pan palette; I'll probably put it in my daughter's Christmas stash.

Verdict is that I love love love the new palettes. I love that i now have the choice for my MAC shadows to be freedom system style or with the inserts. I downsized the amount of space my palettes took up by not using the inserts. But I really like having the option to change my mind in the future. All of my MAC products purchased in pan form adhere well. No slipping or sliding around. The clear lids save me at least 5 min every day. I find that I have been using more of my collection, because I can see my options and they aren't hidden away. BTW for those who were wondering domed products (MSF/MES) do not fit in the single layer palette unless you've worn them down quite a bit. Not sure about if the the double layer palettes will fit though.

I think if the Z palettes made for mineralize products sell well, MAC might turn out something similar in the future. Not sure how soon in the future, but definitely hopeful. I eventually want to get a few of these new palettes.

My prediction is that MAC won't release anything like that, because they don't sell mineralized products in just the pan.  They aren't intending for us to depot, kwim?

Yeah that's true, that could be a big factor plus the fragile nature of mineralize products in general. If even makeup artists had mineralize palettes in their kits, I'm sure there would be a number of mineralized casualties by either depotting or while traveling.

I was using Chrome as well, and they weren't working then. They are now. Heh.

I like how you can see through them, but I wish they had a version with inserts and one without. (Must not have been cost-effective, I suppose.)

How are you guys seeing them on the website, or ordering them?  I don't see them either..

Thanks for posting the pictures - hope we find pictures of the double layer ones.

How many blushes do you guys think can fit in the palette without the insert?  I was had high hopes of fitting more than 6 blushes in a palette so hopefully we can do this without the insert or else with double layer.  I really prefer the inserts and don't like my things in a free palette though.

Excited about the cream wells!!

I think 8 would fit, because I have seen people put 8 blushes in the old palettes when they take the divider out.

I called my local pro store and did a charge send. I don't believe they are online yet.

For those who label their palettes, where do you plan on putting the labels (obviously not on the clear lid, as it would obstruct the view and defeat the whole purpose of having clear lids). PS: I won't run into this issue as I don't label my e/s and p/b - I know all of them by heart. But I'm curious how you solve this issue.

I think you could probably cut a clear transparency sheet down and put the stickers on there & just lay it inside of the palette.

I just memorize the names, but with my Rock & Republic shadows, I was able to warm up packaging and peel off the sticker to place under the pan. I haven't depotted any of my MAC items yet, I might try to do the same method, but I have a better memory of my MAC stash, so I'll probably skip Operation Labels.

Oh, I meant labeling that is visible :)

I thought my idea was pretty good.  rasta.gif

I'm trying to decide that now.

  • Option 1: use a silver Sharpie I have and write it above the pan on the insert (con: it's permanent which is bad if I decide to change the pans) or
  • Option 2: Put clear tape on the back of the palette in 3 long strips for 3 rows and write the palette names on the tape.

I did something similar to Option 2 with the old 15 palette except I wrote the names on the inside of the lid which is no longer an option.

Ist deine Schrift doch, jedenfalls mehr als meine. peace2.gif

I'm still unsure if I will be getting any of the new palettes. I read that the prices will be even higher than I previously thought, I could get a Tom Ford blush for that price, so I don't know... If fthose prices are really accurate, I might just buy quads. Since I don't depot and only buy neutrals, my e/s refill collection won't grow that much more, so I should be good with quads.

Have you tried pushing down at a corner of the insert? I think the quads work that way. The insert is rather big though, I'm not sure if it works the same way.

with the quads its easier to pull out because if i just remove one shadow from tilting it over i can just put my finger in the hole and lift it up.  with this insert it was harder.

i ended up twisting each side the opposite way and one side popped out so i was able to pull it out lol

I just realized that when you remove the insert for the quad that you cant use the palette like that because the magnet is in the insert itself and not the palette. they should have done it like these palettes and made the palette itself have the magnet and not the insert.

She says domed products can fit in there.  Cool!  I may have to pick up more of these palettes!

hmmm yes I think I want all of the new palettes, I really like the look of those and will sit well in my stash with my Z Palettes

But I have 2 eyeshadow and 2 blush palettes in the old style already... does anyone want those? They are all in good condition and can send photos. My 2nd blush and eyeshadow one is like brand new, not a mark or scratch on any of the 4

I just hope I can sell my old ones. I have 7 that are REALLY brand new :/
