Mac Pro Palettes discussion - Page 19

I was at MAC yesterday and completely forgot to ask about the palettes. I kept having that feeling I was forgetting something too.

I really want to see the double-layered one. I am not going to switch my palettes but I am interested in a double layer one for my neutrals. It would be really nice to have all of them in one place.

I was wondering if this palette magnetic without the inserts then I would buy it. No way I would pay extra for the inserts.

hi there, i checked your blog. whats the difference between the Pro Palette Large/Single  and  Pro Palette Large/Duo ?? i got 3 palettes like the one on your post already with the clear lids but now i wonder if the 24 pro shadow inserts are going to fit in it?    im soo confused!!

the things that you got from makeup forever FNO are soo cute!!

Now that the width of the new palettes are thicker, how are you ladies and gents planning to store them?  I am currently storing the older version palettes in a 14-DVD acrylic rack from the container store but I fear that it won't be so accommodating to the newer palettes.

Hey there ^_^
They didnt have the large/duo palette when i went to the store but she told me that it will have two layers so that it can hold twice as much as the large/single. But i dont think the top of these are clear if i remember correctly.
And thank you for visiting my blog smiles.gif

could there be a double layer eyeshadow insert?

I already have a mini well palette from mac where i put my depotted lipsticks so im good. But im still waiting for the large duo palette to come
post #555 of 1129

I had alot of trouble getting the inserts out of the pots both blush and eyeshadow. Originally I used a pointed knife as suggested by someone else, but I slipped a few times and dug a hole in a few pans not to mention my hands.

Well I found this cheap thin metal nail file in a nail kit my BF bought me and it fits down the back of the pan, where the hinge is and depots them easily without all the concentration and fuss.

Also as suggested by one other lady I use a bit of baking paper, put it on my hair straightner and use this to heat the bottom of my pots and to loosen the glue on the labels. The idea of using ovens and hot screwdrivers scare me as I'm clumsy and forgetful.

I always clean up the bottom of the pan with Acetone (I use it as cheap cheap nail poilish remover) it removes the glue quickly and completely. I tried a few things at first but highly reccomend this.

I think I''m going to pick one up for lipsticks that I already have that are broken/melted.

No you are not the only one... .I cant bring myself to do it either with my Japonesque palette I brought so I just use it to mix colours of foundations and concealers when I have too many for my palette

For MUA, it's a matter of space. Tubes take up a lot of space whereas fitting them into a palette is a very economical way to save space. Secondly, as MUA usually use a lip brush, a pressed lippie is much easier to use.

I've been using MAC's previous version of the lip palette for a long time. I love that they were disposable as the wells are usually harder to clean. But I guess at under 10 bucks a piece, I can chuck them in the bin from time to time and get new inserts of the new palettes anyways.

Speaking of de-tubing lipsticks, has anyone watched Dustin Hunter's you tube video where he shows you how he does it? I was so shocked at how much product is in the tube that you cannot see. Makes me feel better about the lippies I haven't backed up. Also, the song at the end is hilarious lol.

I can see why an MUA would depot lipsticks but I couldn't do it because then I wouldn't be able to take just one lipstick with me on a night out!

I was thinking of getting the wells and putting ready-to-go doses of pigments in them. I just don't have the time to joggle with the pigments in the morning. But if I had a 'pigment palette' sitting on my vanity I might actually use them!

You will probably end up with glitter all over the place. I refill small quantities into  stackable jars as I can close them. Or are you planning on pressing your piggies?

I was planning to put in such a small doses and not move the palette around so it might be possible. We'll see.

I think you'd be better off with something like this: http://www.makeupforever.com/products/tools/12-color-case.html#.UFnuflFcfWI

Maybe mixing in a couple of drops of mixing medium with each pigment to create a cream/paste might work? I don't know if they would dry out....

Thank you for the suggestions! I will report back if and when I do someting about this. But it might take a while before I can order.

OK I am confused blush-anim-cl.gif there are two types of palettes coming out right?

One with a clear lid and one with the double inserts - is that correct?

I chatted to a MAC live lady and she said the double ones are coming out on 4th Oct here in the UK - whoop to  that mac_haul.gif

I presume the clear lidded ones are Pro only?

Thanks

I have not seen the double insert palettes yet, but they sell the palettes with the clear lids at my regular free/standing (not Pro) store. The 12 and 24 well inserts are Pro only.
