I had to pick & choose when it came to shadow/blush inserts. I will probably hold off on getting additional if the duo ones will roll out in a few weeks.  I also opted for the pre-filled 6 shade lip palettes. I have no qualms about depotting lipsticks, but these have good color variance and will be fantastic with freelance as well as save me from pulling product from the tube.

So far my pro/con list on the new palettes:
pro:
-see through
-sturdy
-lid closure is secure, opening not tricky
-inserts are easy enough to put in, and remove (see con note on that)
-insert variety

con:
- I didn't catch anything mentioned through what I've read, and I think it's worth saying- unless I'm doing something incorrectly, which is always possible.  The new palettes are not magnetized, not even a strip in the lower compartment as the old palettes had.  They just settle in the insert. Someone may have this palette and have a better tip or general directions. For me to remove the insert, I either have pop it out with something sturdy & thin (spatula), or place my hand over the shadows and flip it for one to fall out. Then wedge under the lower holes to pop it up. Not that it's hard to do but it seems easy for product to be damaged that way.
-powders will kick up on the in between, clear part will show finger prints, fuzzballs/ critter hair is attracted to the clear lid.

Twist the palette a bit, kinda like it's an old skool ice tray. The insert will pop right out.

My only con is that it is hard to clean the powder dust. The glossy black plastic attracts far more powder dust that the old-style palettes. Just cleaning the top of the insert(s) each morning adds a few extra minutes to my routine.

My palettes are magnetized. Both the palette itself and the insert. Maybe they changed it now???

Mine too. I believe they were always magnetized.

I miss the old palettes. I was going to grab a couple for my blushes (I prefer them with the inserts in). However, I'm thinking when the double sided one comes out, it would be perfect for my blushes. So, is there any news if/when it will ever be released?

Nope it was a herpderp moment on my behalf. My depotted shadows don't have strong/thick enough magnets. The ones I bought in pan are a-ok. This is what happens when I get over eager about new things.

So between that and the ice trey trick to pop the insert my negatives are reduced down to only the fact the top and insert attract powder and fuzz.

Has anyone depoted MES for the new palettes?

I love these palettes and have 2 eyeshadow ones and 2 blush ones and then another empty one that I am going to use to press my Mac pigments into. I just need to get some more magnets. I am thinking of making a lipstick palette too with my non mac lipsticks.

I hope they release the NW10 concealer by itself

I hope its isn't long  for the double pro palettes to come out.   I have a ton of shadows and blushes looking for a home.

Pro Palettes are sold out at all the regular MAC stores I go to.  I want to order them on line,  but as I think about it more, I might as well wait for the doubles to see how they work.    Has anyone hear anything more about them yet?

I want the duo for my lipsticks for my kit!

@erine1881 me too! I also want to make a 24 well one for color correctors & concealers, then have it across a 12 well full of 6 nc foundations and 6 nw foundations. Hopefully they will stock it soon.

I don't have the colour correctors, but i depotted my studio finish concealers into a 15 shadow palette. I've got a 24 well with neutral lips and a 24 well with bold lips, so a double would be perfect for those!

Somehow I am surprised how large the wells are.I could not imagine this blush-anim-cl.gif

that picture made me cringe because I can imagine the powder from the e/s getting all grunged up in the cream products...001_unsure.gif

That's not a double palette though, just two sitting side by side.

MAC's choice of marketing plan for these is why we've been waiting so long and why theres little to no info available-they basically whispered something about & left the lack of info and the delay to create all the anticipation/speckulation.

Well one things for sure, the new mac pro palettes, or pro palettes 2.0, as I like to call them; have been selling out all over the place. They are so popular! So now I and waiting for the restocks or the doubles.

Stock seems to be very limited.

I now have 2 e/s palettes and 1 blush one. At the first counter I went to they only had 1 palette and 1 blush insert, so I bought both. I then had to go to a fs store to get another palette and e/s insert. And then a week later I went to another counter, where I once again got the last palette and e/s insert! So I've been lucky with my timing I guess!

I do love these new palettes - it makes it so much easier when I can see all the colours without opening them. But they are heavy!

I have 4 palettes. 3 have eyeshadow inserts and i have a blush insert but cant put it in the 4th palette because my neutrals are in there waiting for the double palette.

I actually now have more eyeshadows than the palettes can hold with the inserts so i have to remove another insert to make all of them fit. Grrr. Hurry up mac. I was going to order another single palette to be able to fit everything but its sold out online and they didnt have in the store. Ugh
post #838 of 1645

I have two blush palettes and one neutral palette, but I would love to have a double palette for my non-neutral shadows.

Has anyone heard about MAC releasing Paint Sticks for S/S 2013? I found a website called Beauty Launchpad that discusses Paint Sticks being released this S/S 2013.

http://m.beautylaunchpad.com/karie's blog
GO TO title-Straight From Backstage: Peter Som Spring 2013.

It also talks about a Mineralize lipstick called Luxe Naturale.

They are sold out everywhere. One of the MAs at pro told me that inventory took place recently and we will have to wait until that's all squared away for them to release anymore for sale.
All of my shadows and are in a plastic ziplock bags, face up, by how I want to arrange them when I finally get new palettes. They need a home ASAP
