Side of Nose/No MU THERE

I have been having issues with blending & I've been doing MU (albeit not completely 'correctly') my biggest issue right now is that when I do my make up it gets on the side of my nose. I cover it with Painterly, concealor, MSF Powder but it doesn't really cover it up. When I try & remove with MU remover it looks weird. Any tips? Any tutorials that u recommend for me to watch? I'm in need of some desperate help here. Thanks!

I want to help you, but am confused about what you mean by gets on the side of your nose? like in the crack on the sides of your nostrils? a good blending brush could help this.... like the #109 from MAC which gives me perfect application every time. Also, do you use a primer? Setting spray? Let me know and i will try my best to help you figure it out.

Hi macupsif, thanks for helping me with this issue. I probably did a very poor job explaining my issue. For the primer ?, I switch it up b/c I've yet to find my HG primer. I've tried UDPP- but I don't like it, I actually haven't found any UD things that I really like. I use Painterly often & I've gotten my hands on a few more PP that I use as a Primer. Also, sometimes I'll use a primer from Tarte. What I mean about the side of my nose is the area below where my eyebrows stop and the left and right side of the bridge of my nose. It's just the area by the eye, nothing crazy like by my my nostrils LOL! I have all the right brushes but I just can't figure out how to clean up my nose area without it looking strange. Does this make sense?

Thanks for trying to help me out. You'd think I'd never worn make up before or that I am a teenager but I've just renewed my interest in MU and I'm trying to up my game with my techniques and adding things to my repertoire like primers, my new love of highlighters and may try out /attempt a bronzer with the Hey Sailor release coming out. I'm a NC20 & I love my paleness & got a ton of flack for it growing up in FL, so I don't know if I am a bronzer girl. Anyhow, now that I have totally babbled on and on...Thanks for trying to help me out.

Are you a UF, FSU or UM supporter?

Have a great day.

Do you use an eye cream that may be causing the makeup to slip? I use the MAC skin base visage and it seems to work better than anything else I have tried thus far (Makeup forever HD and porefessional face primer from benefit.)

If its the area on the sides of the nose where you may put shadow, try something like the naked pigment just to fill in the area if you feel it's lacking MU.

I hope i'm understanding more and helped you out in some way. Oh, and just because you're pale doesn't mean you can't use a bronzer! Sometimes when i'm on the lighter side, I like to use it as a blush with a pretty highlighter.

A lot of people I know attend UF and FSU, so I am definitely a supporter of those schools.

Have a good one.

Hi Spanky. I think I understand what you mean. When you apply powder eyeshadow, does the dust get flicked against the side of your nose?

If that's the problem, here is what you can do. When applying makeup, do your eye makeup first, followed by foundation and concealer. Instead of sweeping the brush over the lid, pat the eyeshadow on. You want to press the shadow against the lid and lift the brush away cleanly. During blending, instead of sweeping from side to side, blend outwards away from the nose, using small circular motions. You can also hold a tissue over the area to catch any shadow fallout. If all else fails, you might want to use only cream based products.

I do hope that helps!
