That would have been lovely and quite appropriate to the collection.

right now the only thing i would get without seeing swatches is deeply adored. everything else sounds like it would be too pale for me.

After taking a peek at the color story my prelim list is

Deeply Adored l/s
Charmed I'm Sure l/s
Scarlet Ibis l/s (I missed out on all of the Apfel lipsticks)

It looks like this will be an easy and inexpensive haul:) but I can't complain because if all goes will and these reds complement my neutral leaning NC45 skin, three brand new mattes will be coming home with me

 

It's more like Sur from the MC collection.

I haven't made a list yet but I'm so excited that Scarlet Ibsis is being repromoted! I'm hoping I'll love it!

Sounds like there is going to be some great stuff! & all VP ESs. I'm in heaven!

I don't mind the repromotes in this collection. I have them all, so it's just money saved!

Pure Zen - Warm nude (Cremesheen) - I'd love to find an awesome nude, this warm aspect interest me, but it's a MAYBE.

Phiff! - Sheer yellow peach - I might get a BU (I only have a mini from G&I). I like this one with bright lippies.

Not too much damage, but I hope this doesn't come at the same time with other collections.

Here's Scarlet Ibis over Redd lipliner. I tried to take a picture of Sail La Vie and SI side by side, but my camera sucks and can't pic up the difference, but really they are different. Maybe if you're a darker skintone not so much. I was able to take a picture of SLV by itself in the same lightning. That picture is on the right.

I will take another picture of the two side by side on my lips. I do have to tell that SI is a touch more orange without Redd lipliner.

 

Edit: My camera couldn't pic up the difference so sorry, but i can't show the picture:( I only have a picture of SLV by itself to compare to SI.

I would wear SI with Redd to make it redder as well. I wear SLV with Throw Me a Line.

Ahh stupid camera can't show the difference:( And it gets blurry when i try to take a picture of my lips only. Aren't TMAL and Redd like the same colour?

Are they? Well, that's good to know. I have TMAL but was going to buy Redd. And my list shrinks again!

 

Can you see a meaningful difference between SLV and SI? I'm trying to avoid near dupes but am happy to get SI if it's redder.

You can always take your TMAL with you and swatch them side by side. I swatched them in store side by side and they looked the same to me.

Then I'm glad I have TMAL - I like the PLW formula. :)

And you can definitely see a difference between SI and SLV.

Haha sorry, i didn't mean to  But it's really a nice red if you like bright lippies. I feel like the orange in it makes it brighter than most reds, but at the same time more wearable if that's possible. Maybe orange reds suit me better and that's why it's more wearable?

Those do look different. But they both look fabulous on you. I am wondering tho if SI is similar to Lady Danger? I have Lady Danger already lol.

Thanks I believe Lady Danger is a bit more orange and that's why i prefer SI, but i don't think you really need both.

 

Pink Cult is definitely more rosey. IMO, it's worth having both. Do you have Sur? Maybe then you don't need TPC.

 

 

Yes, I like the P liner as it is very easy to use. However, I find that it dries up rather fast, especially as I don't use it everyday. I usually buy one when I need one for work for a few weeks, and then I toss it.

Now that I realize that that Redd is very similar to TMAL, I decided to test SLV with Red Enriched liner as a base. It may not be a complete dupe, but I think I'm looking at a shade that bears a strong resemblance to SI. How much red/orange can be varied depending on how much RE I use.

 

I'm trying very hard to be self-disciplined and not buy shades (particularly in shorter life products) that are very close to each other. I already have 15 lippies on the go (with two more in transit); I really need to focus on limiting myself to colours that are materially different than what I have (or can get to by varying the liner or adding a touch of l/g) or else I'll end up getting more than I can really use and enjoy. When a collection (not necessarily makeup) gets beyond what I can see/rotate/use frequently, I don't seem to enjoy it as much. I resorted and organized my makeup drawer over the weekend and took mental stock; I think I'm almost there.

 

The challenge is to not get carried away with all these new collections and to just buy the few items that I love and that fill in gaps rather than everything I like!
