Looks nice on you! I swatched some of the YSL mattes yesterday, too. I liked the 201 most because it is orange red. They cost 37 euros though!

Love Goddess is such a bitch to photograph!! It was fuchsia while I wore it at work, this morning it's dark cool toned red with slight pink undertones, and yesterday night it was a red pink with warm undertones. WTF?

 

Anyway, here is a pic of it on my lips, natural lighting with a bit of sunshine so slightly warmer. I hate doing lip swatches when the colour change like that. And my review is on the blog, link is in my signature.

Thank you! Yes they are expensive. I was very lucky to get 40% off and that made it only €18.30 almost the same as mac (€18)! How could I resist that?!

Oh don't get me wrong, I love it!! But it's really a pita to photograph, it must be why everyone's swatches are differents!

Which liner was meant to be paired with Love Goddess?

I played around this morning with my goodies.  Legendary is very pretty on (NW20), but I do think that I have something similar in my stash.  I really like it though and will be wearing it a lot.  The bp again all over my face gives me a glowy effect.  Amazing!  I am going to get a bu if I can.  I used showgirl & prefered blonde in an eye look.  I would not give them a D or F rating.  Are they spectacular - no.  Are they dupable - yes.  But I like the look that I got with them.  Plus there is MM on the pot, so I am keeping them.  Finally I am wearing charmed i'm sure today.  Way too bright on me full strength.  I had to blot this down to let me wear it outside the house.  My favorite is still LG though.

I think my eyes are f*cked up or something... I just swatched them on my hands this morning and LG was lighter and more warm toned. Beet was a good match for my Deeply Adored lipstick. WTF is wrong with me? I used a dark fuchsia lip liner with LG (not for the pic but when I wore it yesterday)!

 

Or my Beet lipliner from that collection is different than the one in the permanent line?

The texture on DA is so matte, it changes the basic look, since the light reflection is waaaay down, but skin tone and all that comes into play too. DA would have had to been created lighter than RR to look the same on the lips, just due to how incredibly matte it is. 

 

Sorry it didn't work out on you, mousy. I bet there are some Specktrettes who would take yours off your hands!!

Sometimes a liner doesn't look like the best match when swatched, but it can still work perfectly. I used Beet with YSL Rose Crazy and Beet was also deeper than the lipstick, but somehow they work perfectly well together. Beet actually doesn´t change the colour even though it´s darker.

Haha I don't think anything is wrong with your eyes! In T's swatches all 3 lip liners looked very similar....the perm one and Marilyn edition should be exactly the same though...I need to buy Beet, they used it on me yesterday when I went to pick up my presale items and I wanted to buy it but it was sold out but now I wonder if the perm one wasn't sold out and they just didn't think of it?

That LG color is just so multifaceted, it changes all through the day, even just how you turn your head. Different lip pencils are really going to alter its effect too, in a big way. It went from looking totally pink on me in indoor fluorescent light to pure red at night in low light, and every combo in between! It's actually so all over the place, I've been having a hard time thinking up which clothes it's going to go best with in my closet. I'm trying to figure out which outfits will bring out the red the most and right now I'm thinking maybe browns and purples, but I'll have to wait till next thursday to pick up my goodies and really experiment.

Ah thanks for clarifying. I love bright and strong lip colours but I tend to lean more towards pinks than reds. I have runway red, racer red and viva glam 1 so I think I will give da and cis a miss. Love goddess on the other hand is what I am really excited about! I am also going to check out scarlet ibis and compare it to lady danger. I will end up getting whichever one leans more red than orange. I am curious to to check out pure zen. I find it very tricky to pull off neutral & light shades because I have very pigmented lips so I will have to try it on in store

 

I think it depends what you are looking for as the final result, I know Beet changed the color of LG on me, it was darker and more cool toned. I prefer the fuchsia tones of LG so maybe I should stay with my fuchsia lipliner!

 

 

The packaging isn't even that special, it's just shiny black! There's nothing else, even the box is black.

 

 

That lipstick is driving me crazy!! You are so right when you say it change color even when you turn your head.

I'm also NW20 and I've been thinking about getting Legendary. I think I will now! I don't own too many different blushes so there's plenty of room for one with Marilyn on it.

I love Vampy Varnish! Esp. Her lip swatches. Karlasugar has awesome swatches, but she doesn't really do MAC swatches as much as she used to. I still look at Ts and Alluras swatches and reviews. But don't rely on them completely. Things always look different on me than on Christine, but think it's just cause our coloring is so different. I like to look at sparkages swatches too. For our darker skinned beauties, Karens makeupandbeautyblog is an awesome one.

But imo here at Specktra is the best place to get swatches and reviews. And it's wonderful cause you get them from different skintones and walks of life. Not to mention people to really connect with and of course share our obsession with makeup.

Omg LG is so beautiful! I hope I can manage to get my hands on it! Only Concern is, I already have enough fuchsias, I was hoping it would pull more red with pink. And it feels like a lot of times colors are bolder and/or brighter on me compared to most people. And I think that would pull out the fuchsia more.

Hey, there are some photos of me where you can't tell I have a nose because of the flash. But I like being pale. I grew up in the suntan-worshipping seventies and when I was very young, I loved turning a nice shade of golden brown, but then I hit puberty and embraced the pale. I guess I'm still kind of in puberty...

 

 

YIKES! I really wish you could publish comments with links to legitimate sites where you could buy a brand new, authentic one, for regular retail price...

 

 

WIN!!! The Great Enabler and I are so addicted to this show. We were watching it again for the umpteenth time last night. Half our in-jokes with friends come from AD. Counting down until we get the new episodes and the movie next year...

 

 

I always consider this the hallmark of a great lipstick. It should be hypnotic to look at, like something that has depth and nuance and never gets old. 

 

 

 

My guess is that Venomous Villains was the fastest, but that was before the great crackdown on inventory levels they did, so they were able to keep things in stock a little longer than they are now. 

So of course now that the boat has left I decided I want Love Goddess, PB and showgirl eyeshadows.  I think I will be able to get the eyeshadows but LG??? I can't believe I don't have a color like this in my stash.

 

 I am going to try for Nordstrom.com.  They ship fast to me and it is free shipping.

 

BTW...I called the Valley Fair Mac store and the SA told me they sold out of almost everything at their store event Tuesday but he said they were expecting another shipment.  I am going to call the store Thursday morning to check if I miss Nordstrom but I hate to go there when they open.  Will their be a line?

Sorta feels like I won the lottery cos' I got a few things from the collection before it sold out ... it shouldn't be like this. Kinda makes me feel degraded like I have become obsessed with the items due to the scarcity - supply and demand etc. I even feel guilty! Surely MAC will restock... it's madness.

Does anybody know if the pro discount applies when phone ordering in the UK? I have done live chats and I have heard a yes and a no. I doubt it, but since the discount does apply in the US...?

aradhana... you flatterer!    But TBH, I only post a lippie pic when I love it!  So I don't capture the ones I've tried that didn't work!  LOL!!  TRUST ME, there have been lots of lipsticks that I still am trying to figure out!  (Yung Rapunxel comes to mind!) 

 

And Pinkdollface... you are making me search darn YSL lippies!  That's pretty much the only lipstick brand I have avoided so far!  (Have some of their glosses and they are wonderful!!)  You and your darn pretty lips!    BTW... I'm LOVING Beet liner too and was just asking myself the same thing today!  HeeHee
