The price increase for these is just because of the Marilyn licensing fee I'm assuming plus the special packaging otherwise it is the $14.50 and might go up to $15 due to the yearly or so price increase. Although I'm curious to see how the pencils will look.

I'm curious about the pencils too. I usually like how they do they packaging for the big summer collections as these are always colorful (and easy to find in my stash). I hope MAC pulls off a nice packaging for the MM pencils.

I came across this on her swap page, she's just showing off the pictures, nothing for swap yet:

"Not swapping this yet, just to share the packaging with the ladies and sharing my faves are:

Forever Marilyn Beauty Powder
Legendary blush
Deeply Adored & Love Godess Lipsticks
Showgirl & Preferred Blond eye shadows :)

Looks real from what I can tell. It even has the sample stickers. I assume she got it from a MAC training...

Nevermind! The post I dug up was from July 8, and today she posted for swap.

Yessss for this! I know for sure I am getting one of the lipsticks because I adore the bullet case!

The eyeshadows definitely look bigger than usual in those MUA pictures! Or is it just me? o.o

I'm very curious about the eyeshadows! But the rest is prob a skip for me (and I already have Scarlet Ibis).

But Pure Zen does look nice, so maybe also that one.. Here we go again.

Tx Pinkdollface! I'm not much for nudes/naturals anymore, but Pure Zen is pure perfection in my eyes. I'm still unsure if I want to buy it with the Marilyn collection or just wait and get it in time since it's going to be permanent. Augh! Decisions!!!hmm.gif

Hmm. I was ok w/ this packaging (not in love with it), but after seeing the Carine Roitfeld pics, I'm starting to not like it at all. The packaging just doesn't seem as elegant as it has the potential of being.

Well said -- I was really hoping for elegant too. Upside I won't buy as much.

Carine's packaging is classy and sexy, Marilyn's is cheap and tacky looking. nonono.gif

I don't see it as being cheap & tacky. Of course, I'm not a very big decision maker of packaging either so I may not really know compared to more seasoned packaging buyers. I do like the Marilyn packaging. I like the Carine one as well. I'll end up spending money either way. If it were regular packaing I'd still buy. As long as the product is good and/or unique enough I'll spend on it.whistle.gif

True. I would have preferred a picture along the line of my new avatar though. Much more glamorous and so Marilyn. Or perhaps more like... (is checking some Marilyn avatars here). Sorry, forgot whose avatar this is...

I'm going to buy it regardless of the packaging, the product is what is important in the end. But it just seems cheap and tacky(for lack of a better phrase) lol comparing the two. They could have done better IMO.

I expected something else too. I think many of us did...

I think it's Haven's avatar. For some reason I think of fluffy pillows, warm bed, fireplace going and it's snowing outside whenever I see that pic.

I also had this pic as an avatar for awhile. Now I have a new one. Yes. I do agree. I wouldn't have minded some of her more known pics used for the packaging, but according to paparazzboy these were never seen before/rare pictures. I find them to be typical beautiful Marilyn. As I have mentioned previously. I'm not a big packaging person so I probably don't know what I'm talking about. I don't know cheap looking from regular or amazing looking. Sorry fellow Specktrettes.

Love your choice in avatars :)

I don't think that it's a matter of knowing anything about packaging. Just personal taste, perhaps with some experience of specktra members in the mix when it comes down to the stickers. Dunno. I don't think the packaging is really bad, I just had diffirent expectations. Perhaps the more stereotypical Marilyn vibe I guess.. That being said, when I see the collection / posts on Specktra, I might just go nuts again...

iagree.gif           I am still going to buy things from this collection because i Know I want certain things and I just can't seem to help myself but this packaging looking like stickers is going to help me not spend as much. I could find a marilyn monroe image myself I liked and stick it on there. hell, my 9 yr old could do that.   The lipsticks dont seem to bad packaging wise but I think thats because the background is dark so it not so in your face STICKER. blink.gif

It does! The Carine Roitfeld packaging looks so much better!

I like the photoshoot but yeah the packaging looks bleh. It looks like they used the same technique as they did for VV.
I'm not really a packaging person, it's more about the product for me. But I do like how you can always pick out a certain colors by the packaging amongst the sea of MACs black packaging in your stash.
