I've had several lippies arrive from MAC that don't have that lovely vanilla smell, although I couldn't tell you off the top of my head which ones they were. The Party Parrot I got even had an unpleasant 'off' smell, but they were unable to replace it as they had sold out. Luckily I was able to purchase one from a lovely Specktra member.
I just remember that my Viva La Glam V does not smell "wonderful" like all of my other lipsticks either.

Ok. Call me crazy, but I have unopened CIS and DA sitting in my drawer. I just can't decide if I should give them a try, or keep them unused for swapping/selling. I don't wear reds usually, and haven't had good luck with reds that I've tried in the past. OTOH, I've worn LG twice, and got compliments each time :) So, back to the untested reds - do you guys think they would work on me, I'm NW20, brunette, brown eyes. My skintone is very pink. Should I give them a try? I did try DA at the MAC store, but couldn't make up my mind. Some red-ish lipsticks I love are VG Cyndi, Fire Sign and Laugh a Lot.

give 'em a try! more than one.. red it's not easy to use for me too, but try them blotted on your lips and they'll be immediately more "wearable".. When I bought party parrot I didn't use it because it was winter and I felt like it was too bright for the season.. the I started to use it blotted and now it's one of the lipsticks I love the most!

I'm also a NW20 brunette with brown eyes and pink undertones, and I really like Deeply Adored, I don't have CIS but it looks absolutely gorgeous and I would definitely keep it if I had it. I was thinking about selling/swapping my unopened LG but the way I look at it is it's highly unlikely that MAC will ever do another Marilyn Monroe collection, and they seemed to do a pretty perfect job making these lipsticks great for all skintones, but especially the pale beauties with skintones similar to Marilyn's, so I would personally regret swapping my lippies away but really it's a personal matter about what you think is going to make you the most happy/what you're going to get the most use out of :) I would keep them though, they're very pretty classic colors.

Way to convince a girl! I guess I should dig in after all :) I suppose there would be plenty of addicts willing to swap for a 1-2x tested one as well...

I'm really in love with the e/s. Preferred Blonde as a wash of color over Genuine Treasure. Carbonized from MAC Me Over in the outer V and lover lashline. How to Marry on the tearduct and on the outer lower lash to further open the eyes. It looks very natural. Simply divine. Love it, especially as Preferred Blonde and Carbonized actually melt to a nice taupe-y shade with the most incredible sheen ever!
Oh I so need to try this look! Carbonized is one of my favorites. I've completely used one and hit serious pan on my second one....like I'm o the rim already! I'm bummed about not finding more. It's pretty incredible. So, for this look I have Preferred Blonde, Genuine Treasure & Carbonized, but I don't have How To Marry. Do you think Crystal Avalanche is a suitable sub for the tear duct & outer lower lashline?

Actually, I think they'll work a lot better on you than the warmer toned among us. I can't wear CIS - it's way too pink for me. Even DA is pinky on me, but I can get away with that one. If you like Fire Sign, I think you'll like CIS. The pink undertone is stronger and has a very different finish, but it will probably look great on you. It's a gorgeous shade and I love the finish - I wish it worked for me.
I'm going to swap CIS away if I can - maybe with someone who finds SI too orange for them. I could pull that shade off no problem.

Yes, I am very happy to hear that. I was able to get TPC too. I am supposed to get it next Tuesday. I am so very excited.

I agree! I am so in love with my CIS that I do not want to use it. I know it makes no sense but I really want to get a BU before breaking it out haha.

I prefer pairing LG with process magenta liner to bring out the pink in it. On my skin that is much prettier than pairing it with beet, which makes it redder. Both liners give a totally different effect. Question: whose LG smells weird? Mine smells different from all other MAC lipsticks? Not like it has gone bad per se, but just...
?
I combined them, too. I also used PM with Moxie (even though it's too cool for it), because all the other liners I have seemed too red/pink/orange. Is there a good liner for Moxie?
hey Medgal, what brush do you use for the bp?

I use any one of the following, in no particular order other than I like to use/give all of my brushes some love: 128, 129, 134, 150, 182, 179 & 188. I also use a Laura Mercier fan brush. If I feel as though I've been using one or the other too often, I switch up. I do prefer a larger brush to give a light dusting to pull the entire look together w/o giving me an artificial look.

At some point, I'm planning to stock up on Holiday and short handled brushes at a CCO. I want them for travel so I won't have to worry about something happening to my full size brushes. There's a few more full size brushes I'd like to get first. You know, it would've been nice if a brush came out with the Marilyn collection to use with the Beauty Powder.
I have the 128 and 234, but I haven't used them yet. I didn't get them when they initially launched last year. I picked them up July of this year. I remember Mac Guy saying something useful about them, so I tracked them down and saw that Nordstrom still had them in stock (they still do!). But I can't remember what was said about them to make me get them in the first place. I think it had something to do with the Heavenly Creature collection.
The 128 is pretty versatile, and works well for me for both wet and dry products. The 234 has become my go to blending brush, perhaps because it's not as wide as the 224, and gives me a tad more control when blending. My skills are evolving and I need all the help I can get.

Do you apply the Beauty Powder before your makeup or after?

Awwww. I've had three yorkies all at different times over the years. I love the breed. I had my last one for 16 years and I still haven't gotten over losing her. She was sweet and not yippy-yappy like some small breeds tend to be. My husband said he'd get me another one but I don't want another one. I want her.

If I'm using it as a highlighter I put it on after my foundation, and on top of my P & P light boost that I've applied under my eyes in a large triangle. I actually use the light boost pen to draw the triangle, fill it in with the light boost product and then blend it really well with the 130 SH. I then put the beauty powder on with my 116. If I'm using it as an overall face powder, I put it on after everything...including MSF, contour cream & powder and blush, this time with a larger face brush.

Sorry guys you probably sick of me posting about my package now.. I won't bother you anymore.. I finally got it.
I'm in love with Charmed I'm sure and Scarlet Ibis.. so glad I got them in the end(!)
They tried to deliver my package to the wrong address for 4 times and today would have been the last attempt. All 4 times they left a card at the wrong address and nobody have come forward
I had to ring them to sort it out and the driver had to ring me as well.. urgh.. I'm glad I'm off today and otherwise I don't know if I would have gotten my package...
