Thanks for all of the responses! It's a lot more clear to me now. So basically, when the heavens and seas part and time ceases to exist, all while hearing an angelic choir in the background, I'll know I've found that HG red. I just tried on all the reds I have. None of that happened, so I guess I need to keep looking.

Exactly, it's all about the chemistry, baby.

For me, knowing Ruffian red was my HG red was just the way it brightened my face without being too in-your-face.And although the lips are obviously bright, this particular red seemed to balance my eyes and the color in my face. There is just a certain blend of warm/cool tones in it without being too dark or too pink, plus the texture, not too shiny, not too matte. For whatever reason it just all around works. And I have other reds that I wear (and like), but it really was an ahhh haaa moment with Ruffian red.

Ruffian Red and Ruffian Gold are gorgeous!! I got them today and was playing around with them. I love Ruffian Red!! It glides on like a Amplified Creme! It is so creamy that I'm actually thinking about getting a BU of it. As for Ruffian Gold, it is pretty for layering. Will have to try it with my other red lipsticks as well as my hot pink lippies.

 

 

This is definitely *your* nude - - it is perfect on you. And they eye look you wore with it is gorgeous too - this is the way RN was meant to be worn. I wish it looked this good on me, but it pulls much more concealer like on my particular complexion/lip color, etc, I think you are a touch paler than me. - and your dark hair gives a certain overall effect to the look too.

I wish it looked than pink-ish on me, but I'll need a lipliner to make it look that good.

It's too bad that this collection is not at counters/store, it's funny how nudes and reds look so different person-to-person (and really need to be tried on to ensure that they work).

Love Ruffian gold alone, so easy and pretty. I took it to my counter today to show the girls, they ooohed and ahhhed over it.

Here's my side by side swatch with YPA & RN. My lighting is bad.. hope this helps. YPA has a little more pink in it imo.

Augh.... i want 3N!

It seems to get a bit a bit pinker when you rub it into your lips...when first applied it is closer to a concealer color, but it pinkens up a bit when its rubbed in...

also, if you have kissable lipcolors...my friend nikki put Flaunting It over it today and it looked really awesome, turned it just a bit more mauvey.

You know, I'm not really getting a gritty feeling from RG at all. I actually find it pretty smooth. Maybe mine has mostly small shimmers and not much larger pieces.

So far my only HG of HG products has been whirls & twirls from glitter & ice. I eventually snagged a back up on ebay after trying to buy 4 back ups through Macy's. Heart breaking. Oh, also, Tarte face primer is HG. I use it to mix with foundation so it gives me a little more time to work.

i love the look of the red and gold layered.... soooo stunning!! can't wait for these to come to the uk!

wow i LOVE the look of Rgold over i love winter cremesheen ls. It is really beautiful! it reminds me of a laura mercier lipstick palette i got when i got my makeup done for my senior prom and that was what the MA used and the one item we purchased. i used to wear this same combo, a mauve-y lipstick with gold over it, ALL the time in hs to recreate the gorgeous lip the MA did for my prom. i have always wanted to do it again but gold lipglosses never did the trick! now i have it -- YAY! 

 

i think ti will look similarly beautiful over bare again & impressive sheen supreme lipsticks! and OMG - super and woo me kissable lipcolours!

 

for a totally different look, i tried it under caqui lipglass and i loved that too -- i dont think im going to buy Rred after all. i have 1 red lippie, eden rouge, and have worn it once or twice. 

here's what i described in my post above: ruffian gold over i love winter ls. im a big fan of this combo! fyi, the only other makeup i have on is bare study paint pot all over my lids and crease and UD baked e/l on eyes, and laura mercier mascara. i thought that would go with the shimmery gold look.

Just got ER at my CCO. I was glad to see I got it at a small discount because it's being repromoted this year. Wondering if I should get a BU with all these reds being released this year (yeah Marilyn!). It's my first mattene & it's awesome!!!

I wasn't so sure about Ruffian Red, because it's hard to tell with the lighting in my house. I was crestfallen, honestly, but I just tried on during the day & I think I like it! Anyone using a LL with it? Which one?

I don't know if I have HG red yet, but I love my Ruby Woo & Kanga Rouge.

I have 2 Runaway Reds & I tried it on once & didn't like it so much. So if anyone's interested PM me.

That's exactly the analogy I was thinking of, except if u haven't met 'the one' than u don't understand the concept. & I know down the line my HGs will change, but hopefully the HG status of my hubby will never change!

I think most men are pretty attracted to a red lip no matter if it's blue, green, black based, they are kind of clueless about that kind of stuff. They just see a red lip coming there way & the hormones kick in. Plus, I think most red lippie hos like myself carry themselves in a confident manner.

In a way it's good the subtle nuiances of color differences because than my DH doesn't think 'she bought another damn red lipstick'. Any time I wear a crazy, loud red my hubby says 'Ruby Woo?', I don't have the heart to say 'no'. Ruffian Red is the first he's noticed the difference in lately.

Pugs are so adorable! They are so cute with their snorty noses & curly tails! Have fun Furmom!

A pug puppy litter is being showcased on an Animal Planet show called 'Too Cute' & they are freaking adorable!

Ain't nothing wrong with kitty love girl. I got a cat when I was living on my own & working stupid long hours. I never had a cat, but thought that would be the perfect pet for me because of their independence. It was truly life changing to have a pet that was my own. It's different when they rely on ur parents to take care of them because the bond with u as the primary caretaker is such so strong. He's my first true love & I don't know if I'd be here today because he helped me through life altering, horrendous times in my life.

My hubby was not a cat person & my hubs fell for him when were dating. I can remember the moment it happened. Hubs was lying on the couch & when I came out of the bathroom kitty was lying on him purring...true love ever since! good thing too because I couldn't have someone in my life that didn't love my baby.

I hope one day we'll be able to add another, compatible fuzzy to the family.

& when the time is right I hope u get a great companion as well!

Ohh! VG2 is pretty! Ur arm is darker than my face. Is this a kind of bolder nude??? I can't find a suitable nude for me, because I've been wearing BOLD LS since middle school. I got Razzledazzler & I hate it on me! Too light for my paleness.

Now after seeing Bee's swatches I'm going to have to try on Lady Danger. Damn u enablers!

Great combo, thanks for posting. This looks sp pretty on you. I've yet to try on my RG, but I have I Love Winter & I love it.

RN looks beautiful on u Lisa, but than again it has a great canvas to work with! I'm glad u like it, I know u were anxious about it!

I agree with creaminess factor of RR. I really liked the consistency of it! Glad u like the RR & weren't u hesitant about red lippies a few months ago???

i'm loving layering ruffian gold with other lippies...today i'm wearing it mixed up with peace mirror shine by 17...i find using a lipbrush too finicky for me on a daily basis, so i've just been applying the gold first, adding a lipstick and smooshing it about.
