I always have to type ruffian red to get to the lipsticks. I read somewhere that it was available until July 16th I think, something like that. I think thats why it isnt sold out yet.

For me, a HG lipstick can be worn in most situations, from mundane to special occasions. I felt I put my best face forward when I use R1. I can imagine myself wearing it decades from now. HGs usually have a background story attached, like the first time worn and how it makes you beautiful and confident.
You cannot place a price on a HG. If you buy it at WalMart, you feel that it's worth much more. If you got it at Saks, it is a small price to pay for a treasure.
Hope this helps you.
It does, thanks. That's also a really good point about a HG item being both timeless and priceless.

I would definitely recommend Lady Danger over Ruffian Red if you're looking for a summer red. Ruffian Red is one of the reds I'd wear for date night. lol

I was going to order a back up of Ruffian Red sight unseen. I am glad I waited until my order came in. I am not sure I like it.
Red lipsticks were what got me hooked on MAC many years ago and I have purchased just about every single red they come out with. I have a small set that I rotate through on a daily basis (Russian Red, Lady Bug, MAC Red, Lady Danger, VG I, etc). I love them all.
Ruffian Red pulls pink on me. I am disappointed.
Someone above posted about knowing when you have a HG product. I agree with all of the wonderful responses posted. You just know. My HG lipsticks make me feel sexy no matter where I wear them or what I wear them with. They are Lady Danger and Rocker. And I rock the heck out of both of them.

Maybe I'll just get Lady Danger then and consider my red lipstick quota filled for the moment. that means I can try it on at the counter too! Thanks :)
I still want Ruffian Gold though.

Not to enable you, but Ruffian Red isn't remotely like Lady Danger and I would wear either/both during the summer. It might be ridiculously hot here, but I wore Ruffian Red to work twice this week. I dabbed it on and blotted (twice), and it definitely wasn't too much, particularly since I kept the rest of my makeup light and neutral. I agree that Ruffian Red will look fabulous in the winter and for evening, but I think it's a bright enough red to wear during the summer as well (unlike my other red, VG1). It just depends what you wear it with and how heavily.
They're both gorgeous. ![]()

It's hard to find online; I can't even pull it up by searching for Ruffian Red (at least on the Canadian site). If they make it hard enough to buy, it might actually last until the end of the promotion.

Thanks for clarifying! :) I wasn't sure that they were dupes or anything, I already have quite a lot of wintery red lipsticks though so I was sort of thinking I'd only buy this one if it was a specifically summery orangey red that I am looking for, but if Lady Danger works better then I'd rather get that one because it's permanent... I'll probably get that one soon and Ruffian when it's available in the UK in a couple of months anyway. I really can't resist a good red

I tried Ruffian Red with Cherry lip liner for my going-out look
Cherry l/l definitely made RR more blue-based. I think next time I wear it I will try it with Redd, or maybe I'll buy Brick one of these days. I used a little bit of Vanilla pigment in the center and topped with a clear lip gloss.
I'm shocked too that the Ruffian lipsticks haven't sold out!

Gorgeous duckrodeo!!!! Love Ruffian Red on you. I need to wear mine soon. I don't think it will look half as good on me as it does you though.

Thank you! I'm so glad I got BUs. For this look it was definitely more layered, but it's gorgeous blotted down, too for an every day look!
Thank you :) Please post a pic! I'm sure it will look fabulous on you! It's looked gorgeous on everyone so far. It's definitely a chameleon red, and I love the vibrancy of it!
Thank you, Genn :)

I must get a Cherry lip liner.
Probably with the Marilyn Monroe collection if I can wait very long.

Aww thanks peachsuns!
I think Redd may also work with Ruffian Red. I will have to test it out. Cherry makes Ruffian lean a little more blue-based, so I suppose it is good for tweaking the color if you're wanting to make it lean that way. I just looove the color straight out of the tube, though, so I think Redd might be a better match.
Thank you, Pinkdollface! I can't wait to see you rocking RR!
What is everyone else using as a lip liner for Ruffian Red? I would love to read and see more suggestions. Rock them lips!

Thanks, MACina! :) I really do love RR. It's the best red I've come across! I Love all my other reds, including Red Racer, but I just love how bright Ruffian Red is!
Not to enable you but....dooo it!! LOL Well, in all seriousness though, if you already have a HG red, you can proooobably sit Ruffian Red out! But it really is a gorgeous red.
Ohhh those two look lovely together! I Thought that was a Tarte stain at first lol. I have 5 of the Tarte ones I got in a holiday set from Sephora and I've only used them once or twice. I should experiment with Ruffian Gold! I've only seen the Revlon stains at a Walgreens near me and the selection was pretty picked over. The rest of them left were opened :( oh well. I should use my Tarte ones first! Are the Revlon ones permanent, do you know?
^duckrodeo - I don't know if they are perm. Its the first one for me. Its kinda tacky feeling at first but the color is so beautiful & it really really stays. I have the Clinique ones too, but they don't last very long. I want to get a couple more of these Revlon stain colors - like RED
Oh, I also got my Ruffian Red ls BU today too.
Spanky, I love how you said that!

Thanks Cartoon Chic...I'm serious about Lisa, she's got beautiful porcelain skin, like Pinkdollface! Seeing all these pictures with everyone showing their new Ruffian goods is so fun. It's amazing to see all these people with beautiful, clear skin! & I love the way the RR (as well as other LS) looks on all these skin tones like seeing MU on Nudibelle, Bee, Maneater, Aradhana, Richelle, Pixiedancer, Lilygreen & GlamQueen, etc. I know I left off some others but that's all I could recall initially.
We all have a gorgeous canvas to work with, but some people don't use the paint properly!
Hope ur having a great day!

I wish I could rock the RN, but I have a fear of nudes.
Hope ur having a great day.
Aww thanks hun
You're too sweet!

Thank you!! And Lady Danger is actually popular among customers in the 10's and 20's foundation shade ranges (at my counter), so I think you'll love it! If the natural pigmentation of your lips shows any pink or red (mine are red) undertones to them, then it will look the same on you as it does on me... probably a tad brighter since fairer skin tones bring out red in the lipstick. The lighter you are, the better Lady Danger looks... not saying darker gals can't wear them (because I'm NW43 and I can rock Lady Danger alone) but I would recommend this color to gals in the 10's and 20's ranges before doing so for 30's and 40's. SO YES !!! Definitely go and check it out. And I agree with you, I like an orange-ish color but it has to have tons of red in it. I'm not a fan of full on orange lip colors.
Thanks Bee! I've got this urge to run out now & try LD, thanks for the advice. Us Southern ladies need to stick together! I love the way orange & nudes looks on others, but when I try them they never work.
Do u have any recs for a bold nude, I think what I'm trying to say is what do recommend for people looking for nudes that are 5 shades darker than me???
