MAC style seeker - Page 47

MAP being sold out gives me renewed faith in the duos!  Normally they stick around FOREVER!  Maybe this will be a clue to MAC that if they make a great duo people WILL buy it!  So, stop putting one great shade and one dud in the duos MAC and we will show it the love like MAP!

I got MAP and REALLY need to give it a try!

The issue with the last duos was that they did not have names. Giving the products fancy, silly, or sexy names is part of the MAC branding. It doesn't come as a surprise then when a product named "Duo 1" will not sell well. Who wants a generic name if you can have a fancy one as Marche aux Puces?! Big marketing fail!

Another issue was (and still is) that fashion trends are moving away from eye make ups with too many colors. In the past year or two, we have seen increasingly a very different application of e/s, i.e. only one or two colors, often taken up to the brow bone.* It seems that it takes people much longer to adopt this trend. And with this new fashion, the duos came along. I'm not saying that multi-color e/s make up can't be beautiful, but it has become an old hat. The new trends are much more subtle, but still very intricate and detailed in their application. Contouring the eyes with neutrals is really an art. I love it!

* Alternatively, we have also seen quads were the colors are very similar rather than contrasting.

Who would've thought that my laziness in slapping on only two colors and running out the door is a fashion trend. I'm fashion forward and didn't even know it!

Consider yourself at the forefront of make up. thmbup.gif

OT, but... I remember when chipped nail became trendy in the early 2000s. It was this kind of "otherness" that really stood out in a good way, moving away from the perfectly French-manicured nails, but embracing the fact that nail polish will eventually chip. There were nail salons in London where you could get a chipped manicure. w00t.gif

Anyway, I love that trends are changing. If I became stuck in the applying the same colors, products, and textures as I did five, ten, or fifteen years ago, I should probably stop caring about make up. What I love most about make up is that it is so dynamic!

Same here, CartoonChic. I actually tend to use 3 colors, but more than that makes my head spin. I could maybe do more on a night out, but during the work week fuggedaboutit.

Not having seen the duo irl, the combos serving me well! I wore it with dark diversion on top lash line, rich ground on bottom, supercontinental on apples, hidden treasure to ' contour' and legendary mattene. I was going to wear fashion nomad, but on my skintone it's a no-go with hidden treasure! Makes my skin look yellow green. No nice.
Otherwise a lovely colour, so I'll wear it without red tones!

Thes colors seem to do well. They are safe colors and popular with browner girls. I have colors like this from way back.

If anyone is still wondering about Avenus and Local Wares Fluidline being dupes they really are close to each other.

Can you guess which ones which?

Agreed... Hence the uber popularity of those UD Naked Palettes!  I do admit Naked1 is my most used day-to-day go-to palette!!

Also stated here is why I LOVE my Loreal Infallibles!  They are GREAT for that one-and-done look you are describing Mac-Guy!

Ok, my goodies arrived today! I am LOVING SC blush!  It's soo beautiful and soft and perfect.  I'm considering getting a backup when i go check out the eyshadows.  Any ladies debating on that blush... GET IT!  I'm NC15 for reference.

I guess I'm kinda thinking of the promo pic for office hours when I say ths, but I think with neutrals, esp matte ish ones, wearing the colour up to the brow becomes much more wearable for the common man...that's what I'm wearing today to the office, which I wouldn't do with a sparklefest bright...

i need the new blushes!!!!!

Wearing SC with Crew as a highlight today and it's so pretty eyelove.gif

I'm glad I bought MAP before it sold out.

Ok. Ok. Ok.

You've twisted my arm.

I am going to get it now. (I'm NC 20/25).

Is it dupable? Do you have anything that compares? I am/was (?!) debating between Laura Mercier Lush Nectarine and MAC SC.

The problem is: I've become infatuated with MAC SC though I have yet to see it in person!

I'm usually immune to new MAC collections. What is it with this one that gets to me?

I don't think I can go back to applying e/s right up to the brow - I spent the 80s doing that.

My personal rule is that if I rocked it the first time (leather minis, straight leg jeans, glitter explosions) then I leave it to my daughter the second time around. Read: I will not be that 45 year-old wearing a pink fuzzy tracksuit with "Sexy" blazoned across my ass. puke.gif

Maybe a new trend then? Bringing color an inch past the eyebrows? winks.gif

Finalizing my list, again it's alot bigger than i want it to be lol shockt.gif

I'm getting:

Camden Chic mattene

Ready To Roam l/g

Restless l/g

Marché Aux Puces e/s duo

Supercontinental blush

Hidden Treasure blush

Local Wares f/l

I'm also interested in Eden Rouge (but i already have Red Racer + Ruffian Red on the way), and Fashion Nomad (but i already own Booyah).

Better leave my list as it is, since i'm also really excited for the Marilyn collection love.gif

I have fleet fast blush, T said that fleet fast is a close dupe to Supercontinental blush.

Do you think its worth getting supercontinental.. and could someone do a comparison swatch?

I'd be really grateful :D

I bought Supercontinental and will be receiving it tomorrow, I'll swatch and compare other blushes with it and post pics here! I feel that Supercontinental is pinker and less red than Fleet Fast, and FF has shimmer/glitter, so I felt compelled to buy Supercontinental, even though I own Fleet Fast.

I don't mind a wash of colour either, particularly if it's sheer and shimmery.

I truly believe that some people must not own a mirror. We were in line at Disneyworld and saw the woman I just described right in front of us. In a very visible thong. Very tasteful. thud.gif

Did anyone notice whether or not Restless was available on the Nordies site? i was going to order a BU there (yay, ebates), but don't see it listed. Not sure if it was never online or if it's sold out.

I did that too - at least in the corners. There's winging and there's winging. girlhaha.gif

Nars Deep throat to the left, SC in the middle, and Immortal flower to the right.

Immortal flower is a bit darker and pinker. The texture couldnt be any different.  I think thats what makes this blush special.  It applys more evenly compared to the others. It's just a beauty to transfer and blend the product. I'm gonna back this one up!  pompom.gif
