Same here ... I bring a couple palettes with me when I travel.

Here are swatches of the American Dream palette. It looks even nicer than I imagined. :) I agree with the swatcher, it is a versatile palette allowing neutral and more dramatic looks.

I ordered the American Dream palette from Saks.  The colors are perfect for my everyday look.

I was also considering the New Wave palette.  I rarely wear those colors, however, so I couldn't justify the purchase right now.  If I end up being able to swatch New Wave in person, however, I may change my mind about it.

The neutral one is gorgeous! I think I'm gonna order iteyelove.gif.
The New Wave is nice too, except for the blue and the yellow/green colors, I really don't like those two. But the 4 others are really pretty... I don't know if it is reasonable to buy this one too for 4 shades onlyth_wallbash.gif?

I have the chartreuse shade (part of the Rated R duo), and it's nice an intensely pigmented color. I think you can layer it over the blue for a greener shade. But maybe you don't like green-tinged blue either. :P The swatcher for the New Wave palette made sure she got the most intensity out of the palette, by using a thicker layer of primer than usual, and by using the colors wet. I think it would not be as intense with just a primer and a dry brush.

I don'tgirlhaha.gif that's why I don't know if I'm gonna buy this palette. The mauve and the lavender ones are gorgeous though! And the black one seems to be pretty pigmented too!

Btw, those two palettes are up at hqhair.com , they also have a promo going on that if you buy two NARS products, you get a mini gloss pencil for free.

I am right there with you!  I don't think that I will use the New Wave palette enough to justify purchase, but I don't want to have skipper's remorse. th_wallbash.gif

I got the neutral palette yesterday.  It is gorgeous!

Keep in mind, they're permanent colours, so you'll have the opportunity to buy them separately if you want, rather than in one fell swoop. These palettes are great if you want a deal on a bunch of colours at once, but it's always good to compare to the option of buying them on their own.

I'd love to pick up American Dream - I wonder if it will come to the Bay in Canada.

They are?! That's great - I'll make a trip this week if I can get away from the office for a few minutes during lunch. Thanks!

I got the New Wave palette from Nordstrom's on the 1st of August. I've already used it twice.  I'm a sucker for bright colors.

I went to the Bay yesterday to check these out. The neutral palette is very glittery - I think three of the shades had chunky glitter. That made it a non-starter for me. I like the bold palette, but I'm not sure I'd wear the colours so I decided to pass.

The description of the palette is shimmery ... I don't find them chunky or glittery.  a glittery pigment to me is sugarland :-)

I saw the American Dream palette at Sephora. I think it's beautiful but I have most of those colors already.

It seemed glittery to me - you know when the shadow sheds glitter and it spreads beyond the shadow itself onto the surrounding area? Yeah, that. I did love the gold shade (middle top row, if I remember correctly). That one was shimmery but had no loose glitter. I may get that one on its own, but I'm not sure what it's called.

I'm in my 40s so I don't do glitter anymore; I near drowned in it during the 80s but it's no longer a good look for me.

New Wave palette looks amazing! Will have to get it before it is gone!

The color you're referencing I think is Galapagos. It was my 1st NARS shadow ever. The glitter does not get out of control. That said I'm passing on the American Dream palette. I need another neutral palette like I need another something else I don't really need. lol

:-) I think that one was Alhambra (top row, middle), which I have and find beautiful too. It's a duo, and both shades in the duo are pretty neutrals.

Also, I expect that some of these NARS shadows work best using a patting motion with the brush, versus sweeping which can cause the pigment and shimmer to deposit where you don't want it to.

I don't even know why I came in this thread! Now I have to get the American Dream palette.

Sorry for the late reply!  Yes I have been using it and love it.  I am a sucker for neutrals though.  I also caved and bought the brighter palette.  Haven't used that one yet though.

I don't think it's at all Sephoras. I'm in NY & I saw it at one location but didn't see it in another.

What are the shades in New Wave? All regular shadows I guess. I hate that .

Ok thanks! I'll just order it online, I'm in Tx lol we don't get anything special this way. hahaha
