All Day Foundation

No matter what I do my foundation is always gone by dinner time...maybe even sooner! I have tried many primers and setting powders. Currently I am using Laura Geller Spackle, Revlon Color Stay, and Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder.

I have tried other foundations and love, love, love MUFE HD, but at $40 I save this for nights out with hubby or special events (I used my first bottle everyday and it only lasted a month). I am not sure if my skin is just so dry, it sucks everything up, or my horrible habit of resting my face in my hands is to blame.

Any suggestions for a less expensive foundation that will last? I know LG Spackle is not the greatest either, but want to use it up before moving on. I have also tried Smashbox, and my makeup is still gone by dinner. Primer recommendations?

Also, I am not opposed to a more expensive foundation as long as it lasts me longer than a month! Any feeling on Laura Mercier foundations? The tubes seem like they have a lot in them. Setting Powders?

TIA!

What primers have you tried? I find Mac's prolongwear foundation has pretty good lasting time on me, as does Clarins' long-lasting formula, but if even long-wearing foundations are giving up on you, you might be better off finding a really good primer, which would allow you to get longer wear from any foundation.

What's your skincare routine? Your skincare may have something to do with it, too.

Thank you both for replying!

I have never tried Mac foundations, but have just heard the sound of air in the pump on a bottle of photofinish foundation and would love to try something new. I take that back, years ago I used to use the Mac cream foundation that came in a compact. I would fly through those babies so quickly! I will definitely look into a longwear foundation on my next trip.

Skincare: I use renova and Dermologica Age Smart at night. The Renova is very drying! I am not at all happy with the Bare Minerals tinted moisurizer with SPF...it was new in the spring and again, feel I need to use it up before moving on...also feel like I hear air in that, so should be close! I love Philosophy Miracle Worker, and will probably o back to that, but even when I was using that my foundation was not lasting the day.

I am looking forward to looking into the Mac Prolongwear...

Any thoughts on a good primer?

If the Renova is too drying, and you have dry skin (?), you need to find something more hydrating.

Primer-wise, I like the Laura Mercier oil-free one. They also have a hydrating foundation primer, which may suit you better.

I love Laura Mercier products, so I will look into it! Thanks for the recommendation!

I wish I could stop the Renova, but it is for Rosacia...I am due to the dermatologist soon, so I will ask about alternatives for sure!

Have you tried Estee Lauder's Double Wear? This is currently my HG. I have oily skin and live in a humid area, this lasts all day on me and does not transfer even in my afternoon naps(on a bed, with a white pillow). I recommend you try this, they might give you a sample if you ask nicely smiles.gif

Thanks for another suggestion to look in to! I will stop by EL counter and ask for a sample because I also have my eye on that new Purple Underground Palette!
