If I wind up breaking down and getting lipsticks, Glamourdaze is the other one I've got my eye on! It probably won't have as brownish a cast as OoaK or Offshoot, which makes it tempting. If it's like a little clearer Flaunting It with good coverage, yeah...might buy.
I really am starting to enter the Too Many Lipsticks Zone after all the bounty of 2012, so it's on my mind. Not to mention, I can see myself going hog wild with those Mineralize lipsticks next year......
This year I've bought almost 20 new lipsticks O____O I don't have mm "too many" (around 33...) but I can't keep on buying that much, it's crazy XD Mac has come up with too many beautiful shades this year!

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet but you can see a sneak peek at the Dramatic Encounter lipstick on here: http://www.elleuk.com/beauty/beauty-notes-daily/my-week-in-brights-day-5
Looks like Prince Noir to me!
looks great on her not so sure how it would be on me, but I see it's worth a try. thanks for this!

I agree with this. Dramantic Encounter looks much brighter and redder than PR. AND I WANT IT!

Most of the lipsticks in this collection seem close to others from the not-too-distant past, except with the finishes switched around:
Beauty - pale cool pink (G) = Double Spin
Innocence - soft coral (F) = Ever Hip, Reel Sexy, Cut A Caper
Glamourdaze - midtone creamy plum (CS) = Offshoot, One of a Kind
Outrageously Fun - midtone magenta violet (CS) = Petals & Peacocks
Dramatic Encounter - deep purple (A) = Musky Amethyst
I'm feeling like it won't be too hard to just skip these, since I've got all the others. I'll admit, I'm tempted by Innocence, since it's a frost and I don't have a coral frost (and love those light corals). It just feels like a "Greatest Hits" collection for the lipsticks and glosses.
I AM excited for the f/ls and some new EDES, and of course, Kohl Powers! Watch me get all re-enthusiastic once I see everything in person....but I AM going to TRY to resist more lippies!
MA is more on the warmer red side thans DE. MA has a bit of brown in it. I think DE will be different in alot of ways.
Fall trend is hot and i love every minute of it. This is the time I can stock up on all my favorite lip colors, cause they will get the boot as soon as the trend is over, lol
I hope we see more of these lips on the awards show. The nude lips are really safe and just blah!

So I've asked this before, but I don't think I got any answers and I'm really curious, so I just have to ask again: Can anyone please explain to me why people love the EDES? What makes them so special? I didn't pick any up the last time they were around, so I have no idea what the hype is all about...but if they're really that amazing, I feel like i should probably pick up one or two of them from the holiday collection?
Since some type of gel to powder technology is used for them, they work as colored eyeshadow bases. They are smooth to apply and blend and are pretty long wearing. Bringing them back is like MAC's holiday present to us! I can't wait!!!

For me it was mostly about the shades available but after I used them (I have four) I really loved the texture and sheen.
I have three on my list from GD the lilac, the blue and the purple (although MAC Canada still has the purple from the original release and it is a lot more product for the price, so we'll have to see.)

I picked up 4 or 5 colors when they were released. I loved them because they are super duper pigmented, they are not "chalky" ANNNNNND they feel like a cream but dry like a powder. The formula is very impressive and the wear time is great. I look forward to picking up more!

Wow, thank you for all of your input, everybody!! Definitely sounds like an interesting formula. So it seems like no cream base (such as paints or paint pots) would be needed for these, since they're bases themselves. How does the texture compare to that of paint pots? I'm guessing it's just creamier/more gel like?
I think I'll pick two of the EDES colors from this collection to try them out

I had Grand Galaxy but I just didn't like it on me - it was too cool. It looks much better on my daughter so I gave it to her.
I'd rather have the larger shadows as well, particularly since they aren't as dense as regular shadows. The originals weren't as much larger than the normal MAC shadows as the packaging would have you believe (on a weight basis); the new ones really will have very little product. I like the EDES but don't think they're worth the price for the small amount of product. Too bad - I was interested in the nude and the taupe but I can find other dupes.
I still want some of the holiday sets though.

I use Nightmoth under all my deep red, plum and magenta lipsticks! It's a long time favorite. It used to be one of those makeup "rules" that if you couldn't get an exactly match between your pencil and your lipstick, to always go for a darker shade of pencil. That's still a pretty good rule, since that deep color underneath will bring out the richness in the lipstick's color and help with that illusion of fullness - just use it over the whole lip, rather than just lining and blending the edges, if the colors are pretty different.

Fall trend is hot and i love every minute of it. This is the time I can stock up on all my favorite lip colors, cause they will get the boot as soon as the trend is over, lol

I'm glad that I'm not alone! When I first saw Nightmoth.. I was "aww hell naw... that's too dark for me".. lol. But after seeing all these swatches and after these suggestions.. I'm definitely going to have to buy Nightmoth AND Rebel!!! I'm in LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! You Specktrettes ROCK!

I'm still trying to catch up on this thread, but I THINK I've come up with a pre-lim list.
Lipsticks:
Glamourdaze - midtone creamy plum (CS)
Outrageously Fun - midtone magenta violet (CS)
Dramatic Encounter - deep purple (A)
Lipglass:
Talk Softly To Me - light creamy coral pink
Flight of Fancy - rich purple
Extra Dimension Eyeshadow: *this list will eventually shorten as I see more swatches*
A Natural Flirt - soft peachy nude
Ready to Party - pale lilac
Stylish Merry - midtone dusty violet
Evening Grey - steel silver
Stolen Moment - dark taupe
Fluidlines: I will end up with ONLY ONE of these. Just need to test them out.
Catch My Eye - cool taupe grey with dazzle pearl
Little Black Bow - charcoal with dazzle pearl
Feminine Edge - pink mauve with dazzle pearl
Kohl Power Eye Pencil:
Raven - intense black with red pearl
Mystery - intense black with green pearl
Powder Blush:
Going to try and resist these, since I've purchased WAY too many this year...but I'm sure I'll come home with at least one (if it's unique enough).
Now, back to reading the thread...
EDITED TO ADD - Just noticed that this was my 1000th post....wowza!

Yes....Double Spin came into my mind too when I saw the swatch of Beauty!
It would be great if DE would be like Musky Amethyst because I love MA!!!

Most of the lipsticks in this collection seem close to others from the not-too-distant past, except with the finishes switched around:

I'm feeling like it won't be too hard to just skip these, since I've got all the others. I'll admit, I'm tempted by Innocence, since it's a frost and I don't have a coral frost (and love those light corals). It just feels like a "Greatest Hits" collection for the lipsticks and glosses.

I love love love the EDES. I went slightly nuts on them during the first collection and not only bought most of the but have backups of about half of those. I tend to have trouble with eyeshadows lasting on me but these stick around, over a paint pot. To me they're worth the cost.
I still use them as a powder eyeshadow, to me they really don't have the texture of a cream. They're very dense and slightly damp (I found that out when I broke my Modern Pewter this past week, grrr) but aren't truly wet like a cream.
One thing about this coming collection that bothers me, despite the reduced size of the pots, is that the colors (at least from the pics in that link posted a few pages back) seem like dupes of the EDES from the last collection. I really hope they are new colors, not rebadged ones from before!

I was sort of thinking the same, but didn't want to be a Debbie Downer. I don't think we had a Taupe though, not a true taupe. Okay, maybe a little obsessed here always looking for the HG taupe, not too brown, not too grey, not too dark, not too pale, not too shiney...

I LOVE GG! It's my 2nd fav from the original ED Collection. 2nd to Modern Pewter.

So I've asked this before, but I don't think I got any answers and I'm really curious, so I just have to ask again: Can anyone please explain to me why people love the EDES? What makes them so special? I see you've gotten several responses to your question already. But I'll add a little... I did not find them to be creamy but a smooth buttery texture. Someone said almost a damp feel and that seems right on to me too. For me, I fell in love with this formula for it's "Extra Dimension"al qualities. You can literally do a one shade on the lid sweep and look like you've spent tons of time blending and layering different shades to get the effect they produce. They are VERY mulit-dimensional. They grab light and cast different "looks" depending on the angle you look at it. I'm having a very hard time discribing them! I actually only started out with a couple shades thinking they couldn't be THAT much different from the TONS of eyeshadows I already owned. But, I ended up going back several more times and ended up with 3/4 of the collection! HTH

To me, they are not creamy like a paint pot. Just a little more "damp" than a normal powder shadow. I described my take on their texture above. I still use a base under them. But I find a base useful under most of my powder shadows regardless.

Good lordie I am a sucker for anything "TAUPE" as well... if the word "TAUPE" is in the description, I'll buy it! Although it is difficult to find a true taupe for me it seems. Maybe I'll get lucky this time and find THEE perfect Holy Grail TAUPEEEEE!! Fingers are crossed!
