MAC Holiday 2012 Glamour Daze / Fabulousness / Guilty Passions Collection Discussion - Page 195

Long story short I accidentally ended up purchasing double orders of this collection. Nordstrom charged me after cancelling my order and still sent my items out! Never going through them again! The items if anyone's in need of: Superb EDSF, Pink Fade, flight of fancy lipglass, Feminine Edge FL, beauty, glamourdaze and innocence lipstick.

I am over in WA and we have delays with our releases according to the girls on counter. Part 1 is not due out over here until end of November

Just 1 of our counters is doing the launch / event out of the 4

I've been stalking my local counter (DJs on the Gold Coast) and asking about the collection, but all they tell me is the release date and then go back to ignoring customers!

WTF! Are they coming on camel across the Nallabour? WA isn't that far from the East Coast.

I'm not sure if it's already been up and I'm late to the party but I just noticed Guilty Passions is up on the reg MAC site

I know... feeling a bit ripped now that I am hearing how far behind we are!

I also have been told we might be getting part 2 first and then part 1 in stores.... argh who knows, I could be getting fed a heap of crap too

I got my sets this morning but it's always such a drag with the discount coupons. They say everything from 'no you can't use these', 'no you can't use these together' and on and on. And they don't know how to put them into their system. But I don't give up because I'm right! I even squeezed a free mini mascara out of them at the end! smash.gif

I got the Devine Desires in pink. Can't wait to try them on! I have not tried the lippie on yet but I don't think it is a dupe for WMS. WMS is more on the bright/neonish side.

I also got

- the purple mini gloss set. I already have a BGC, but it's unopened! (Like another dazzleglass from that collection). Wonder which one I should open first?

- the green pigment kit (already have Moss Garden - or two?)

- the mineralize brush kit. I like the bag!

I took it with a grain of salt, as MAC Aust dates are all over the place and are quite frankly a little disorganized. (Luckily I had already purchased my lot from the US with a parcel forwarding service). We basically get charged double the price and have half the products available.

MAC devotees will find a way around any obstacle (including not being able to ship internationally by using parcel forwarding services etc) so MAC should take note of this and reasonably price internationally in accordance with US prices (I don't mind a little increase because of freight/overheads etc but to charge double is outrageous).

Retailers and companies over here in Australia have been complaining in the past couple of years that the rise in online shopping from the US is running them out of business ... this is the nature of a competitive market ... they need to be innovative and adapt to changing consumer patterns, if that means lowering their considerably inflated prices, then so be it.

End rant. Ha!

I'm curious: How much do you actually pay for customs when you import from the US?

Nothing for Imported goods with a value at or below Aust. $1000.. the retailers here are furious about that and have been lobbying the Government to lower the threshold

I'm jealous.  I don't order from the US due to damn customs being so low for imported stuff.  I'd be paying so much in fees it's not worth it.

Oh wow. Good for you. This certainly makes it more attractive as the customs (for other countries) are usually quite high.

Yup. In the UK and other European countries, once you add the customs, it's about the same price as if you purchase it directly in your home country (plus the hassle with shipping, waiting, and going to the customs office).

Good. It seems that MAC returned to Pro releases on Tue and regular releases on Thu again. Happy hauling.

Is it just me or does SV seem quite pigmented?  I've only swatched it but I get the feeling I'm going to have to be very careful with it so that it doesn't look too much on my pale skin.

Yep customs tax can be a real downer ... but it won't be long before the Government here will crumble to the demands of the big retailers .. I will make good use of the glory days while they last! tong.gif (in reality, any excuse to buy MAC will do!)

Does anyone know when the All For Glamour Touch Up Kit in Medium will be available on the MAC site? It still says 'Coming Soon' ...

I don't think it will happen. A study was commissioned by the government a few years ago (I think it was under the previous govt) which found that it would cost the govt more to collect duty on shipments under $1000, than they would recover. So ultimately it would cost the govt even more. And don't forget that some of the retailers complaining, like Harvey Norman, have set up websites where the products come in from overseas, so they can charge less.

I got my stuff this morning! I'm at work so I've only had a sneaky peek, but it all looks great so far!

I was a bit worried about Orpheus and Mystery, but they both swatch wonderfully - really nice and creamy and pigmented.

Dramatic Encounter is lovely, but I really shouldn't have ordered it because I'm sure I have a bunch of similar shades... The same goes for Stolen Moment, but at least I know I will get the wear out of that because I wear taupe eyeshadow all the time!

I haven't been able to look at the hanging travel bag yet, or swatch the Lavish Rose lipglosses.

We can order tax free up to 43,47 Euros (that's the limit where the tax stays under 10 Euros), but in reality all letters (bubbly ones included) come through with no problems. I have ordered hundreds of times from outside of EU, and only three times I have paid taxes. One time it was a dress, and twice the reason was theBalm's policy! They insist on sending an express package (box) which is caught up by the customs. (I was not happy about this!)

HoF has the various sets up but not the individual Glamour Daze stuff rants.gif I am so sick of waiting to order
