MAC Après Chic Collection Discussion (December 2012) - Page 94

It evens out my skin without looking like I'm wearing powder. It doesn't crease up if I apply it under the eyes, either. The Careblend bronzer from a couple years ago was amazing too - I really hope MAC does something about bringing those back and just generally keeping Careblend's profile high. Discontinuing the MCLPs has gotten me all worried about Careblend now.

I'm not much of a concealer person, but I am very happy with the Mineralize one. It's the only one moist enough to not crease or bunch up under my eyes and it does a good job of concealing everything I need (although I don't mind a few freckles, I do have a couple of age spots near my eyes I like to erase). The other good thing about it is it has caffeine in it, so it depuffs me. Combining it with P&P Vibrancy Eye gives serious depuff-o-rama.

I do think Amber Glow is a particularly great blush for the no makeup look for me - wearing it, I really don't need to bother with a full face of powder. Just a little of it takes my face to the next level. I've never backed up a blush in my life, but I'm actually considering it for AG and maybe Alpine Bronze. If you took away all my other blushes and left me AG, I'd be ok with it.

I'll have to try Careblend then.  I was just thinking of what I need to take with me to the hospital for a no-makeup look.  Gotta try the Mineralize Concealer as well as the P&P Vibrancy Eye.  Will have to purchase these once I've gotten everything I want from Archie's Girls.

It's my favorite foundation, although I also really like Matchmaster - it's just that Matchmaster is so much more formal looking.

I so need to try this one too!

I have so much lipstick that I'll be thrilled to actually finish a tube so I don't mind at all if I go through the creamsheens more quickly.

This is a gorgeous lippie and is the first I've ever backed up.

Same here!  I'm really loving Cremesheens lately.  heart.gif

It wasn't all that for me either.  Just too frosty for me and the fish scale cheek look.  I like Redhead (Naturally collection version) WAY better.

If I like Haute Altitude, what similar lipstick shades would you recommend from the permanent line?

I think Angel, but I haven't seen HA in real life, so take that with a grain of salt.

Maybe I'm not doing it right... I am very fair so products show up pretty easily on me, I applied it with a 187 and thought it was meh but with any blush brush it's too heavy of an application for me. I just can't win!

Mehr is darker, but I do like to think of HA as being the "cute" version of Mehr.

I don't have a single doubt that we'll see another color very close to HA this year - maybe in the Mineralize lipsticks, or in an end of summer/early fall collection.

I cannot wait to get Apres Chic l/s from a CP!!

Mehr has been on my wishlist since they made it permanent.  (I missed out when it was LE.)  That's definitely next on my list once my no-buy (or low-buy) is over.

I actually have Angel, and I really like it. I will have to pull that one out of my stash, compare it with HA, and start using it more often.

A darker HA sounds lovely!  I look forward to similar colors in future collections!

Thank you, ladies!  flower.gif

This collection has just gone up on the Australian website. But it looks like we're only getting 2 of the lipsticks - Cozy Up and Haute Altitude. Bugger! I wanted Hot Chocolate. Why can't we get the whole collection? That's just mean MAC Australia!

I have to agree so far. I had higher hopes for Stereo Rose. I really wanted it, due to the hype of past release(s) that I missed out on. I expected and hoped it had a little more pink in it, but it is more orangey. The colour itself is pretty though. Yesterday I wore it as a blush and in daylight I had to take my Kabuki to wipe some off, because, wow, it was like I poured some metalish stuff on my cheeks. Waaaay too frosty. It is probably better for me to use a blush and then layer a bit of SR on top so there is a balance in colour and not too much frost. Or perhaps it is even better to do it the other way around: SR and then some blush on top, to take some frostiness off.

Porcelain Pink is the same deal so far. It is ok. I got it because I didn't get it at the time of the Cindy Sherman fall 2011 collection. My first impression is that it is pretty but it doesn't make my heart skip a beat.

In all fairness I have not taken te time to experiment with them, but I chucked them in my traincase for now. I will reach for them later on. After reading the Heavenly Creatures thread, I decided to grab Star Wonder today and that one comes closer to heart.gif.

Compared to many Specktra peeps I have a pathetic amount of MSF's, but I am building on them.

I have (not including beauty powders and EDSF's)

- Soft and Gentle

- Lightscapade

- Pearl

- Blonde

- Redhead

- Light Year

- Star Wonder

- Center of the Universe

- Earthshine (yes, I caved in the end, and it proved to be usable too)

- Stereo Rose

- Porcelain Pink,

which I mostly gathered last year. I was happy with all those repromotes, because that way I got a chance to get those too, after missing them during the original releases. So far, I gues Lightscapade is the one I reach for the most. I recently rediscovered Soft and Gentle, which I find very pretty too (fell back in love again) and Star Wonder also felt really good this morning. Yup, just checked in the mirror pretty.gif: it still looks great :)

Must... reach ... for the others... more... sigh.gif

So, should I get Apres chic l/s? I'm NW10, practically see through with very little natural pigment in my lips. I'm worried it would be like a bright orange stopsign on my face.

If I had to keep one highlighter out of soft and gentle and whisper of guilt what one should I keep? And why?

I forgot what color I am in MAC but I usually get a golden medium and can go as far as medium tan in bare minerals.

I' d keep WOG because it has the ED texture which I personally really adore!

And which makes it more unique for me than S&G.

Haute Altitude to me looks like a cross between Mehr and Angel.

Just my 2 cents, but honestly, the newer MSFs from the past two years (not the repromotes) are SO much better than the ones that came before, it doesn't pay to "catch up" and try acquiring all the old ones - just get the new ones every year plus any EDSFs or other new beauty powders, etc that might trickle out. The newest technology is so much better than stuff from even a couple years ago. Although it's true a great color is still a great color, a great color plus a great texture beats a great color with a heavy texture by a mile!!

I'm in the anti-SR camp, btw, and always warn everyone that it's pretty outdated looking, compared to all the new options out there. At least I tried to be the anti-enabler on this, hehe - I promise to keep that up! soapbox.gif

SR feels custom made for my colouring - that's a nice treat when even neutral colours typically run too cool for me. :)

I don't wear it as blush (too metallic that way), but it's absolutely divine applied with a fan brush over NARS Deep Throat or Warm Soul. th_e2cloud9.gif
