No website stalking for me. I'm going to call my closest Macy's as soon as I'm not sick anymore and ask if they can put my stuff on hold. That way, I can use my employee discount. I'll also be sure to ask if they'll get Strength too.

I'm getting all the MES.  I won't make the mistake of skipping any again.  Is vein hunting necessary this time around?  Also has the 287 been released before?  It seems that Mac has been releasing many new brushes in the SE size lately and bringing in the regular full size version later.  I'm wondering if I have this one in a SE size already.  Anyone know?  I'm still not sure about the lips yet.  Blushes look iffy for me. This may be a good thing (out of control blush drawer).  I can't wait for this collection.  I feel like I haven't bought anything from a new collection in ages.  But I know this isn't true since I bought heavily from Glamour Daze.  That seems so long ago.

I thought vein hunting was necessary but IMO it was not really a big deal this time (just when I got knowledgeable, lol) Other than WP copper grey distribution varied a bit but the others were mostly all well balanced. The shiniest two are Ice and Silver Birch. I pre ordered WP, FM, and FS. I think I will back up Fireside ..........eyeshadow back up hoarder here

There was only four (4) of a few of the eyeshadows at the Macys counter I visited early today. The MUA informed that supplies were limited..........gives a whole new meaning to Limited Edition. I didn't have to pay or anything. Just my name and my goodies were nicely tucked away. My Nordies still did not get their stock as yet which is very unusual for that store

When i swatched and pre-ordered, i passed on Stereo Rose - it's lovely, but it's too orange for me.

 

But now i'm wishing i'd pre-saled Porcelain Pink, and i probably won't be in town when the collection goes "live". I LOVE Blonde and Redhead, and Porcelain Pink is kinda in between the two.

 

Now I'll have to call my local MAC and see if "my" MUA is there and if she'll hold one for me - i mean, she WAS holding one for me, but i had her put it back, and now i'm having second thoughts.

 

All i pre-ordered was Hot Chocolate lipstick and Nice & Simple mineralized balm.

 

I'll probably pick up one or two eye shadows when it come out.

Last year's and this year's mineralize brush sets. Tho they were numbered differently, it's the same brush.

I'm bummed that the Macy's Mac counter i go to said they aren't getting Strength in. Hopefully your Macy's will! Feel better!

nice, but all those are passes for me, at least based on the swatches. heaven help me if i see them in person though lol mineralize collections always make me soooo poor lol

Hmmm, I don't have any of those lippies you mentioned. But Restrict it's my hg nude. And Beauty from GD looks horrid on me. Don't know if that helps or not. But I'm trying to pass on this and strength so maybe it's better I don't know lol

Thanks for the link Nayadine! 

 

I'm kinda interested in AC, but more swatches are needed! Haute Altitude is still on a bigger maybe than AC. 

 

AC is kind of reminiscent of Viva Glam Cyndi by the looks of that link, though! I wonder how close they really are in comparison.

Debbs, you've hit the nail on the head in every detail of your post! This isn't much of a vein hunt - they're all more like Shimmermint and the other G&I MES, where the colors were intermingled, rather than in big chunky veins, but they're not powdery like the G&I ones were. Ice and SB are for sure the shiniest - Silver Birch looks amazing applied wet.

Those swatch pictures from Naynadine's last post are closer - the hand swatch is the way it looked on my lips, while that lip swatch looks too pale - I think she had some balm on underneath, which would explain why it looks the way it does. It's not a rich red, though…it's a soft MLBB red, kind of like Keep it Casual Casual Color.

VG Cyndi is much brighter and more coral red - not particularly close.

. I was expecting something darker, more like a brick ... It looks sort of coral on her lips, it's still pretty

She only did hand swatches, as she says….

 

These blushes look very shimmery on the hand, but the shimmer disappears (where, I do not know) when you apply them to your face. Wow, this collection is going to totally suck for good photos and proper reviews, I'm afraid…..

I'm not a fan of shimmery blushes either. Perhaps they look like that because they were swatched heavily?

 

I skipped Chanel's Stardust because of the shimmer and I'll probably do the same about these MBs if they are indeed disco balls in a pan.

edit - looking at those swatches again, Alpine Bronze is just too.bloody.orange. No way it will work for me. Skippety skip, shimmery or not.

The lipsticks are great daily colors - you'll get tons of use out of any of them! Which did you have in mind?

It's pinker, a little more blue undertone and a little lighter, but not much…overall it's the "cute" Mehr. You of all people will love it!

 

Amber Glow is more of a nude to even out the skin tone, sort of like a Forever Marilyn for blush. It's not a sparkly or shimmery highlight, more of a "finishing" color for looks where you're not using a lot of cover-up products like foundation or heavy powder underneath. A little BB Cream or tinted moisturizer or just a bare face plus Amber Glow is how to think about it. It's quite a modern idea. 

 

Meanwhile, Alpine Bronze is more versatile, because it's a great contour color that looks healthy, but not orange but is also light enough to use as a blush too. If you can only get one, I'd say Alpine Bronze, but the two together with AB in the contour and AG above to accentuate is a heck of a look….looked awesome on my NC15 skin without anything underneath. 

 

Also, I think we're going to see more colors like these through the year, so if you can try first and aren't totally smitten with either, I think you could skip them and wait for something else, especially if you have a deeper skin tone or MBs break you out, etc.

 

IMO, it works better on NC complexions. On pale NW, it is far too orange (and sparkly) to work as a contour. However, if you have yellow undertones, the caramel is a great fit.

Is there anything in the permanent range you think might be similar in colour? Having a point of reference would really help me decide whether I should get it or not. Cheers flower.gif
