I also went to my store to return a perfume the bf got me (no darling, even though I like to wear mens scents from time to time I don't wear Cologne!) and somehow (don't know how that happened, really!) I ended up with Frivole and Merveille. Happy but broke now.

When I got my highlighter, I just closed my eyes and lightly swiped my brush over it. Like snatching off a band aid. I knew there was no going back after I did that.

Lol. Reminds me of a great quote from Cindy Crawford: "Women shouldn't be trying to look like me. I don't look like me." And she was working before the age of easy photo retouching.

I agree about the lip combos - the one Elegant likes is definitely at least 2 colors - and yeah, it's photo shopped. punk_.gif

You'd think someone would have taken pity on us after we agreed to take the whole frozen bit at the top of North America...

There may be an issue with importing some of the ingredients (hence the difference in formulas), but I suspect that it's to do with pricing.

In theory, it should be, but the Canadian price is usually much higher. Our import taxes are a bit higher, but on a product as relatively inexpensive as cosmetics (compared to, say, a car or a stove), it doesn't make all that much difference. The real problem is that, for years, our currency was worth far less than the US dollar, so we got used to seeing prices that were a lot higher. In the last decade, though, our currency has greatly increased in value- it's been at par or above the US dollar for about five years and there's no indication that that will change. So retailers/ manufacturers were forced to reduce the gap a little, but it's still far greater than it should be for most brands. Guerlain is the only major brand that holds their pricing close- everyone else gouges to some extent, although there are certain companies (Armani and YSL) who are really outrageous about it.

So, if they sell the products in Canada, they're making a lot more money per unit than in the US and they don't want to jeopardise that. The stupid thing with Burberry is that they're only available in two stores in the whole giant country. You can buy from their web site, but that doesn't help if you want to swatch products, plus they charge a lot for shipping.

That sounds like a short and sweet way girlhaha.gif

I really do not WANT to touch mine.....not sure if I will.......I'm with Naynadine - I want one to look at and one to use!!  thmbup.gif

I just received Rubellite - oh, it's gorgeous!!

That's such a crock about the pricing with Canada....yeah, some companies are just unbelievable.  holysheep.gif  And that's something about Burberry!  I guess business must be good enough they don't have to change their practices.

I want to play...me 4! This is my first non lippie Chanel purchase, am I forever doomed now?

Can anyone tell me whether or not this is similar to NARS Albatross? If you could explain the differences, I'd be thrilled!

Thank you in advance.

Albatross is much much more golden

I think we all need the dummy highlighter that the counters have on display.

LOL! Exactly. Maybe we should wait until the product is sold out and then offer to take the plastic dummy off their hands...

That is a great idea!

I want a dummy too girlhaha.gif

I couldn't resist playing with mine. I just had to take a picture of it first.

I used the highlighter and Frivole in a look today: eyes very similar to the look Seven of Nine posted in the AC thread, both cheek products and Apres Chic on lips. Loved it!

Immediately my bad conscience from splurging was gone, lol!

Here's my highlighter! I finally used it a few days ago. Let's just say I went over it VERY VERY gently girlhaha.gif

I got Or Rose liner & Envoutante ls today. I really really like both. OR is so beautiful rimming/corners the eye or just under bottom el. Its not what they used in that 2nd pic that I am obsessed with, The one in the pic is much more kinda peachy/coppery looking than OR, so I would love to know what they used.

Love the gold shimmer in Env. ls.

Is your Or Rose soft? I got Santal last week & mine is really nice & soft unlike Cafemakeup's, but my first Or Rose was so hard as a rock that it literally hurt to use and I had to send it back. I'm convinced there's batch-to-batch variation on those liners. Wondering if I should try for another Or Rose now. It wouldn't surprise me if they did use Or Rose and it just looks different in the pictures/on computer screens? What do you think?

Glad you liked Envoutante in person. I ordered it from Nordies a few days ago but haven't received yet.

Envoutante has gold shimmer, you say? It's on my list to pick up, but I've been distracted with my nail polish hauls. I need to be more focused. amuse.gif

My Santal was soft & just fine, but yes my OR is def. harder. & I wish it was waay creamier! I warmed it up & it was better but still not as soft as I would like. Env. is a soft sheerer burgundy plum with beautiful gold shimmy.

I was wonder if the liner looked different because it was touched up for the magazine, or yes, computer screens. I want to know :)

I am so impatient...I ordered OR. Those pics are amazing & I would love to have the MU breakdown that they used in each one.

I'm here! I'm just seeing this. Yes that 'light' coming from her eyes is likely Or Rose. That pencil is DIVINE. I bought a backup. I went through Guerlain's gold pen like this... I'm not getting caught like that again.

The pencil is so beautiful on such a wide range of skintones. I'm sorry your's is harder than Santal. Both of my pencils are really creamy.

Or Rose is on my waterline. It adds light to the inside of the eye and makes it appear larger without looking obvious. It's like my waterline... on its best day.lol.gif

Well, it looks lovely on you! I agree, it gives amazing light to the eyes. I love using it just below my bottom liner too as it really enhances it.

But, did you look at that link with all the Japan pics? Look at the second one again - I'm not sure now if that really is OR??? blink.gif

Thanks!

Oh, I was thinking that maybe my OR seemed just a bit harder because I tested it right after I opened my delivered box & it was cold, so I am going to try it again.

I see what you're saying elegant. Her waterline looks more like she's wearing Clair. It's not as 'warm' as Or Rose can be (although it's still a pretty neutral metallic). But that may be due in part to the lighting choices, camera choice, and retouching choices of the crew.

These pictures are so manipulated by the time we get them, that they rarely look much like the original.

And Thanks!heart.gif

Sweet mother of god! This isn't a highlighter. It's a work of art! eyelove.gif

I dropped by my local ICIParisXL today to see if the collection was in. Needless to say, it wasn't. So I asked when it would be available and they said February-March. WTF? I hope they don't pull a Dragon Ballz on me and make it available only in specific stores.

February-March sounds really far away icon_eek.gif

According to beautyscene it will launch the 18 of January (next friday) http://www.beautyscene.nl/p/142527/printemps_precieux_de_chanel_lente_make-up_collectie_2013. Launch dates are not that specific here and store might release it a bit earlier or later. I would check again next week to be sure you don't miss out.
