They're not prototypes. These are a finished product. These first waves may not have the name of the line on the box. This is not unusual.

"All of the original release materials (when we found out about them) called them the Swim Line (well, “Exclusive Swim Dolls” and later “2013 Swim Line”). There isn’t a line name, much in the way that “Killer Style” dolls don’t have an official line name. “Killer Style” came from the description on the back of the box and is a fan-name, much like “School’s Out.”
So they aren’t “Gloom Beach 2.0” or anything related to an existing line. They’re just the new low-priced/budget dolls for Spring 2013, available to the small retailers (Grocery stores, drug stores, local chain stores/Mom & Pop toy stores/PROBABLY Kohls). I.E. You won’t find these in TRU, Target or Walmart (well most likely not Walmart, I feel some people maybe have found Dead Tired Wave 2 there at some point?). And Amazon will likely carry them too.
No need for this confusion or speculation that they aren’t legitimate."
