Which Mac shadows should be avoided? - Page 8

Filament- Pure. Glitter.
Amber lights- Turned a rusty orange on me. Clashed with my skintone
Idol Eyes- Very very sheer, turned purple/grey, very glittery
Copper Sparkle Pigment- Pretty much the same as amber lights, except chunkier.
Canary Yellow- Not even sure why I purchased this :P
Sushi Flower- Absolutely no color payoff.
Blue Brown Pigment- Turned very red on me, not flattering at all.

Jewel Blue- I don't know why I bought this. It's so chalky on me and it's hard for me to blend.

Swimming I find tricky to apply, but I have a brush that does it really well.

I think all the others I have are fine, Parfait Amour is a bit odd, but I don't really use it that much.

Shadowy Lady is tricky if used on its own, but I tend to only use it as a crease colour.

Dark Soul pigment creases on me everytime though, no matter what I do.

am i the only person that likes honey lust? it's probably my most used e/s..

i asked the lady at the mac counter for a niiice purple that would compliment me, and she gave me parfait amour. it looks nice in the pan, but it doesn't show up.

pink venus was another color that looked so pretty in the pan, but on me, it looks like i have an eye irritation..

I don't know if it's already been mentioned, but the eyeshadow I find the most annoying is Melton Mauve, particularly as it's a gorgeous shade in the pot. I can get it to "perform" but I need to really, really pack it on and also apply it damp, I usually end up using Sushi Flower instead, which I find works MUCH better even though it's a much warmer shade than MM, and I'm considering purchasing Stars N' Rockets as an alternative blue-toned purplish-pink.

Others I dislike: Hush. Not bad per se, but really chalky and dull. Too dark, matte and not shimmery enough for a highlight colour, but why anyone would want to wear this blech apricot as a lid colour - rather than something cute like Sweet Lust or even Expensive Pink (if you're going for that "rosy/champagne" type look) is beyond me, it's just such a non-colour.

I agree with some of the comments here people have made about Parfait Amour being really disappointing (at least compared to how beautiful it is in the pot) and hard to work with, but I've recently discovered that this shadow works ten times better and really brightens up when put over a proper eyeshadow base (particularly UDPP), also the quality of the brush seems to make a lot of difference, it's now become one I use quite a lot.

Those who have complained about Beauty Marked: try using it damp, it gives better sparkle control and also makes them more visible.... personally it's my all-time fave.

I just don't really like Crystal. I've had it for years and never bother with it because it doesn't do much of naything. It's so light.

Hmmm... I just bought Trax last night. I see many ladies don't particularly care for it. I hope it works out for me.

I also had a problem with Jewel Blue showing up the first time I used it. I have to pack it on to get it to look like it does in the pot.

And Parfait Amour and Paradisco both show up beautifully on me.

It's the only shadow I've ever had that problem with before, other than Chrome Yellow.

so true.. i have medium skin and jewel blue is pretty when it shows but it takes A LOT. and fades really easily.. and is hard to blend.

Yeah, parfait amour never shows up on me for some reason too o_O no matter how much I put on, it barely looks like the colour in the pan on my skin

All lustres with the exception of Tempting should be avoided IMHO!

I LOVE paradisco. lol The only one I've had problems with is Honey Lust, but then again, I haven't used very many.

The one that really gets on my nerves is Aquadisiac. I have to go over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again before it shows up on my skin.

Oohh... Aquadisiac shows up really bright on me!! One that I DO have some major issues with though lol.. is Gleam. I hate it! No matter what I do to it, all i get is a teeeenny bit of gold shimmer!

Re: Which Mac shadows should be avoided....please read on

i disagree with aquadisiac. It's my FAVOURITE e/s from MAC...

and it has good color payoff...considering that it is a lustre. And it's not as gritty as other lustres and pretty easy to blend.

I want the color to be the same as the colo in the pot:confused:

I've got the same problem with brill, I really love this color and I'd love to wear it on the entire eyelide but it doesn't show up enought.

Could you please help me?
Thanks a lot and have a good day
I recently discovered that Shimmermint Shadestick is the perfect match to Aquavert.
You should use first the Shadestick as a base and then put Aquavert over it. You'll get a gorgeous colour that's even more beautiful than the colour on the pot!
Try it and I promise that you won't be dissapointed!!!

I really hate Beauty Sleep...when I put it on, it's like there is no difference at all...It just doesn't show up on me, at all.

For me, toehr problematic eyeshadows have been:
Steamy ( I cant get this color to show up!)
Plumage(again, this color just applies unevenly on me)
Juxt (I cant get it to show up either)

I do think that part of the problem is the base that I use-I use Bare Canvas paint and I think it rather fades out colors, which is why im going to be looking into the Shadesticks in the future....

Both Steamy & Juxt show up really really well with Beige-ing Shadow Stick. I'm sure you've tried that by now! And I can't get plummage to work for me either!

Re: Which Mac shadows should be avoided....please read on

cranberry and d'bohemia.......i dont know what the hell happen with these colours but they do not pick up onto a brush. and they look like i wet the top, and ive tried scotch tape and every layer, its the same thing. its terrible. so ill scratch some off to be like a pigment and use it like that but other then, im already irratated thinking about it.

Re: Which Mac shadows should be avoided....please read on

I'm not loving the payoff of Violet Trance (Matte) from the Balloonacy quad.

Re: Which Mac shadows should be avoided....please read on

I also find Violet Trance difficult to work with. Its a bit chalky.

I have Pompous Blue frome the Technocolor range, I find this hard to work with as well.

Beautyburst from the Barbie Loves MAC collection is horrible. I have no idea as to why in the world I would ever buy such a color. I hate it! lol
