Please use extreme caution when using glitter products in the eye area. Read product precautions and ingredients. If the glitter you are using is metallic or plastic based, do not use it in the eye area. Doing so can result in eye injury including but not limited to abraided corneas, which can lead to blindness. Craft glitter should never be used, even as body glitter, as the metals and pigments used are not cosmetic grade and can cause health problems or staining of the skin.
Even Ultra-Fine glitter is not eye-safe. There are two brands of cosmetic grade glitter that are FDA/FD&C approved for eye-use, that I know of. I hear that Girlactik might be eye-safe, but I have yet to recieve their testing and approval report, and as such cannot vouch for their product. I do use Tony and Tina's product on my clients on a regular basis, as well as personally. It is an amazing product.
Even eye-safe glitters can be mildly abraisive or irritating. If you do get particles in your eye and they are irritating, DO NOT RUB your eye. Rise your eye out well with eye wash or a neutral saline solution (such as Visine Tears). If irritation persists, contact your eye-care professional.
As always, be aware and cautious of glitter use whilst wearing contact lenses.
