Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?

For some reason Jubilee lipstick made my lips burn/ feel itchy today :/ I have no idea why because it's never done that before. Colour Works lipgloss makes my lips burn too. I'll try Jubilee again tomorrow, I'm hoping it was a one off.

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?

I was using a Revlon lipstick for quite a while and I noticed all of a sudden that every time I would use it my lips would get really badly chapped and the skin around my mouth would get itchy. I switched to MAC lipstick and haven't had a problem since. I tried a Rimmel lipstick recently and had the same reaction after only a day so I am wondering if I developed an allergy to something that is put in cheaper lipsticks. Not sure what though. Good luck!

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?

MAC tinted lipglass.

Everything else by mac is fine on my lips - lipsticks, slimshines, dazzleglasses, tendertones...

I'll have to look into ingredients list because I really wonder what's that thing in tinted lipglasses that makes my lips all itchy an ad painful plus rashes appear that don't go away for days.

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?

I'm not sure if this was an allergic reaction but....

Ulta Lip Plumping lipgloss HURT!
I know most plumping lipgloss is supposed to tingle, but this one BURNED.
My lips felt raw for days after using it.

I did just try some MAC lipglass.

I ended up having ulcers on my lips exposed and hurts whenever i speak. :S is that an allergic reaction?

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?

No idea, but I get a really bad reaction to lipglasses as well, so it doesn't really matter if you call it an allergic reaction or something else - the result is still the same, sadly - the inability to use them

Hahaha so true! Same here. I'm using Bourjois glosses which are fantastic, although I have no idea how cheaper they are

Ouch, I remember when I bought that stuff I felt absolutely nothing so I returned it.

Funny how I have sensitive skin (all over my body), but my lips are not (not that I know of). However, Too Face'd lip injection really burns my lips. I actually don't like how it works sometimes.

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?

Just recently... That new Buxom Plumping Lipgloss from BareEscentuals... I got a sample with my Sephora purchase. It was really strange because I didn't feel anything, but when I looked in the mirror I had a red ring around the perimeter of my lips; it almost looked as if I'd applied it outside of my natural lipline. I ignored it at first but that red ring effect stayed for days and my lips stayed got very dry and the skin sort of sloughed-off. Quite unpleasant.

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?

that's awful!! It always freaks me out to try lip-anythings in store on the lips, I usually just go with a dab across the back of my hand or the pads of my fingers. The only time something actually HURT my lips was when I tried a lip plumping lipgloss...it wasn't the faint tingling it was supposed to be, it was a BURN and I had to return it...and trust, I wasn't just being a wuss

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?

I have the same problem with the Nivea lipgloss! Not any other brand, or the Nivea lipbalm, just the lipgloss - it makes my lips sting and tingle... There must be something in certain lipglosses that some companies use that may not be very skin-friendly :-S

But yes, without sounding like a mother - trying on lipgloss testers instore is a no-no! I actually don't know why make-up counters allow for it because all it takes is one person with herpes/coldsore or this may sound extreme but they may have a worse disease (like hep C) - if they have an open sore or cut on the lip they'll transfer onto the brush!

Sounds extreme but these things can happen!

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?

I too am allergic to chapstick, or some of its ingredients. I get a gross rash from it, with pimple like bumps all across my lips. And allergies can vary from person to person, and even from one age to another. When I was young I had no allergies. As I got older my body chemistry slowly shifted it seems now I have several.

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?

Hello, everyone! I came across this thread and wanted to offer my story so it might help someone else. I went on a kick of trying to use mostly natural ingredients for my facial regiment. Initially it worked. I was using vitamin E oil as a moisturizer. However, I believe because of that spell I'm now allergic to it, and it is in almost EVERY lip product out there. It also goes by the chemical name of Tocopherol Acetate (or maybe just tocopherol; I'm not sure of the chemical difference). It will at first make your lips feel chapped and drawn, then it will cause a red rash on my inner lips (like the parts that are in the mouth, not external). I realize many allergic reactions could present like that, but a description might help some of you to recognize you could be allergic to Vitamin E. Hope this helps!

Re: anyone had an allergic reaction to some kind of lipgloss or lipsick?

Unfortunately everytime I wear MAC clear lipglass my lips break out and become severely chapped. I tried it over and over thinking that it was something I had eaten, but I finally had to give in to what the real problem was and stop buying and using it.

I just looked at the lip gloss that have my lips burning and looking like saucers and lanolin is one of the ingredients in it.  My other gloss doesn't have lanolin in it.  May explain what's going on...Thanks

I'm so glad that I found this site because I thought I was crazy.  I'm sitting here thinking what in the world is wrong with my lips and although I suspected the gloss I bought, I was not sure.  I have never been allergic to anything in my life (lips anyway).  I decided to see if I could find out something on the Internet and ran across this site.  I wrote the company as well LA Colors to let them know about this problem.  I have read all of your responses and have taken some Benedryl, put some camphor, and some otc cortisone cream and I am already feeling better.  I don't need any more plump in my plump lips and right now they are swollen and I definitely can't be walking around at my job looking like the last soup cooler, so in the trash it went.  I know I'm a little late, but I hope someone else can find this site because it has helped tremendously.

Yes, I'm allergic to Mac lusters  and Revlon Colorburst formulas.

I found this site on yesterday 10/31 about this issue about reactions to lip gloss/sticks.  I was really happy to find it because I was having a reaction at the time that I found the site.  After reading and replying to some of the responses, I learned that I needed to act.  I happened to have had some camphor phenol, and some cortisone cream.  My lips were swollen beyond belief and I had tiny bumps all over them, top and bottom so I decided to put both the camphor and the cream on my lips.  When I woke up the next morning, what a difference.  My lips had gone down and the bumps had dried up.  Although they were a bit crustier due to the dried bumps, I was still happy. Since I had to go out into the public eye,  I just put some more camphor and cream on them with a little vaseline and by the time I got back home, my lips were almost completely healed.  I guess giving them a double dose helped tremendously.  I was really happy that I did not have to go to work, but I think that by tomorrow, no one will notice a thing.  Thanks everyone...

I have been posting regarding a bad reaction to some lip gloss that I have now thrown in the garbage...This is the end of day three and all day my lips were peeling from the drying of the bumps.  I just washed my faces and was able to wipe most of the crust away.  They still feel a little swollen, but you can't tell.  Day one, I took some Benedryl, put some caphor and cortisone cream on top of the camphor.  Day two, lips had gone down and were drying badly, but used some camphor, cortisone and a vaseline.  Day three just put camphor and another lip gloss that I absolutely love and at the end of day three, you could never tell that I ever had an issue.  Not a doctor, just telling you what worked for me.  Won't have to go through the rest of the week looking crazy.

After the peeling lip situation was over, I went through a discoloration bout (dark lips) as well for about a week.  Well I am glad to report that my lips are back to luscious.  I also wanted to report that after emailing the company, they did email me back.  They offered to send me another product and wanted me to send them the product to them, they also wanted the product number on the packaging.  I, of course had thrown it away, but thank goodness it was still in my trash basket in my room.  I fished it out and emailed the information that they requested and will be mailing it out to them soon.  I guess there are some companies who do actually care about their customers.  So if this happens to you, please don't hesitate to contact the company and don't throw away the product...

So today I was putting on lip stick and later that day I noticed this bump on the bottom of my lip. I know I don't shared things and I only have two new lip sticks so i don't know which one or why I am getting bumps. If you have any suggest feel free to reply.

I bought Revlon nude attitude lipstick today, and tried it on..... in about couple of minutes... I felt somethings wrong with my lips... stingy and itchy around my lips...

I'll return it tomorrow... will try Nars one...

I've had this happen to me and can't pin down what ingredient could be causing it either. I end up throwing out whatever I put on that day. It's so wasteful, but those bumps are no fun.

I'm allergic to Kryolan lipsticks; I get enormously swollen, sore and tingly lips and severe chapping when the swelling goes down. Haven't experimented much with other brands, but so far MAC lipstick works, as well as Besame and Face Stockholm. I haven't managed to find an ingredient list for the Kryolan, but I know they contain Vitamin E, which, as far as I can tell, MAC lipstick doesn't? It's a possibility, anyhow.
