I am an absolute Fluidline addict lol. Problem is, I was washing my brushes, and it won't come off! I get flakes of it in the sink, but it looks like its not all gone. How do you get this stuff off??

Forgive me if this is the wrong place for this post, feel free to move it :P

I use Philosophy Purity cleanser, really massage it in for a good long while before rinsing with water. Works every time for me.

Won't the brush cleaner dry my brushes out?
nope it doesnt dry it out.... i clean mines every single time i use it with fluidline... since fluidline dries sooo fast it makes the brush hard... i hate it when that happens soo i clean it all the time.... i might leave it a few times if i'm lazy!!! lolz... but yea trust me it shouldnt go bad... just put a little on a napkin and go back and forth on that... what i do is put a little drop on the brush itself if there is a lot of build up!!!!

I always clean it with the diluted brush cleanser! I put some on a kitchen towel and swirl the brush on it until it's clean!

Brush cleaner has a conditioning agent in it to condition the bristles. If the brush cleaner isn't completely removing the fluidline, use a gentle face cleanser, like MACs Everyday Lotion Cleanser, if you have it on hand. If not and you don't want to spend the money, go to the drugstore and pick up some Cetaphil face cleanser. Its less expensive and still gentle. This works great for cleaning of the paints as well.

Also, I bought a huge pack of wash cloths from Costco that I use just for makeup removal and brush cleaning. It works better than just using tissues for brush cleaning. The nap and texture of the wash cloth helps to gently "scrub" the brush when you lightly swirl it on there. Plus, I don't worry about staining my regular towels and wash cloths.

I use Gerber's Grins and Giggles lavender baby shampoo and warm water - swirl it in the shampoo, lightly rub between my fingers, and rinse. It comes right out!

i do this and then wash them with baby shampoo.... i try to clean em after every use with the brush cleaner and then with the baby shampoo once a week... it takes out the f/l perfectly

Brush Cleaner works like a charm. Just squirt some on a towel and swirl around until it comes clean.

trust me brush cleaner does not work for fluidlines. i tried SO HARD to get it off, but it wouldn't budge off my 266. instead try this. its called brush off and they sell it at www.ulta.com. about 9 bucks for it and all you do is spray it on the brush a couple times, then get a paper towel and wipe it right off. you don't even have to wait for your brushes to dry. and it doesn't dry out your brushes at all. hope that helps

strange. the brush cleanser works great for mine. i just spray it on a work towel and swipe and it comes off very easily

I find that a oil-based cleanser like the cleanse off oil or cold cream removes fluidline from brushes the best.
I use cleanse-off oil to soften it, then use my bar of Cetaphil soap to wash it off. Cleans up well.

mac brush cleaner works perfectly on my 209 and 266 brushes, both which i use with fluidline. also, i used my 242 the other day when using non-conformist as a base all over my lids, and brush cleanser worked fine on that too. i guess you could also try the japonesque brand one, because i've found it works just as well, and is about the same price at ulta. but smells SO much better.

*shrug* It works fine for me. I use it on my 266 and 209 with Blacktrack, Macroviolet, and Dipdown all the time. Just used it and it worked well. I don't dilute it so maybe that helps.

I'll use a little of Lancome's Bi-Facil eye makeup remover (any other dual phase eye makeup remover will work too) and then wash it with Johnson's Baby Shampoo to get the oil off. Works like a charm everytime!

That's a great ( and obvious ) idea! Thanks!

Brush Off is HORRIBLE for your brushes... ....when I was at Nordies, all the other lines had this at their counters, but MAC refused to use it because it is oil-based and leaves a coating on the brushes...only when we would run out of our brush cleaner would we even consider using that stuff, and then we would hunt down Bobbi Brown's bursh cleaner and clean them in a sink....

ANything with a little oil in it (like Bi-Facil, which I love!) will help with Fluidlines (and also taking liquid foundation off the foundation brushes)...you can use Cleanse Off Oil too and then wash it off with brush cleaner/baby shampoo and water.

I can't get it all off with the Brush Cleaner, so I use a bit of my makeup remover first (same swiping way) and then after that I use Brush cleaner and rinse it.
I put a little brush cleanser into my palm, and then swirl the brush in it until the fluidline is gone (I find that putting the cleanser on a towel makes it less effective at removing the liner), and then I rinse the brush. Hasn't dried out my brushes so far, and I think the rinsing afterward helps that.

Yo,
Just wanted to say I agree with the methods in this thread. I usually just attack my 263 and 266 with a tissue soaked with MAC Brush Cleaner and it does the trick!

Brush Cleaning

Use BRUSH OFF. I swear by this stuff. It even removes red lipstick from lip brushes in just a couple of swipes. Just take a paper towel and fold it like 4 times and give it about 3 sprays. Swipe your brushes back and forth and they will be dry within SECONDS! Brush cleaner is good, but you cannot reuse your brush until it's dry which takes forever. If you do not have an ULTA store nearby, you can go online and they have different sized bottles. I ordered online before ULTA came to Tampa. The huge bottle lasts for over a year. You can clean about 3 brushes before you have to spray the paper towel again.

also try an oil based eye cleaner to get the majority off and then use brush cleaner, you might also want to designate just one brush to fluidlines since it is such a pain to remove
post #28 of 87
I used to have the same problem! I was using Benefit's Brush Cleaner and it did an awful job!

I switches to MAC Brush Cleaner and couldn't be happier! That stuff gets EVERYTHING out!!!!!!!!!!!! If I have brushes that are extra caked with gunk I just don't dilute it with water...use it right out of the bottle...works perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Put some in a cup or a bowl, undiluted, and swish, swish, swish, let it sit, and swish swish swish some more! Your brushes should be good as new after that!

I wipe off the excess on a toilet paper tissue before it's dried out, then I use a bit of oil-based makeup remover to get out the fluidliner, then I wash it with soap! The brush is synthetic bristles so it can stand a bit of aggressive detergent, unlike natural fiber brushes.

I just use eye makeup remover, warm water, and my hands.
