What is the best way to apply Lustre's?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to apply Lustre's. I have Honey Lust and Mythology and I find that Mythology is easier to apply and actually comes out as it's true color. As far as Honey Lust, this one is the problem one. I usually use ccb and that helps it stick better but by the end of the day I have glitte all over.:shrug:

Any suggestions?

Have you tried using a brush which is slightly damp. Or failing that sometimes applying it with a patting motion with a sponge tip applicator works.
It is very frustrating but there is sure to be a way to make it work. The guys and gals on here will find an answer for you I'm sure.

Paint! Put a basecoat of paint on, and before it dries pack the Honeylust on top.

Hmm...I have tried it with a sponge tip although I didn't use the patting technique with this, imma have to try that again. As far as using a damp brush, haven't done that either but i'm sure gonna try it!

I do use paint but I wait until it dries, then use the ccb. I'm definitly going to try this...thanks!

i got a few Lustres such as Sweet Lust (amazing e/s look into this one, its a gem to keep great for highlighting ) i just use normal brush and its so easy to use, i prefer to use Frost and Lustres

i love lustres, i seem to be one of the only ones, i use them over a paint while they are wet and then usually use a damp brush and patt them on...i wouldn't give up on lustres yet, there are so many pretty ones, i'm sure you will find a technique that will work.

I'm not a HUGE lustre fan, but I do have a lot of them (don't know why...duh!?) and what I do to give it some "staying power" and reduce fall-out is I use either a paint or mixing medium and lightly pat the shadow on my eyelids. I find this works out best for me. I've tried CCB's but I'm very oily and they tend to crease on me, so meh.

I really don't like the lustres that much (due to the fall-out problem) but i have a few in palettes. My tip is to use a shadestick as a base to 'grab' the product then i pack the e/s on with a dense brush (sometimes wet) rather than trying to blend or buff it on.

definately use some sort of base when applying lustres. I also swipe the shadow with my brush, then tap it on the edge of my palette (or kind-of flick it like a cigarette) to drop off some of the thicker glitter. its heavier so it falls, but leaves the shadow. i hope my describing makes sense to you, i am bad at explaining.

lustres kinda vary for me, some i can apply dry no problem w. a paint or ccb as a base but honeylust is a totally different eyeshaDOW when applied wet. I usually apply my base as usual then lightly dampen my brush with either fix+, waterbased mixing medium or plain water and then get the eye shadow on the brush you will be amazed at how differently it turns out hth!

i never use paints im a shadestick girl so i use a SS and then take my 252 brush and really PACK it onto my lids.

I agree with the shadestick suggestion. One of the MAs recommended Honey Lust to me and showed me what it looked like with Penny SS underneath and it looks beautiful.

Mixing Medium is the BEST way I've found. I always use Untitled paint as a base and if you want an even more intense color I'd say use a shadestick on top of that, but usually just MM+lustre shadow packed on works like a dream!

Yeah I usually use ccb or something similar to MAC shadesticks but I find that it tugs at my eyelids so I prefere the ccb. I just haven't used the "patting" technique with Honey Lust although yesterday I tried it with Mythology and it worked out just fine. Tomorrow I'll try it with Honey Lust and see if it works with this one also.

Well thanks to all the luvly people that answered my question, I feel my struggle with Lustre's no longer
