I didn't. Guerlain always goes for sale after Christmas here, and it's all 50%. The only thing I didn't see in the sale was the Turandot palette, evidently it was the most popular item in the collection.

Hmmm.....maybe I should check out the purple mascara - it really brings out the green in my hazel eyes.....
I have decided, with much forethought, that I am going to get the Wulong compact as an early b/d present to myself......yikes, I've never forked over that much for a makeup item.....and I should wait until the refill is available, but if it is not, I'd probably regret it. I found one at my local Nordies and purchased it over the phone, sight unseen. I'm picking it up tomorrow.......I don't know whether to be excited or to cry......
.....while I'm there I'm going to check out last year's to see if it would suit my (cooler/neutral) skin tone better, but at least that one has the refill available now (I actually prefer last year's compact to this year's - I'm a sucker for silver).
Oh you just had to say that didn't you. I will definitely have to check this out for my hazel eyes.
The Wulong compact is still lingering in my dreams. The price smacks me awake though. If only I could justify the cost to myself. I can't wait to hear what you think of each one.

I'm still kind of reeling from the fact that I bought it - at my age, I'm all for 'blurring the lines' and improving the look of my skin. I have good skin in general, but love a little makeup 'help'. I have high hopes for it - if it doesn't do all it's promised to do, back it will go. In a way I'm hoping that Nordies doesn't have last year's version.....I don't want to be tempted with that one (I read somewhere that it might be better for cooler skin tones).
I will definitely keep you posted!!

There wasn't a voyage powder in last year's (2011) holiday collection. There were Meteorites and a highlighter but no voyage powder.

I got the refill of the LE Voyage 01 Mythic - at least I thought the compact was LE (maybe not from 2011?)....also brought home my Wulong....oh my, it is just BEAUTIFUL!!
The compact is pure luxury, and the powder is phenomenal. The SA told me that someone had wanted it but changed their mind....I was very lucky to find it there. Of course, she wasn't too happy that I purchased it over the phone yesterday with a Chanel SA.....I felt bad, but what can you do?
I also got the purple mascara.......really a pretty shade! But I got totally grossed out when the SA took the tester and applied it to her own lashes with the tester wand!!! EWWWWW!!!! I had just put it on my hand to see the color, and heaven knows what other yuck was on it......

I saw the SA from the Benefit counter apply lipstick to her lips directly from the tester at the Lancome counter (Benefit lipsticks aren't good enough for her?) in my local department store the other day. Now that's gross, lol!
I believe the Mythic powder is form 2010. I don't think the compact was LE, it was the revamped version of the old Mythic, but as far as I know it's permanent.

I ended up caving and purchasing the green quad and ballade from Nordstroms. That New Years resolution didn't last long did it? LOL
But I am back on the no new makeup bandwagon for a little while. I need to use up some of my stash before it takes over the bathroom. Plus I have all of these great products that are being neglected from prior collections.

Thanks Anitacska! I'm not that 'up' on the Guerlain 'collectible' collections - just started getting into the Meteorites last year. I appreciate the info! That is gross about the SA and the Lancome lipstick - sounds like she didn't even rinse it in alcohol first......what are these people thinking?!
Haven, I'm in the same boat.....except I WILL have that EL Tease blush!

It's a slippery slope, I can tell you, lol. I first got into Guerlain in 2008 when the holiday collection with the butterflies came out and since then I have been following every launch and managed to get most of the old LE Voyage Powders and Meteorites. I think I have all the VPs in fact, but I'm still missing a few very old Meteorites. I suspect I won't ever be able to get those now, but never mind. There's a lady on MUA who has all of them and she has loads of gorgeous pictures, if you're interested, check them out: http://www.makeupalley.com/account/picsearch.asp/u=CarolineSwing/ I also have some pictures on my blog, the link is in my signature. :)

Exactly! I would love to buy it too. I haven't try it on my face before so I wonder what the effect is.
Cheryl - What a lovely gift for yourself! I'm pleased to know you love it. Enjoy! My birthday is on 1st Feb so I've been thinking about what gift to buy for myself too.

I am anxiously awainting your thoughts:)
It is just so tempting. I am also all about blurring the lines of time. Even more so now that I turned 50 in September.

I wound up with 2 Wulong's! LOLOL. Long story, but yah! I am banned. The Purple mascara is very pigmented on it's on . I imagine over a black it would be subtle. Have fun!
I just want to say I have a nice size collection of the voyage powder compacts and get Wulong if you want a bit of warmth.
Older ones are paler and pinker. Wulong is the darkest I have seen in years, in fact maybe ever? I love Butterfly, and my bee compcat. But Wulong is very very nice! Enabling here! ;)

Not dark really, but warmth. If you look, you can see there are tan parts, the others have pink, gold, white, silver ect. This Wulong has a bit of tan, so it warms up the skin or at the very least does not make it too chalky. It can be used as an all over finishing powder on darker skins too. Some past releases can't. It is still pinky, but not frosty and chalky. I hope I am not confusing you. LOL
I am nc20 and use it all over, what is your skin tone? I am sure it will be fine, even for nc10! It just isn't chalky and has a nice warmth from the tan spots. You will love it.

Oh my!!! 2 Wulongs!! Good for you! And yes, the purple mascara is quite bold - and it's really pretty over black - it catches the light and looks really cool!

Oh, I saw the bee palette on e(vil)bay and would love to have one. I don't know how I never paid attention to these things! Just what I need, something else to 'collect' lol!!
Kate, you crack me up! Oh yes you are!!

Oh, you too Miss QQ!! I hate a sore throat......I took Zicam (a homeopathic 'cold shortener') and it seems to have helped. I'm sure my malaise has something to do with my son leaving to go back to school today
.....I hope you feel better very soon!
I'm working up the mental energy to do my makeup shortly.....

OK - update on my use of Wulong!
I have to say that it is all everyone says it is - gives a beautiful 'softening' effect and a wonderful glow (from the tan pigments Neicy mentions). It is imperceptible on the skin. I used a fan brush to apply it to the 'high points' of my face - cheekbones, down my nose, lower part of my chin, above my brows - and I'm quite pleased with the overall effect. It's different from the effect the 'ballz' give me - they tend to be a little more sparkly if I'm not careful. This is much more of a 'refined' effect.
I'm glad I got it! I'm not sure I would invest in another compact unless it was something like the bee, but the refills are certainly worth it at $55!

Where were you able to find the refills for Wulong? I want to get a bu before it disappears.

I think I just saw my wallet run screaming down the street.
Hope that you're feeling better soon, Miss QQ. Grab a good echinacea product if you can get out- it'll help a lot.

They don't do refills for the limited edition compacts, only the regular one. :( Every so often someone sells a tester on eBay, that's how I've got a couple myself. I tend to buy a back up with the compact which is more expensive, but I guess I can always sell the compact when it's empty if I want to.

Thank you so much Shypo. I am still undecided. A lot of money but the price of the refills are reasonable.
Oh wow. It sounds wonderful. A ma suggestested I get the Voyage one. But I'm not sure if he was trying to sell me that one since they were out of the Wulong. He was telling me the Voyage had more pink in it. Sometimes pink doesn't look very good on me. I usually wear more corals in blush, such as Chanel's Horizon. I'm very pale. Chanel Porelain in Mate Lum. was a good match for me before they did away with that shade, for my color reference. I am currently using Armani #2 Lasting Silk. I wish it was a bit lighter.
So I'm really not sure if I decide to shell out that amount of cash I want to make the right color choice. I am not able to compare side by side as I would have to order the Wulong.
