This was my 2nd attempt at using a a paint pot , my first was rubenesque ..and that one made my eyes water & my lids had a rash.
Painterly is fabulous, it matches my skintone well (nc15 or nw100), id say the color is similar to bare canvas, but this one is matte. Ive given my udpp a break since ive had this , its a versatile color paint so you can use it all the way up to your eyebrows. Its very creamy & spreads much easier than the old pain tubes & a little goes a long way. When i first opened one of these pots, the surface seems sorta dry , but once you swipe your finger/brush across its really creamy & smooth.

This works really well for me. I have the oiliest lids in the world, but this Paint Pot makes my eyeshadow look great all day long. It could seem a bit dry for people who aren't as oily, though - it has a more dry texture than the shimmery pp's. Still, it spreads smoothly (I use a stiff synthetic brush to apply). It is the perfect base to any neutral eyeshadow, but works equally well with more colourful looks and really makes my eyeshadows look more vibrant. Would definitely repurchase.

This was my first attempt with a paint pot. I'm really new to makeup and this was so easy to apply. Its light enough that I can put it up to my brow line and it seemed to help my shadow stay longer. I'm definitely buying this again when I use this one up.

This is my HG eye base. My lids are oily and this matte pp makes my lids very easy to work with.. Color's neutral, goes with everything.. even when I like to put other paint pots on, I need to put painterly as a base..

I wasn't sure if I wanted this or Urban Decay, so I got a sample of both. I put one on each lid and did my makeup, At the end of the day the side with UD was exactly the same but the side with the mac was pretty much gone.

Having read the reviews, I bought Painterly as an alternative to my unavailable Bare Canvas paint, hoping that it would do the job as a base. It not only does the job but I think that I might actually prefer it to Bare Canvas.

It goes on smoothly, smoother than the Bare Canvas ever did and it's been much easier to blend. No more streaks! It's kept my eyeshadow on all day and I haven't seen any creasing just yet. Time will tell if the pot will last or if it will dry out before the product's all used up but, since my Bare Canvas always dried out before I'd finished it anyway, I suppose I'm not too bothered as long as I've already used a reasonable amount of it. I will get this again.

This was my first paint pot. I really like it because it really does make the eyeshadows show up better on your eyes. I never wear eyeshadow without this. I also like this a lot better than UDPP. I'm definitely going to buy this again

I love this product, it's become an absolute HG. A MAC SA introduced me to this in the summer and I haven't turned back. I feel like my shadows never look nice unless I have this on. It's a great base for me as it neutralizes my lids. Nice prep. Makes my shadows seem more true to life (as they appear in the package) than if I don't use it.
I'd definitely buy this again.

I had the same predicament, but went with bare canvas... as paint pots tend to not wear as well. I was happy with bare canvas but you've inspired me to maybe give it a go...

I bought this paint pot cuz I saw so many good reviews about using a paint pot as a shadow base. I hesitated between this one and the soft ochre for a neutral color, the mua told me that the soft ochre will look too yellow on me (asian, NC20) and can accentuate my dark cercle so I picked up the painterly but it's actually a bit too pink for light neutral eye shadow It blends well but it's a bit dry for my eyelids. I use it 3-4 times a week so I don't know when I'll finish it. I don't like the packaging and I hope it won't dry out before I finish the pot. If the product's still fresh when I hit pan, I'll try the soft ochre.

this was my first paint pot. i went into mac and asked for a primer, not being to familiar with mac yet. they gave me the painterly paint pot instead of the "primer" and i've used it every single day since! can't live without it. as soon as it runs out i will definitely buy it again. but i think itll be awhile because you hardly need to use any at all.

I really wanted to love this, based on the great reviews. But everytime I use it, my eyeshadow won't blend and goes on streaky. I don't know if I just got an old pot or what happened. The color is nice though. It really evens out my nw20 lids, so it is ok to wear alone. Just not as a base.

This flesh-tone cream e/s acts like a concealer for my lids and I have been using it as a base for powder e/s rather than on its own. It covers up any little veins or red areas on my lids and is just a tad darker than my skin tone (NC15/20). However lately I don't reach for it often but instead use an e/s primer since it's faster to apply. Also, the edges of the product have pulled away from the jar, which seems to happen to all my paint pots after a couple of months.

I would say this is a great e/s base and/or eyelid concealer for fair/light complexions, but if you prefer e/s primer, then I wouldn't bother with this!

I have oily lids and everything creases in them. I like that this PP is matte and smooth. It applies very well and dries quick. This color is fabulous. It's a great light pink/beige color that brightens my eyes. I'm an NC40. It allows my eyeshadows to blend more easily. I adore the packaging. I'm a sucker for pots. I did notice a tiny bit of creasing after around 8 hours. Not ridiculously bad though. I highly suggest it despite that.

This was my first Paint Pot that I ever purchased, and I loved everything that it did. It's such a good base for pigments and eye shadows, and it's great for oily skin such as mine. My shadows used to blend a lot, but using a Paint Pot really helped that (not just in the Painterly shade). It's actually more helpful for me than Urban Decay's Primer Potion, though I do still enjoy using that as well. One of the things I've always loved about Paint Pots is how quickly they set and dry. As soon as you're finished applying on both lids, you're ready to start applying shades. The only thing I don't like about it, is it tends to dry out quickly (it could be because of where I live) and I always have to use a brush to apply it. I've yet to find a brush that would work best with them =/

I just love this one, gives a beautiful pinkish/neutral base covers my veins and can be used with ANY eyeshadow on top....Would I buy this again? YES YES YES

totally recomend it

I'm not as big of a fan as everyone else is. I like it and would buy it again, but it's not my favorite. It also feels more dry than the others while applying.
