Re: Mystery MAC Pigments [Help!!!]

Yes I have tracked down the reciept. I have reboxed and bagged the pigments. I was supposed to go to Florida next weekend but I will be going north instead.
Aren't these products inspected or something before put on the market? I wonder how did they every get past that stage? A few flags sure should have gone up.

Was it a PRO freestanding or a regular freestanding? Those colors that the fakes are trying to imitate look like colors only available to the PRO stores, like the 2 glitters, the one that looks like electric coral, the one that looks like orange...

What colors did you ask for?
Nope. Not a pro store. Just a regular freestanding MAC store. I should have realized something was fishy when I saw the glitters.
I didnt go in asking/looking for a specific color. I wasnt looking at buying at all actually. I had a friend with me who had never used MAC so I took her in the store. I saw the pigments and picked them out. No names were every mentioned.

Or it could be that someone bought them off Ebay and they came in normal boxes, they realized that the pigments and glitters were fake and dishonestly took them into the MAC store to get real ones for them or money back and because the boxes were real the MA's didn't think of looking at the pigment jars themself? But then they should've been binned and destroyed because they never resell returned items.

And seeing as how MAC has sold glitter in the originals collection (these look like Antique Gold Glitter and Reflects Teal Transparent, but they're not.), the MA would have thought that person was returning stuff from Originals as well.

But what colors did you ask the MA to go get for you?

I never asked for a specific color. I asked the MA to introduce my friend to pigments and while we were staning there I picked up the display jars of the colors I wanted and set them on the counter for her to go get. I didnt verbaly say "I want _____."

Okay, I see. I was just trying to figure out how a freestanding could have PRO colors (like how could the MA had even gotten an Electric Coral for you if you had asked at a freestanding, for example), but you didn't specifically ask for them, so that's even weirder now. Were they exactly the same colors you had picked up from the display or can you remember if the colors were any different a little?

I edited part of my post that you quoted, so yeah, just letting you know.

I don't remember. They obviously looked the same to me since I got them.

Re: Mystery MAC Pigments [Help!!!]

Are there pigment names on the receipt?

The weird thing for me is that the SA didn't notice that the boxes were unlabeled.

Can you put up pictures of the boxes as well?

Re: Mystery MAC Pigments [Help!!!]

are you guys sure that no label on bottom means fake? I recently ordered a revved up pigment from the main mac website that came in a box with the correct label, but did not have the sticker on the bottom that says the name and batch #. should i be worried as well?

Well, if that's the only thing off, I wouldn't be worried, but the pigments she bought have number stickers (it's not like they're not labelled) on the bottom and her boxes she says lack labels, that's more worrying than not having a label in my opinion.

Re: Mystery MAC Pigments [Help!!!]

No, the box looks counterfeit as well.
The box finish doesn't look like that and the box is too damaged to be the quality that MAC sells. Counterfeit boxes get thrown together and shipped separately from the pigments. From what I know, real MAC pigments are boxed and then packed so the boxes doesn't end up messed up. Also, if you try to scratch a regular MAC box, a scratch won't show up so easily or you won't be able to scratch it at all. If you try gently scratching a counterfeit box, a scratch will show up. This is also another sign the pigment is counterfeit.

Try scratching the box.

The "e" on the box doesn't look right either. :/

Its official! These babies are FAKE! I have acrylic gel nails.
One scratch with my nail messed it up all to hell and back.
The MAC store and Corporate will be hearing from me tomorrow.
I will post on what happens with Corporate and such.

Thank you ladies for all of your awesome help! Darkishstar, Sdpfeiffy, MACAttak, everyone. Much love to you guys!

I agree. Further to that the "electric coral" you have doesnt look like authentic electric coral to me - and I have this pigment - the colour is wrong.....

And whats even MORE wrong is that these disturbingly came from a MAC store.... omfg.....

Re: Mystery MAC Pigments [Help!!!]

No problem, PLEASE let us know what happens. I'm terrified of buying MAC pigment from Ebay, I don't want to be scared of buying fake pigment from MAC either!

I have real electric coral as well. The fake looks like a lighter wannabe version of electric coral. There is no way that these pigments are real.

And the fact that a freestanding has a "electric coral" sounds really strange as well. Something does not add up at all. O_O

I will post again as soon as I get responses from all of the people I need to talk to about this issue.

Thanks again to everyone!

Don't think this is in any way your fault. I wouldn't have realized it either if i was in an actual mac store buying something...it wouldn't cross my mind that something might be fake. Sorry this happened ;-)

Re: Mystery MAC Pigments [Help!!!]

I'm curious as to what the pigments were trying to mimic in terms of color names though. What does the receipt say the colors are?

Re: Mystery MAC Pigments [Help!!!]

It's really weird though.
If the boxes are fake, how could the UPC stickers be scanned?

The pigments are fake for sure.

But I can't help feeling that the original poster's story doesn't exactly add up either. I AM NOT accusing the original poster of anything. Being as how I can't know the whole story because I'm not the original poster, I'm going to leave the store a benefit of doubt as well until something comes back from corporate obviously. I can't make a judgment unless I know both sides.

If they did sell you fake pigment though, I hope you get a full refund and a real one of each one in return. =)

EDIT: No, to word myself better. The whole story just sounds strange and off to me. That's all. I think there's something missing in the story. Something that the poster didn't tell us. Doesn't mean she's lying, but left out info.

Re: Mystery MAC Pigments [Help!!!]

the font and spacings between letters on the box don't look right either

Re: Mystery MAC Pigments [Help!!!]

Ok Sorry To Say But Here It Is. I Don't Think Any Mac Store Will Sell Fake Pigments That Just Not Sounds Right. What I Think Is That This Girl, Just Wants To See If Any Of You Guys Fall For It Being Real Mac Makeup, So That She Can Sell It And Get Away With It. Hmm... Did You Notice That When You Guys Asked Her Where She Bought It At She Kinda Lagged In The Reply..anyways Just My Opinion I Didn't Want To Sound Rude Or Anything. Do You Guys Think I'm Crazy For Thinking That?

Re: Mystery MAC Pigments [Help!!!]

And....if Things Can't Sound Anymore Weird, She Says That She Can't Take A Picture Of Her Receipt, Uuummm... "maybe Because She Doesn't Have One To Take A Picture Of" Lol

Re: Mystery MAC Pigments [Help!!!]

Um, yeah... how could the MA know what boxes to give you? Did she open every single one of them and looked at the color? Because I believe (I don't know for sure because I never visited MAC free-standing store) they don't have labels on drawers the m/u is in, just on the boxes... right?
And also, how could it be scanned?
