I had this problem because I used to smoke but i quit so now they're lightening up... any who I put a little burts bee's mixed w/ bare canvas paint or bare canvas paint pot as a base then let it dry some and then applied colors. and Mac Pro has a product called lip erase that works too. Hope this helps

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I wasn't to impressed with this collection. I bought Love Knot and Port Red online (waiting patiently for it to arrive) and I saw them at the counter and thought they were hot! but when I bought some Dazzleglass I picked up Submarine e/s, Mutiny and Lark about samples. Submarine is hard to work with. I really tried, it just didn't work for me so I returned it. I just hate returning items!! but I made it up and got 4 more Dazzleglasses. Plus the Cool Heat colors look 10x better!

What a coincidence. I am doing a FOTD soon with those same colors in the same placement, minus the liner.

Thanks! I would love to see your FOTD - unfortunately I am not really good in taking pictures or posting photos here!

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I've been faithfully following this thread, but I keep wondering, does Love Knot look like Crystal Rose l/g (DC)?

I have Crystal Rose and have swatched Love Knot. Crystal Rose is much more purple in its base, like a light fuschia, and Love Knot is definitely pink and on the warmer side. I think LK has finer shimmer/reflects too. IMO there's enough difference that if you applied them over, say, Ahoy There, you would get two different outcomes because of the base colour. LK looks to be the prettier of the two! - and actually may give a glossier application.

Hopefully someone who has both of them can confirm this!

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

So I just spoke to someone at MAC Live Chat:
Quote:
info: Hello. Thank you for your interest in MAC Cosmetics. My name is Andrea. How may I assist you?
Jo: Hi Andrea!
Andrea: Hi Jo!
Jo: I'm just wondering when the Naughty Nauticals will come out in Australia?
Andrea: I don't have an exact date, but my notes do say May 08 for international distribution.
Jo: Ahh ok.
Jo: Another question! I have a few friends in USA who are not able to get the postcards from their counters?
Andrea: OKay
Jo: The postcards are just like every collection and free, right?
Andrea: I have not seen the postcards for this collection.
Andrea: Also, not sure if they came out with one for this launch.
Andrea: They are FREE, yes.
Jo: Oh ok. Well, thank you for answering my questions!
Andrea: You're welcome!
Andrea: Thank you for your visit! You may close the chat window by clicking the "Close" button at the top right once. You will be able to request that a copy of this chat be emailed to you as well as answer a few questions about your experience.
Is that why the NN postcards are so rare and only given to people who actually purchase something?

P.S. I'm still working on the settings on my camera and my photogenicity (I know that is NOT a word, LOL) too, so dont worry about it!!!

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I'm loving Shore Leave from lash to brow with Illegal Cargo in the crease and Smoke Signal pigment in just the outer crease... (I also used haunting fluidline and a boatload of black mascara, posey blushcreme, porcelain pink MSF, lightscapade MSF all over, and a light pink gloss).

I'm definitely loving Shore Leave and Illegal Cargo.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

soo, i'm warming up to the new shades..today i wore shore leave on lid with illegal cargo in crease & meet the fleet in outer crease/v. it's a weird, frosty smokey look.. didn't think it would end up being so purple and frosty.

love knot is soo gorgeous.. i'm glad i picked it over ensign!

side note--my husband is a sailor and thinks this collection and the product names are weird and rolls his eyes whenever i mention them. lol.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

Is the blue duochrome in Love Knot very obvious? Someone said the lustreglass looked weird on her. The blue seem to overpower the shade itself?

I don't find the green duochrome in Palatial very obvious, only can see it really up close. Hmm... any comments please?

I find the blue noticeable, but not overpowering by any means. I certainly don't see it and go "aaaah! blue lips!" I love, love, love it over any red lipstick, too (my personal favourite being Russian red); makes for such a hot colour. I think it's a gorgeous gloss - I pretty much NEVER buy MAC glosses, and I bought this one. Love it!

On me, the blue was very obvious and in some lights overpowering. It turned the gloss into a lavendar color a certain way the light hit. I wouldn't say it was bad, I just knew it wasn't a color that I would wear often enough to warrant buying it. I don't have Palatial, so I can't compare the amount of duochrome in that vs. Love Knot.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

seriously I love shore leave on the lid and illegal cargo in the crease and part of lid. it lasted all day. LOVE it!!
Now must still use mutiny...

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

Wow, Naughty Nautical nail lacquer is already sold out on the Cdn website! Not that surprised, as the polishes always seem to sell out quickly, but I wasn't anticipating to see anything gone in the first week.

I really love Love Knot. I do not find the blue over the top at all and I love it over Port. I don't buy a lot of lipglass but I had to have this.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I skipped Bell Bottom because I have very similar blues from other brands but I am so tempted to just go get it! I love blues and will use it. Is this a must have???? I have my eye on Deep Truth. I doubt I would need both. Help!

If you're thinking of getting Deep Truth, then maybe wait for Cool Heat. There's supposed to be a similar shade but with better texture in that collection (based on swatch pics by Erine1881). But BBB is quite different in colour, lighter but more muted if that makes any sense. Personally, I really like BBB.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

My haul: shore leave & illegal cargo e/s, naughty nautical polish, mutiny pigment & buoy-o-bouy l/s.

I'm not usually a lipstick girl but I love buoy-o-buoy! I thought I would want bell bottom blue pigment but it wasn't intense enough for me to buy it.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I was originally interested in Bell Bottom Blue pigment, but decided that with Naval and Cornflower in hand, it wasn't spectacularly different enough to warrant me spending the $23.50 plus tax. My MA was actually pretty "enh" about it, too, saying that there are certainly ways of recreating the colour, it's not that original.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I looooove the NN n/l. I got a manicure and pedicure and had them painted. My nails are so droolworthy!!

My Haul (so far) Shore leave, Illegal Cargo & NN nail polish <3

Shore leave is so smooth, I love the vp finish.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I was acctualy a bit dissapointed after I swatched the lipsticks and glosses. They eneded up being too pink for my liking on my skin. Same with some of the shadows. The only things I ended up getting was Shore Leave and Lark About. A friend is giving me a sample of Munity so I'll play with it so i can see if it's a must have since i'm not so into wearing blues. i have a new top that Munity will match with so I'll have to try it out and see.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

i bought mutiny pigment and submarine and shore leave e/s today. i'm thinking of going back to get NN nail lacquer though... the swatch thread is taunting me for not picking it up.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I'm thinking of picking up Shore leave and Illegal Cargo, but only as a B2M item. I've decided to skip on the pigments for now and wait for them to show up at my CCO. I just can't justify that much moola for blue pigments.
Can't wait for my lippies to arrive though. I ordered Party Mate, Port Red, Bateaux and Love Knot.
Saving the rest of my money for the Neo Sci Fi and Cool Heat collections.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I picked up Shore Leave, Mutiny, Illegal Cargo, Meet The Fleet, Port Red, and NN n/l.

I got Bell Bottom Blue and Lovely Lily for free (samples!!!)

I also picked up the Stowaways quad...can't wait for it to come in the mail!!
