Distressed jeans

So, I'm making my own distressed jeans (will post pics when they're finished!) since my beloved CK jeans are looking oooooold. I slashed some holes with a knife, sanded around some edges, pockets, etc. and applied gel bleach to the holes. Then I splashed some liquid bleach onto the front. It's been sitting for 3 HOURS and I've seen a bit of lightening on the areas I applied gel bleach, but the liquid bleach is doing NOTHING. Anyone know how long it takes to start bleaching?

Usually the bleach takes its effect pretty fast. Maybe u could try a higher concentrated bleaching liquid?

I just applied some more liquid bleach about an hour ago (it's generic, btw) and it's starting to lighten a little bit. I can't believe how long this is taking. I'm guessing it's watered down since it's generic. Argh! I think I might have to buy some better bleach tomorrow!
