Nail application

I noticed that the last post about fake nail application was locked. I have a similar question, but slightly different. I am someone who has never worn fake nails before and I don't want to sand down my nail or anything, I just want to apply them temporarily for a day or two. What is a safe way to get fakes to stay on without damaging my natural nails.
The only reason I ask is because I'd really like to have a Ukrainian egg design on my nails for Easter. There is only so much I can do on my own nails (espec. since I'm not ambidextrous).

Some sort of press-on, or what techs call "Party Nails" will do. Unfortunately, for any enhancement (including nail polish) to adhere, it's best that you remove the shine from the nail. This can be done with the rough side of a 3-way buffer.
