I am not a professional but have dyed y hair everything from bleach bonde to red to pink

So I am thinking that maybe a first attempt would be to get a semi-perminant/demi-permanent colour (such as manic-panic pillerbox red) on your unbleached hair to see if the colour will take without needing to bleach (depends on how dark + porous your hair is). If that doesn't work you will probably need to bleach it and then colour it red (the red will show up brightest on bleached hair).
