Stick Foundation - is this like cream foundation?

and what skin types is it most suited for? Do you personally like this product? What brands are best?

I always liked Benefit's. I find stick foundation is like a cream but a bit heavier. I prefer to use it for spot foundation, not an entire face. I don't think it's good for oily skin, since my skin (which is semi-dry) would look dewy from wearing it.
