JLynne Mineral Foundation

Mineral foundation has been on my -miss- list lately, because of the redonkulous breakouts I got from my last bout with them. It was horrifying. And drying. And mask like. My face felt scratchy.

Click the jump and see how my latest venture went!  Oh, and some swatches too. ;)

Rock & Republic FOTD

Jul 17, 2009

I'm giving Rock & Republic's Tinted Primer and Trickery Tinted Illuminizer a go this week, and wanted to show you guys the first day I've worn them.
I'm REALLY liking these so far. I don't want to give a full review yet, but I can totally see them becoming something I reach for every day.

What with the heat and all, I didn't do much today...

I know a lot of people are curious or don't know a lot about Lily Lolo, so I thought I'd do a review & application for you guys to see how amazing it actually is! & their shipping world wide is super cheap! www.lilylolo.co.uk

So, it would seem that in my 20 year quest to find the perfect foundation, I might have FINALLY nailed it! And, the only reason I was able to do so is because my sister gave it to me as a hand me down because her skin is naturally perfect and therefore, she does not need foundation. Yes, if you are wondering, I do hate her; just a little bit.

M·A·C STUDIO SCULPT FOUNDATION SPF 15
Q&A WITH GORDON ESPINET
VICE PRESIDENT GLOBAL MAKEUP ARTISTRY, M·A·C WORLDWIDE

Q: How does this formula perform differently from other foundations in the M·A·C line?

Studio Sculpt is incredibly versatile, which makes it unique for many reasons, since its texture is silky and creamy, gliding effortlessly onto skin while providing a natural, velvety finish that’s both modern and natural. It can be blended with moisturizer for a more sheer finish that’s never streaky, or combined with concealer for more full coverage. Create a matte finish by applying powder afterwards, or use Studio Sculpt alone to emphasize skin’s natural sheen and highlights.

Having immersed myself in the makeup world for the past few years I’ve developed a high appreciation for primers and all the magic they can work. A good primer can make or break a look, depending on how it reacts with your foundation of choice.

I’ve been watching Laura Gellar’s Spackle Under Makeup Primer ($23) for awhile now, so I was super glad to get to try it out. I’ve tried it under mineral makeup, liquid, and powder foundations and all have had the same exceptionally smooth and long lasting results. My makeup stays on all day and stays fresh.

It’s not a multi tasker, so it’s not good for oil control or anti aging or anything like that, it’s just a primer that preps the skin to receive foundation. A little goes a long way, so half a pump is about all I need to do my entire face.

If you’ve got oily or sensitive skin, this product may not work for you because some people report breakouts or a shiny finish later in the day, but if you’re dry like me and want a light weight primer, I’d say give it a go!
