Versailles aka Cruise

Does the cruise collection typically come to counters? I thought it was a boutique exclusive?
I thought so too, but chicprofile seemed to have some information that indicated it was coming to 'Chanel counters'......but really, who knows. I think Neicy said in an earlier post that BG was going to get it........

Saw this collection! It was launched this Friday but surprisingly discretely, at the back display instead of the front display. The main collection Chanel is promoting is the spring collection. I have a few pictures of the display but they are not helpful because of the lighting. The pictures from chicprofile that Cheryl put up earlier in the thread is very accurate of how the products look in real. My counter displayed Rose Tourbillion and another RCS which I can't recall instead of Evasion. The collection is an exclusive launch so not every counter will get it. I came back with the powder. The design is not as intricate as the spring powder, and the colour is totally different. It is gel-like, and more frosty/metallic and intense, like the EL Modern Mercury. It is more similar to the Nacree highlighter, pink but more tan. It comes with a black sponge applicator and a black velvet pouch. The eyeshadow is a matte mid-tone pink. It is unique IMO, and pigmented and soft. I haven't pick it up as I'm not sure I'll reach for it often.

Thanks for your review, as usual much appreciated :) I am really tempted by the pink eyeshadow, and I mean really, really tempted by it. Do you think it could double as blush as well?

Hi Miss QQ! Many thanks for the info and review - which counters got the collection? I mean the Versailles one? I am dying to get it!

bis - I have thought about using it as a blush too. I think it is possible, though it may not be that brightening because it is matte and muted. But as a subtle hint of colour like a flush, it will work. cherburaha - I'm located in Asia. The Chanel studios, 2 in my case, and selected counter, which happens to be only one in my country, get it.

Thanks Miss QQ - I have to check the boutique then, hopefully they'll get it as well. Although when I asked them this week it looked like they had no idea what I was talking about. I had to show them the wigs on the mannequines in the windows, you know the pink ones to explain what collection I am talking about-)

I would say it is neutral rose, leaning just slightly warm because it is not a blue-pink. The picture is very true of how it looks and swatches in real.

I received my Nacree powder today - it is VERY similar to Modern Mercury, but yes, slightly 'pinker' toned. Interesting about the powder........I would still like to see it.

And I like the shadow as well - but like you, I'm not sure how often I would reach for it, but as a blush it would be interesting.

Here is a review of the powder.

http://bestthingsinbeauty.blogspot.ca/2013/01/mouche-de-beaute-illuminating-powder.html

My powder didn't have the odd discolouration of the overspray like hers. I haven't use the powder because I don't want to spoil the beautiful design. The little bug in the middle is very charming.

Cheryl - Enjoy Nacree! This Versailles powder is very slighly more tan than Nacree. I haven't bought Nacree although I was crazily in love after swatching it the first time.

Thanks for the link! I might be able to skip Versaille then - I like the slight rose tone of this one - more tan might make me look 'dirty' (one of the challenges I have with some bronzy-type products). It is so pretty though, and I love the bug!!!

Oh sorry doll, I was talking about the Versaille! LOL. I love HL's so damn much. I have the 2 Dior Lace ones, Chanel pearl, ons of old LE Chanel ones I never use cause they are 2 pretty. I like collecting them? !

Which powder are you talking about? :)

I'm referring to the Poudre Lumiere Nacree, which I think was an Asia exclusive....it's an illuminating powder very similar to the EL Modern Mercury......

I saw on the Guerlain thread that you ordered your Sakura blushes - are you in Europe? I'm so anxious to see if it comes to the US!!! Winthrop said that Izzy's will get it this spring, but I'm hoping we can have broader access to it.....fingers crossed!!!

Is Nacree the same thing as the Mouche powder? I'm so confused about this. As I was saying in the Chanel thread, I called my local Saks & Neiman's & they had absolutely no idea (or willpower) to figure out what I was referring to. I asked about the Vesailles collection & nada, no idea. They both asked if I was talking about the one that is out now for the Spring. I have a serious lemming for Guerlain Cruel Gardenia & Laura Mercier Rose Rendezvous...I would love to get this or either one of those ***sighs****! & this looks beautiful as well. I just want to know if this is even worth me trying to save for...if its unattainable like the aforementioned ones I don't want to get my hopes up.

Mouche De Beaute on the Chanel web site (not US site) under collection Maquillage Croisiere De Chanel and the Nacree was on a site called Joey's Space. They appear to be two different illuminators.

Spanky, Best Things in Beauty featured the Mouche de Beaute powder, and mentions where it can be purchased if you are in the US. Read the comments as well as the text: http://bestthingsinbeauty.blogspot.com/2013/01/mouche-de-beaute-illuminating-powder.html
She says that Nordstrom in Seattle just got it in. I really need to start working downtown. I would love to see this in person before buying it (it's just a pain to get to for me), so I hope the other Nordies in will be getting it.
