I took dior's blue lagoon, it's a nice one - but Dior's eye shadows ofetn turn out to be so sheer, sparkling but sheer!

Do Chanel counters in Dept stores, say Macy's, have lipstick samples? Or is that a sample one would find at a makeup counter in one of their boutiques? Im interested in trying their lipsticks, but would love a sample first!

Thanks in advance for any response!

We get the quad at counters in the UK if anyone's interested!
That's great news, thanks gracie90! It looks gorgeous but I think I'm probably going to go for one (or maybe both) of the Dior quads. I just prefer the Dior formula. It's nice to know I have the option of getting the Chanel one though.

Have you tried just patting them on?  My biggest problem with the baked quads is usually glitter fallout and lack of pigmentation, and from your swatches this one doesn't look like it would have those issues?
I'm used to the creamy, buttery feel of the Burberry shadows, which are my favorite high-end e/s and these are so far from that. I'm not keeping it. It's too expensive and if I don't love it, it's not worth it to me...

I'm not sure what to do about getting any of the shadow sticks or not. At first I was really interested in Moon River (mostly because of the name- Breakfast at Tiffanys is my favourite movie lol), Jade Shore, Pink Lagoon and the blue one, but after seeing swatches I can't decide. I feel like I NEED to get one just because they're something new from Chanel which is my favourite makeup brand. I absolutely love my illusion d'ombres but something about the texture of these shadow sticks is putting me off, not really sure what it is. I think if I do get one it will be either Moon River or Jade Shore as I can't really see me using the other colours much. This collection isn't out here in the UK yet so I have some time to decide. Pygmalion looks so pretty in your swatches elegant-one. I'm definitely tempted to pick this up when it launches.
I'm glad I'm not alone : ) I suspect the shadow sticks look sheer, patchy and the hues are off. I haven't seen them in person. But, I can't even seem to buy one. Also, I'm so uninspired by Bel-Argus and Azure. They kind of look like they have that streakiness seen with metallic polishes and the colors aren't amazingly unique. I'm on a serious budget, which hinders my opinions a bit. The only item that caught my eye was Lime Light.

Hmmm. Well I was not a fan of Moon River because the color didn't do much for me and I felt like it was too irridescent for an old lady like me, lol, but it was not sheer or patchy. I don't have Bel Argus, but I do have Azure. I was afraid of streakiness/brush strokes and there is none of that at all.

Got to look at the collection...except they were using the quad at the time & then I forgot to go back & swatch it

On the shadow sticks - Winthrop is right. None of them are sheer or patchy. They have a lovely silky consistency, very opaque, are waterproof & wear very well. You can pretty much only smudge them right away & then they do not budge. Once they are dry you can no longer smudge them. At least not on me.

I bought the Black Stream shadow stick & used it as a liner - GORGEOUS! It can also be patted out to be lighter for a shadow which made it very pretty. I really liked the blue one too but didn't get it yet.

I wore Lilis np today & everyone was asking me what np it was

Yep, it pretty much was a light golden blonde taupe & kinda blended into my skin color. I think if it were a bit deeper taupe it may have been a better color.

Yes! The shadow sticks really do look sheer and kind of patchy, I couldn't put my finger on what it was but that is definitely it. I'm on a strict budget too after spending so much on the recent Mac collections, so I need to only buy the things I really really want/need. This collection just isn't really doing much for me, the fall collection, however, now thats another story. I'm going to be wanting alot from that. I think I'm probably going to leave the shadow sticks, unless I see pics of them looking good on the eye and then I MIGHT just get one. I'm actually not able to go look at make up in person. Without boring you all with the details, I suddenly became severely disabled 3 years ago and have been completely confined to bed in excrutiating pain in my lower abdomen, I was only able to sit, stand or walk for like 5 or 10 minutes a day max. I finally started to get better a few months ago but its a very very slow process. So only in the past couple of months have I actually been able to start wearing make up again (I missed it so much! I still would put my lipstick on some days though to try and cheer myself up). I'm doing alot better than I was but unfortunately I'm still not well enough to be able to go to a make up counter. So I have to make all my make up purchases based on swatches and reviews I find online. I've only just joined Specktra but I'm so glad I found it and I'm really grateful for all of the swatches people post and their thoughts on things.

No, they are not sheer or patchy. They a very smooth & opaque. The colors & texture are lovely in person. The only one that lacked some color was Moon River.

Thank you, I'm glad they're not sheer in person because the colours are really pretty. They don't appear sheer in swatches, but I found photos of them used on the eye on someones blog and they just looked like they were lacking and not up to quality I'm used to with Chanel. I'm sorry I can't remember which blog it was. If Moon River isn't that nice then the only one I'd consider getting is probably Jade Shore. It looked lovely on Lisa Eldridge in her video for this collection. I'm glad you're liking these and hope you enjoy you're new goodies from this collection.

They're definitely not sheer or patchy. I didn't find Moon River lacking any pigment either. I have to take someone's tutorials on products with a grain of salt. A lot of people choose to sheer things out. We all wear colors differently. That's why I'm much more interested in a swatch of a product than a look. They definitely don't budge either.

Got a chance to play with the collection yesterday but I'm waiting until Nordies Chanel event the last weekend in May to purchase.

I know for sure I'm getting Jade Shore and Azure polish. Azure is lovely! I never buy high-end polish because I go to the spa to get Mani/Pedi's but I will buy Azure, its just that great.

I might get the black & blue shadow sticks as well.

I got around to really playing with Jade Shore and Lime Light mascara. Jade Shore goes great with Aquadisiac by Mac. Makes it even more intense and shimmery. It's better over a primer, too. The mascara is my favorite thing. It's so loud and noticeable. I did one eye the full on with the top and bottom lashes coated. The other eye I just did the tips. Incredible both ways.

I agree that the shadow sticks are not patchy at all. I went to the store expecting to skip them but once I swatched them I was in love. They are so smooth and the colors are gorgeous. Like someone said earlier once they set they don't budge. They remind me of Laura Mercier's caviar sticks, but I liked Chanel's slanted tip. I really loved Jade Shore but it looked too close to Riviere so I skipped it and only got Black Stream and Blue Bay. I think the black will make a great base for smokey looks and the blue is just so pretty. I also picked up Azure, Bel-Argus, and Pygmalion. I am thinking about going back to try the mascara but I'm not sure I can pull that off!

I'm relieved they're not sheer because I was really interested in them. Thank you all for your thoughts on them, you've got me excited about them again. I'm glad you're happy with your new things shontay07108. Jade Shore is the shade I'll probably try first, I think it's a gorgeous colour for Spring/Summer. The mascara sounds amazing. Coloured mascara has never really appealed to me so I was planning on skipping them, but hearing how much people are liking them from this collection is tempting me to give it a try. After not being able to wear make up for the past 3 years I'm now really appreciating it alot more. I was only 20 when I became unwell but I was already kind of set in my ways when it came to make up. Apart from lipstick I didn't really experiment much. Now that I'm getting better I'm loving make up so much more than I ever did before, and I'm wanting to experiment with lots of different colours and looks while I'm young. So maybe I should give one of these mascaras a try, although I'm not brave enough yet to try the yellow lol. Im definitely looking forward to seeing the looks people create with them. I hope everybody is enjoying what they got. Im so excited for this to launch in the UK.
