Chanel Vitalumiere loose powder foundation

Why is it so expensive? Is it because the brush comes with? That's so annoying. I don't want a new brush every time I repurchase this; I'd rather just have the foundation and buy the brush separately. I'm less interested, especially because all the US sales associates I've spoken with seem to have no idea about this at all. Let me know if it's a must-try, though!

I think I will hold off on this for a bit after seeing this review....if the US is getting this product. http://www.mrsbeautyscene.com/chanel-vitalumiere-loose-powder-foundation-first-impression/

I have a combination skin ( be coming dry aged 46 ) and no wrinkles at all. Yes it is matte and probably better for combination/oily skins, I agree but it is still very good . I never use foundation in fact, I am not a fan of them if I need a full coverage I use Chanel CC cream. The powder formula is awesome but if you are not used to it well skip, you may be disappointed by the Chanel one. I would compare the Chanel one to the pressed UD powder but the Chanel powder foundation is better and easier to apply Thanks to the Kabuki:) again my review of it is subjective as I have no foundation here except samples.

I'm excited for this foundation, but I don't think I'd pay almost $80 dollars for it. I'd rather they sell the brush separately.

I went to my far away nice mall yesterday & asked Nordies Chanel counter about this foundation

they were absolutely clueless. None of them knew anything about it. Neither did the Saks Chanel people. uggh

I fear that the US isn't getting it! It's no where online and nobody knows anything? We can't even get a clear answer from chanel.com! I need this in my life....

I tested the powder today. I found the darkest shade (#50) starkly pale. (For reference, other B50 foundations in Chanel lean orange on me, I'm somewhere between B40 and B50). This one is a definite miss for me.

Other details about it: the sieve the powder comes out of is not solid plastic - it's like a fabric you can press in to touch the powder. The consistency of the powder is 'good' or as expected for a powder of that nature. I didn't notice anything special about it.

I tried this foundation on my hand. The MA suggested 20, which I think is actually a good match since 20 looks very pale. It had the pleasant Les Beiges powder scent and it felt very light-weight on, almost like nothing, unless perhaps if I had applied heavily. I have an old Guerlain loose bronzer that comes in the same packaging, with a net-like sieve that allows the powder to come through. It is expensive! It is $100 here, which is the same as the pricey highlighters with intricate prints. The MA said we could apply liquid foundation first and then this. The brush is very soft and the hairs are like the retractable kabuki, but it is not retractable here. I'm not sure about how I would use or need this powder. Anna Sui has recently released a remade loose powder foundation too in a pretty dome-like packaging (to keep the brush), but bulky, and less expensive. It has a nice rose scent and on my hand it was very smooth and glowy. If I want a loose foundation I will have to examine both more closely. I tried BareMinerals loose foundation as Sephora gave me a sample, and it had a strange sheen on me and I didn't like the feeling on as well.

Here's the Anna Sui powder for anyone interested, it's the first one in the page.

I have been curious about this foundation and read some reviews. Seems that it is not suitable for dry skin but great for oily/normal skin. Here is one review. http://www.frontrowbeauty.com/chanel-vitalumiere-loose-powder-foundation-with-mini-kabuki-brush-review-swatch/ I might just wait until the US gets the foundation and see what you ladies think of it. After all, it is a pricey powder and I don't want to put it aside if I can't use it.

I have really dry skin (but I get oily) and I must say that minerals work better for me as long as they have a buttery texture. Liquid foundations only make me look worse, like cracked dessert.
I haven't tried this one though but it sounds promising!

I went to a Chanel makeover by one of their international MUA and he tried the new loose foundation on me. He put it on with the small kabuki in circular motions pressing down as much as possible. When I first looked at it as soon as he applied it I thought it looked a bit powdery but then as it set it looked amazing. I have combination oily skin and it lasted the whole day, I just couldn't believe it. I'm not sure it's the best for dry skin as it could make dryness show up but for normal to oily skin it could be great, I may have to pick it up... Oh and it didn't enhance fine lines and made my pores look great, although that might've been with the help of the other products he used before.

Thanks for sharing this. I was actually fearful of the loose foundation but seeing this application technique, I might look into this when I'm in need of foundation again.
I currently alternate between Double Perfection Lumiere ( the pressed powder foundation), Perfection Lumière, Perfection Lumière Velvet and Les Beige Healthy Glow
Fluid, so it may take me a while to get to it.

I may be picking this up this week and if so I'll show it in depth on my blog! I had never considered a powder because I hate a matte look but this one was very nice and SOOO long lasting on my combination oily skin!

I have a number of foundations too but they are mostly not a perfect match. I'm usually between shades 10 and 20, and I don't want to purchase 2 and mix them. From Chanel I have Vitalumiere Eclat pressed powder (old version), and Vitalumiere Aqua is almost finished. Now I want Perfection Lumiere Velvet, Poudre Universelle Libre and possibly this loose foundation. Let us know your thoughts if you see and buy this foundation.
