Prelude is totally beautiful, sophisticated neutral and it is your safest bet, I have seen only praises for this quad and have it myself, its great.

RE is beautiful as well, but doesnt seem to work for lots of people due to quality issues. Many complained the shadows apply patchy, there is fallout, blending issues and low pigmentation. I am not sure if this is just because of the quad being Euro formula and most people here are used to US formula or it is ssue of this particular quad.

I also totally love pink and browns and still debating getting this quad because I really want to love it.

After reading many reviews I believe RE is not meant to be pigmented pop of pink, beige etc. It should be more of a sheer brightening effect to your eyes IMHO.

So it really depends what you want and what your expectations are.

There is also new palette coming up soon Ombres Tisses concept of which seems somewhat similar to RE.

Ikram, thanks for that info. That definitely makes a difference in my decision. I'm not all that into sheer brightening effects for my eyes. And if there is another quad coming up that is in the same vein, I think I'll pick up Prelude for now. Thanks!

I wonder if the Rouge Lacque Allures are similar to the NYX soft matte lip creams? If anyone has both, can you please let me know? Because the Chanel ones cost a pretty penny!

^^ I haven't tried the NYX lip creams -- but the Rouge Allure Lacques are kind of like a liquid lipstick. Not matte in finish, but maybe more of a satin finish (but it may vary from color to color). I only have it in "Ming", which is a great pink nude color.

I actually prefer the Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss -- the feel and wear are heavenly!! But these are much more like a gloss than lipstick.

I had both and they can't compare at all. The Nyx lip creams feel pretty dry (and I hate to say it--cheap) compared to the RALs. However, the RAL's "slip" gave me nothing but problems--feathering, patchy application, running. Problems I didn't have with the Nyx lip creams. Everybody else sings the praises of the RAL formula but it gave me nothing but trouble so I returned them for regular Rouge Allure lippies. I would say just go for Nyx if you're on a budget, but by all means try out a RAL anyway since I'm in the minority about hating on the formula. :)

Thanks all of you. I'm already an active member on tpf and mua, but can't get enough of talking about makeup. And I looove Chanel. I went to Paris lqst week and bought me some goodies. Topkapi (actually bought 2), the Beiges highlighter and a mirror (plus one for my mom, she loves Chanel as well).

Thanks! I was freaking out because I've *never* spent that much on a lippie and I swore I was throwing my money away. But after I put it on and it wore for such a long time I am sold! Saving up to get a few more.
Here's a pic of me wearing the lippie:

Wow!! I missed this. You look fabulous girl. That shade was made for you;)

Hi! I am new here, also.

I am going to Paris in a few weeks. I plan on going to the Cambon Chanel Boutique. Any other suggestions?

In Chanel at Rue Cambon 31, I hope Laura is there to help you. She is the sweetest SA ever. But everyone there are nice of course.

I can't say that for the staff in LaFayette and Printemps though! I got NO service at all, they were busy chatting to each other and only helped (a little) when I directly asked for it.

At Rue Cambon (the end near Rivoli) there is a fantastic Macaron bakery (?), you should definitely check that out. Plus Ladurée.

Thank-you so much for the recommendations.

We are also going to London. I got on Selfridge's site and did the math for possible make up purchases. It came out cheaper to buy there than what it will cost in the US. It doesn't seem possible?
